  1. Yay - success at last! A little knowledge and experimentation goes a long way with this stuff. An hour spent with the manual, pushing switches and turning dials is a good way to become familiar with the hardware. This is the digital world where you aren't very likely to blow anything up, or electrocute yourself if things are not wired up correctly, and sometimes experiments can reveal interesting results. As stated by "rd2rk" in the earlier post - "OP - don't mind us, we're just blowing off steam, not necessarily directed at you...." That's because we get lots of people posting questions here, that are seeking for solutions to issues that have been covered many, many times, or the whole thing can be found in the owners manual for the HX product they already own. It becomes a little tedious after a few years of constantly going over the same old ground. Some of us even have "cut and paste" answers for the most frequent stuff. I mentioned previously that long time forum contributor, and Line 6 Beta tester, "Peter Hamm" was being castigated over a post he made on Facebook. He closed the thread to more comments, but the gist of it came down to this - "TLDR version... Do not ask a question if you can try it yourself and see how it works. Instead... DO IT, and then come and tell us what you have learned, and those of us who didn't even THINK about whatever it was you were trying to solve will benefit much more greatly! Do the work, people." Splendid - You did and finally figured it out. To paraphrase another of his comments on FB: In here we don't think questions are "dumb", or that people should never ask questions, but it is advisable to do a little research so as not to appear total devoid of knowledge by repeatedly asking the same old stuff or asking about things that are already covered in the manuals. Plus, in your case, you left yourself wide open to ridicule by starting your post with - "Newbie so please abuse if you need." Really? Hmm... what did you expect would happen? Have fun learning your new toy.
  2. Do you ever reach a point when you feel as if you are hammering nails into rock with your head? I know I do, when answering some of the inane questions that crop up on here. I'm not even sure if we are bring trolled at this point, as the guy starts off by saying -"Newbie so please abuse if you need." This is all rather futile, because I actually went on Customtone and found the preset the OP was using - The guy (NBell) who posted it there was very clear in pointing out that the IR used was from the freebie Allure pack available through Line 6 and provided a link. All of this took less than a minute - Duh! The OP then states: - "I added all the Allure IR's but the EVH1 still cannot find the 67_Greenback. I obviously need to do more than just importing them." Ye gods, the "READ ME" pdf that comes with the IRs lists all 6 impulse responses that are included - they are:- • Allure_59_Tweed_P10N.wav • Allure_64_A30_G12.wav • Allure_64_USDeluxe_P12N.wav • Allure_67_Brit_Greenback.wav • Allure_70s_WhoWatt_100.wav • Allure_90s_Cali_V30.wav Please reassure me that I'm not going mad - how many 67 Greenback IRs do you see? I noticed only yesterday that long time forum contributor, and Line 6 Beta tester, Peter Hamm was being castigated over a post he made on Facebook where he commented about some folk just wanting other people to supply all the answers and not actually do any of the work. Another guy on FB mentioned that he had, at the age of 54 just purchased a Helix floor and thought he would need a degree in rocket science to use it without expert training and he was employing a mentor for a couple of weeks. He claims to have a post grad degree - I don't believe half of this nonsense. I'm getting to old for this.
  3. I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go - one more time. There is no need to keep going back to earlier versions - you should be able to update directly to the latest version - 3.11 Firstly go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HX STOMP then go to the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select Mac OSX from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, the click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.11 for your HX Stomp. Then you will also need the Firmware 3.11.0 Flash Memory, so repeat the earlier steps but from the software select “Flash Memory”. Once more repeat the earlier steps to find the Line 6 Updater version 1.23 - you will need this too. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are, (your DOWNLOAD folder is most likely). A word of warning - if you are using Firefox to download and you have previously downloaded the same items, it is not unknown for it to incorrectly open the older version, so be aware that you have the proper versions. Then: Remove all the previously installed Line 6 software from your computer and then restart your computer. Now run the HX Edit installer, this should now install the latest drivers for your system. Quit the installer and restart your computer once more. Make sure to turn off the power to your HX Stomp. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HX Stomp. Disconnect your computer from the internet and ensure that no other audio functions, or background applications are running. In fact do not have anything running that may interfere with the install process - do not allow your Mac to enter sleep mode, screensaver etc. Ensure that HX Edit is definitely closed and that you have your HX Stomp reconnected to your Mac by USB cable (do not use a hub) then hold down “Page >” while turning the power on. This will put your Stomp into Update/Safe Boot Mode ready to reflash the firmware - You may see a black screen on your hardware, but keep going. Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HX Stomp and the current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it concludes you need to perform a Factory Reset. When it completes you can launch the new HX Edit v.3.11 software and you should be good to go. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I have just spotted that you are using Chrome. I’m not sure if that has any significance to how your downloads are functioning, but I would suggest that you use Safari for this task as I know that works correctly.
