  1. It’s not just the Editor app, or even other Line 6 software, it can be anything you have open that is using the USB and could cause interference during an installation. The USB link is always susceptible to “interrupts” and things like printers and keyboards don’t suffer from this to the extent that audio stuff does. I keep pointing people to this article, although I don’t know if anyone bothers to read it, but it should clarify a few of the things that you find to be a mystery. Hope this helps
  2. Hi Kenny, I’m not running “Catalina”, still on “High Sierra”, but what you have there looks to be an over zealous “Gatekeeper”, which is security built into the main OS. If you check in your System Prefs Panel there is an icon for "Security & Privacy", inside you will find General, FileVault, Firewall etc. Click on General and you should find the option to allow installation from an unknown source (Anywhere). It’s there to try and block any malicious software that could damage your Mac. You could try “right click” on the file to bring up a dialogue asking if you want to open anyway. Agree and you will have to enter your Admin password to allow the install to proceed. Failing that there is a software app called Pacify, that will allow you to open disk images etc. then you install from inside the package. find it here: https://www.charlessoft.com/ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This is due to an update in the way that gatekeeper works on Catalina. It’s looking for “notorisation” of the app. It’s effectively a certificate of good standing that is obtained by the dev uploading their app to Apple to check for malicious code which is then stapled to the app. It’s one step further than having a app signed with a developer cert.
  3. Be interested to know if this is simply something that happened with the Update when the Globals were reset, which it could well be, as noted by “NickM62” when reverted to 2.71 everything was fine. On the other hand, should it be the result of a sudden hardware failure, a repair is not too expensive. Approx £100 in the U.K.
  4. Hi, In this instance the license actually refers to the Authorisation of a computer or Line 6 Hardware in order to use it.You need to run the Line 6 License Manager to authorise a computer or product. To remove it you also need to run the Line 6 License Manager to deauthorise a computer or product. check the link below https://line6.com/account/licenses/instructions/ That should do it.
  5. There has been some comments from Mac users, who later report that they had done some wrong - mainly not following the advised procedure and going it alone. Then they found that they should have installed HX Edit first - mainly that sort of stuff on the FB groups. The Windows thing seems to be people having issues with the driver for the hardware. As this firmware is a major change to the Core system it appears that the new firmware overwrites the old and then reboots itself about half way through in order to finish the update. Obviously Line 6 were aware of this scenario and told users not to panic - of course some did. Once again you have a situation where the Core has to be installed from a vast amount different of PC systems, many of which may have been customised for certain things and Line 6 will not have been able to check how the install will work on all options. Simply re-installing the drivers has been the major work around that I have seen. No doubt Line 6 CS are dealing with an avalanche of "2.80 bricked my Helix" complaints, which is crazy because possibly the same people were the ones clamouring for it to be released. Anyhow, Line 6 now have an army of testers finding bugs.
  6. Hola Jose, If you are ever going to update you will eventually get to the point where it will be 2.80, so why not now.? Anyhow, we have been through all of this previously and I am still very confused about this problem. You say that your Helix hardware is updated to v.2.71 - if that is correct then it will state that information on screen as it boots and also you can see it in the Global settings. If you hardware is on 2.71 then you HX Edit application should be named HX Edit 2.71 - it this is any other version then IT WILL NOT WORK! The HX Edit software is included in the package that you downloaded to allow you to update the Firmware in the Helix unit. The drivers for you Windows 10 machine are also included in the package for the update. If you think that the issue is with the drivers remove the ones on your computer and then download the 2.71 installer again, this will put in the new drivers. Find all older versions of the HX Edit application and trash them so that you only have HX Edit 2.71 available. Restart your computer and connect to the Helix unit with a good USB cable and port (NO HUB). Now when you launch HX Edit 2.71 it should connect to your hardware device. If this does not work I am sorry, but I don't know what else to suggest except go to v2.80 firmware, take a deep breath and pray! Maybe you know a 14 year old kid who hacks computers and phones who could do it. ;-)
  7. Well it's pretty obvious to me that the clue is in the Message Header! Internal Server Error The web crew maybe carrying out a service or updating stuff or too much web traffic with people wanting to download new stuff. It all puts a strain on the system - try again later. Until then you could do what "two-torriate" suggested in the post above.
  8. Hi, You don't say what type of Helix - Floor, Rack or LT and how old it is. I have owned my floor unit since November 2015 and a couple of weeks back the rotary section of the joystick failed. No warning, nothing playing up. just stopped - dead. It happens without warning and at first you think that you maybe imagining it, but no - it's gone. With mine, the jog function still worked and similar to you I found that I could use HX Edit as a work round, but it needed to be fixed. PITA to try saving and naming a new preset on the unit. If it had happened just after a firmware update, like you, I would have suspected that as being the cause. Although on various sites around the internet you will find comments from people who have had the joystick fail on units that are almost new and older ones that have been on the road for years. It's not a big deal, and if it actually is a hardware issue rather than a problem caused by the Firmware update, it will probably be one of the solder tags has failed and needs reconnecting. Have a Line 6 Service engineer check it out if it's still under warranty, or even if not, it will still need mending. Hope this helps
  9. Hi, Just to say that the post from "codamedia", above get my vote. If you care to look at what Line 6 have to say about the USB situation - this is from 2006 and in 3 languages.