  4. This may seem obvious, but a really good place to start is the manual. They are available to download for both the HX Edit Software and the Helix family of hardware products. Here is a link to the HX Edit version - see pages 16 > 19 regarding IR management. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4073a76078918763b52/application/pdf/HX Edit Pilot's Guide - English .pdf Even easier, click on the question mark in the lower left window of the HX Edit interface and select "Pilot's Guide" - it's built in. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi, Just to be clear, by saying “imported a few from the forum”, I would understand that to be a reference to CustomTone? Also, looking at your screenshot showing a preset named “EVH - EVH1”. With that limited information I checked CustomTone and it appears that the EVH preset actually states - “Using the 67_Greenback as the IR from the free Line 6 Allure pack found at: line6.com/allure” Well, if that is not enough to tell you…
  6. Why go backwards? It’s probably unnecessary. Thousands of happy Helix users in the world. When updating the firmware, you must follow the installation instructions to the letter - up to, and including, a factory reset and restore from back up. If you haven’t done this, then you will experience problems. From the 3.11 Update Notes: Anything else I should know? Yes. We STRONGLY recommend performing a factory reset AFTER UPDATING your Helix/HX firmware to 3.11 and THEN RESTORING YOUR BACKUP. (Backing up is part of the update process). Here's how to perform a factory reset. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP FIRST, AS A FACTORY RESET WILL ERASE ALL YOUR WORK! Helix Floor/LT: While holding footswitches 9 & 10 (bottom row, 2 middle switches), turn on Helix Floor/LT When weird stuff happens the first thing to do is perform a factory reset - here’s the full list of options. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Even more strange because, the reference video you posted for the SOS effect preset for the GT-100, was created by the very same guy who did the video explaining how to do that identical effect on the Helix - the one and only, most excellent Glen Delaune. Huh? As noted by “codamedia” in the earlier post - “You are assuming that every unit works the same :)” Oh, well, at least you got it to work.
  8. ????? ^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^ Jeez! We have gone from recommendations for EXP Pedals to the analysis of pro P.A., PowerCab, Studio Monitors against domestic hi-fi. Are you expecting a concert hall or recording studio in the front room? Biggest issue? You still haven’t said what the hi- fi system components are, but essentially it seems you really are over thinking this. If your wife has an audio system comprising turntable for vinyl, CD player, FM + DAB radio, USB input, power amp and speakers, and you are wanting to patch in your guitar rig in a domestic living room - it ain’t gonna work (at least no how you imagine it will). Completely unnecessary and far too much stress. How is all this stuff supposed to live together without total chaos. Buy a Powercab and drag it to the garage where you can do no harm. Hope this helps/makes sense. Happy New Year!
  9. And your contribution to solving the “no sound out” issue is…? The OP is annoyed that his unit doesn’t work as expected and referred to a thread from 2019. That thread mentioned “no audio” caused by a variety of reasons, possibly unrelated to the OP’s situation. He has been advised to perform a factory reset, and subsequently to contact Customer Support. He says that he has raised a ticket with them and will post any development here. We are all still waiting to see what happens as this is a user group not visited by Line 6 staff. Maybe the guy is just plain unlucky, because if you check his other posts (rants) he doesn’t seem to have much success with either his HX Stomp or HX Native. Now, I might be cynical, but… Hope this helps/makes sense. Happy New Year!
  10. Oh, that’s good news. The main problem that still remains is you haven’t given us any specifics of the existing hi-fi setup. We need to start somewhere in comparing sound systems. As noted by “DunedinDragon” in the post above, most hi-fi speakers are “tuned”, or “sweetened” for the general listening environment. The Powercab and PA system are really designed for bigger spaces and different job. Studio monitors are what are used by audio engineers to record, and reproduce audio from many sources, as accurately as possible. His comments are spot on in these respects. To give you the the full technical insight of the differences, check this article from those in the know. https://www.neumann.com/homestudio/en/difference-between-home-stereo-speakers-and-studio-monitors Oh, yeah - your IK iLoud monitors are great for your near field desktop set up, but as you noted they don’t fill the large space. Not really surprising as they are 50w driving a 3” paper cone - definitely not what they are designed for. Larger bi-amped monitors with 7or 8 inch LF driver one inch tweeter would be more efficient in moving the air. Hope this helps/makesn sense.
  11. Whoa! Oh, no, no, no - this has just taken an unexpected turn, and that is down a road that I would rather not travel. Suddenly, and out of nowhere comes the statement - “and they can to used with my wife's stereo system”. Yeah, right! Nope, no way never will I genuinely get involved with that - you really need to speak with her about your idea of turning your home front room into something other than it’s intended purpose. Suffice to say, you had replies in the Powercab forum, basically saying that even though the PC 212 will do stereo, yes! Although it’s not quite what most folks would expect (by most folks, I really mean your wife). The Yamaha DXR10 are FRFR 700w speakers, and maybe overkill when placed beside your wife’s $300 hi-fi system (as you noted in the other thread). In the real world, high fidelity domestic speakers are a completely different beast from live P.A. systems and/or studio monitors. Here endeth my input. ;-) Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi again Kid (jsakoian), Damn it - you change your I.D., and then start new threads with questions that are almost the same as you have already asked, and had replies to. Maybe a little reading might help - check this regarding assigning controllers to the onboard EXP pedal. https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/helix/controller-assign Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I previously gave you a link to Mission Engineering regarding the switchable Line 6 EXP pedal - it is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE HELIX FLOOR!

Hi Marc, I guess you are referring to the David Gilmour sound on sound effect. If so, check out this video from Glen DeLaune, where he demonstrates the SOS in a patch and does a follow along (starts at 6:55) so you can create your own preset. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. That particular switched model of Mission Pedal is designed to work specifically with the Helix Rack, Rack Controller board and HX Stomp. Info in link below. https://missionengineering.com/shop-2/products/expression/specific-use-exp/sp1-l6h/ The Rack has the facility of a Toe Switch socket on the rear panel and the HX Stomp has a single jack socket (EXP1/2) and the Mission Pedal does the physical switching through TRS cable. The HX Stomp ca use 2 EXP pedal provided they are wired to TIP (EXP1) and RING (EXP2) A single (or even 2) external EXP pedal can be used with the Helix floor, but the thing to remember is that when us add a Wah, Pitch Whammy, or Poly Wham block to the signal chain it is automatically assigned to be controlled by EXP1. Likewise, adding a Volume or Pan block will be assigned to be controlled by EXP2. Therefore your built in EXP will function as the Wah control and via the Controller Assign menu you can assign the external pedal as EXP 2. You could rearrange things a little so that you select your Wah block with the joystick. Press menu button (next to SAVE button). Press controller assign. Select Learn Controller. Move your Eternal EXP pedal back and forth. Your expression pedal is now your Wah and your built in pedal should handle Volume. Here's an example of how to Auto Engage a Wah Block using an external EXP pedal - no switches. You also mention using the built in pedal to control other parameters. This is perfectly normal with both he built in and external pedals, essentially you can assign anything to anything. Example changing feedback and delay times in a Delay block or the rate and mix on a Flanger. You really need to look into using Snapshots, which are a big helps with this sort of thing. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Here ya go. Money no object https://missionengineering.com/shop-2/products/expression/specific-use-exp/ep1-l6-line-6/ Cheap and cheerful (I use these) https://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-EX-P-Expression-Pedal/dp/B000NLRWEI Both do the exact same job - sweep a variable resistor (potentiometer - rheostat) with a treadle. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, I’m with “rd2rk” on this in respect of your idea of a “front room” set up - the Helix floor is the way to go. It’s just one thing to pick up and move, less wiring to contend with (patch bays etc.) The floor is a self contained unit, comprising 8 channel Audio Interface, complete with XLR mic input and phantom power, plus all the required digital modelling and expression pedal built in. You don’t mention what you will be using for monitoring this “front room” rig, but add a pair of (minimum 5”) powered monitors, stick the iPad (iPhone) on the USB (Camera Connection Kit) and you’re good to go. I am studio based, but use the floor model on a stand right by my side which enables me to make on the fly edits. Ha! What about the expression pedal if it’s on a stand you cry! No problem - I use 2 M-Audio cheapo, cheapo pedals in the exp inputs. These are great and do the job and are used almost daily. Plugging in extra bits and pieces is simple as I can see everything along the rear panel. With a rack mounted version you possibly need to have a patchbay and all the extra wiring that entails to access all the ins and outs without scrabbling around like a coal miner in the back of the rack (ye gods, I’m too old for that nonsense now). Helix is hooked up to Logic Pro on my 32GB iMac Retina 5k to handle guitar, bass, external 18” rack synth modules, vox etc. A pair of 8” Tannoy Reveal powered monitors are patched to the Helix XLR out. An Arturia KeyLab 61 controller keyboard works both the hardware and soft MIDI synths along with an X-Touch universal controller handles all the DAW mixing duties. Works a treat. Sell your Steinberg UR816C and get some decent speakers. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, Have you tried running Native using Rosetta? Lots of other people are managing to run Logic and HX Native that way. Also - info posted here: Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: There is also this - (you may need to reinstall Logic) https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253384502
  18. I realise you feel like letting off steam, but as this is a new unit, and only a week old, it is still under warranty. Simply have it swapped out for a new box - end of problem. As for the “lockup and whistle fault” - the first thing to do when weird stuff happens is try a factory reset on the unit. Hold down FS6 and TAP while turning the power on. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. No, no, no! I just spotted your response as I posted my reply, but here we go - let’s get this sorted out. O.K. Using your Helix as an audio interface is fine - I use my Helix floor with Logic Pro X on an almost daily basis - I also have Helix Native as a plug-in. Anything you wish to record complete with the full stereo Helix processing of the chosen preset will arrive in Logic via USB channels 1&2. If you wish to record the unprocessed mono signal simultaneously, that will arrive in Logic on USB channel 7. After recording the dry signal on channel 7, it can be sent back out to your hardware Helix to be re-recorded using any other preset or combination of amp and effects you choose by setting the Helix to listen to the audio in on whatever USB you are sending out from Logic other than USB 1&2. Like wise that dry channel 7 audio can be sent through the HX Native plug-in and any preset or combination of effects you choose. Any audio sent out to the hardware Helix on USB 1&2 will pass through to the audio out bypassing any Helix processing and effects. That way you can play along with backing tracks from Logic, YouTube, iTunes etc. while jamming along using favourite Helix tones. Hope this helps/makes sense. See the Manual re: Audio/USB Here’s a video on re-amping using a LT exactly the same for the floor. And here is using Native:
  20. Exactly what “rd2rk’ says in the post above. You seem to be over complicating the situation. I cannot understand why you want to use Native, when you already have the hardware Helix hooked up for playing live? If you are using Logic Pro to simply to supply backing tracks, you can play along using your Helix as usual. Simply hook up your P.A., desk or speakers to either the XLR or 1/4” outs on the Helix. I have both Helix floor and HX Native and it’s simply - “horses for courses”. Use Helix to monitor your live processed audio and also record the dry (Direct Inject) track in order to re-amp as required. You don’t even need to use MIDI for footswitch for changes to stomps while playing. On the other hand you can use a MIDI floorboard controller (eg: FCB 1010) to switch various MIDI options while playing back a dry track through Helix Native. Solution - use your Helix to play along with stuff, and use Native to do Helix style amps and effects on any other unprocessed audio tracks. Well, actually you can use Native on any audio track to create any extra processing you like, but basically that’s it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Thank you. I’m glad to know that you managed to fix the issue with Native, and I appreciate that it’s not something that you should have to do. I have been using Apple Mac since the days of the Mac Plus running System 4 from a single sided floppy disk, (an external hard disk was added later with the incredible storage of 20MB). It used to be easy, when you loaded something in - it just worked. The past few years have been chaos, adding a new application could lead to the entire house of cards falling over. Have super cool and festive Yuletide.
  22. From the first black banner header at the top of this page: Quote: “Line 6 has appointed the Line 6 Experts to moderate the forums, but occasionally, Line 6 staff will post to certain threads. As these are community support forums, please remember that your post is not a direct message to Line 6. If you need to contact our technical staff, please do so at www.Line6.com/support. ” If you are having a problem with the Helix Native plug-in, then the only way to attract the attention of Line 6 staff is to raise a ticket with Customer Support. Anything else is futile. I realise if you have to buy a new machine you are stuck with the OS it ships with, but Apple seem to have annoyed the entire music industry with this last couple of moves. After a quite a few years of refusing to update from a perfectly functioning OS, a couple of day back I took the plunge to move to Catalina. It was somewhat forced on me as I had recently bought a piece of software that does not function on anything less than Mojave. After leaving the machine running overnight to do it’s stuff, imagine my delight to discover that when I went to load Logic Pro X, it decided to trawl through my previously fully working AU plug-ins and trash approximately 50% of them. Why? Security? Yeah, right. It’s possible to over ride this with a little routine in Terminal, but why did the “Gods of Cupertino” make this decision and not give me the option. Apple are becoming a real PITA. I’m now having to spend my time re-aligning my music system because the Apple OS didn’t like something that I did. Luckily, it didn’t throw out Native, and no matter how much it nags me to update to BS - I will give it a swerve. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Still got the hardware version in the rack - preset 15 “Symphonic” is a total classic effect, and then preset 2 “Room Reverb” is nasty enough for snare drums. I hope Yamaha let Line 6 take advantage of some of these gems.