  10. Hi, That “temporary” or something, that you mention occurs when Logic Pro X cannot detect the audio interface that was previously connected. It will try and create an audio device from whatever else it knows is available, usually the internal Mac sound option, although I have had it try to configure itself to use Soundflower. You just need to switch to whatever is actually connected, for example when I physically disconnect my Helix, Logic creates a “temporary” thing until I tell it to use the U-phoria UMC204HD even though it was already hooked up to the Mac. I would also guess that your recordings sounding “gibberish” could be that they were attempting to playback, but using the wrong sample rate i.e. recorded at 48 and playback at 44.1kHz . Most of this is more than likely due to the driver being screwed up. Glad to know that you managed to fix it.
  11. Hi, i thought that that you would simply upgrade to v2.80 now that it is available? In order to update to v2.80 you only need to go to the Line 6 download page and from the “- All Software -” tab select HX Edit, the from the “- All OS -“ tab select Windows 10, next click the “GO” button. This will take you to the latest version download. THIS IS THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD! Go here and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS in the first post and then READ THE RELEASE NOTES in the link! It’s easy!
  12. Hi, i understand that you’re unhappy with the situation, but your comment is rather vague and doesn’t get us very far! It would help to know, computer type and operating system and if you had other versions or demos that did work fine, otherwise we have no idea what the cause might be! Even with the info there’s no guarantee it can be figured out, but we can try. First thing to try is, remove any existing versions of Helix Native, including drivers if it is a Windows machine. Then do a clean re-install and restart the computer, then launch Cubase, or Reaper.
  13. Hi Alex, I had a look on the Line 6 Support > Manuals> Computer section and it seems that the document has not been updated yet. There is a copy of the Pilots Handbook built in to Helix Native help as a pdf, I made a copy and you can find it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vyl0t55jlcd1ijk/Helix Native Pilot's Guide.pdf?dl=0 Hope this helps.
  14. Hi, The Factory 2 Setlist ends at slot 24C, after that they are blank New Preset slots. In the Factory 1 Setlist you will find some presets which are using the the new amp models etc. Examples: 02A Grammatico Brt 03D Revv Gen Red 06A Fullerton Nrm So, my guess would be that it's supposed to be like that, but do remember one of Digital_Igloo's favourite sayings is "all presets suck!" Check his T-Shirt design in this old thread about presets. https://line6.com/support/topic/25987-preset-list/
  15. That’s really strange, there has been lots of authorisation issues with previous versions of Native, this update was supposed to be fixed. Although, there are always a few bugs to squash in new releases, hopefully not too many this time round. As you are the owner of this thread it means you can edit the title by adding “SOLVED” at the end and/or add a tag . There should be a “+ Add Tag” button under your name at the top left hand corner of the page, where you can create a tag for anything. Thanks Enjoy, your now functional, copy of HX Native.
  16. Hi, Have you tried to de-authorise your computer first. There may have been a glitch in the authorisation procedure. You don’t mention what version of Reason you are using, so please check that your version of Reason is 64bit - HX Native cannot run in a 32bit DAW.
  17. Hi, Well, you managed to solve the situation, because what I was going to suggest was try de-authorising Native first. Looks like that’s the fix. Changing the name of the computer causes confusion as you can authorise 2 devices, the system may assume that you have used all your allocated authorisation for the plug-in. Thanks for posting the updated info. Also if you could mark this thread “SOLVED”, it may be helpful to others.
  18. Hi, Although you don’t say what computer and OS you are using (it’s helpful to know this sort of stuff), I would recommend that you check that your copy of HX Edit actually is v2.80. It’s not unusual for someone to still have a link to the older version causing the problem. if that’s not the problem, follow the advice in the above post from “HonestOpinion”, remove all Line 6 software and re-install.
  19. Hi, Good to know this is fixed for you. Really, because you started this thread, you need to now mark this thread “SOLVED” to let others know everything is .O.K. Thank you.
  20. Hi, Well, the current advice has been available for quite a while. In order to update to v2.80 you only need to go to the Line 6 download page and from the “- All Software -” tab select HX Edit, the from the “- All OS -“ tab select Mac OSX, next click the “GO” button. This will take you to the latest version download. THIS IS THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD! Go here and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS in the first post and then READ THE RELEASE NOTES in the link! It’s easy really!
  21. As noted by “TheRealZap” in the post above, once you own it the updates are free. If you seem to have a “clash”, then it may be worth removing the old version first to avoid this happening. It’s not something that I have encountered, but if you only have one version there can be no clash. Hope this helps
  22. Bedankt voor het, het is erg handig voor alle Nederlandse Lijn 6-gebruikers. Goed om te weten dat je de update uiteindelijk hebt voltooid. De beste wensen van de groep
  23. HO, If your comment is referencing the post I made regarding “tweaks” to the sound of Helix, I would guess that if any mods were made to the sound of the unit, then they would be positive “tweaks” to add a little gloss to the product. They aren’t going to be something detrimental to the product, and destroying someone’s hard work in creating a preset. That sure is a “tightrope walk”, it will not be something that could be considered detrimental to the overall sound of the units. I would appreciate a little bit of sheen to my stuff, but ultimately, we all know that you cannot polish a turd, although you can roll it in glitter! I don’t want anybody messing with my tones, but these guys have the “secret sauce” and a if it adds little bit of glamour it doesn’t go amiss. (Note: I use the term “glamour” in it’s proper magical sense - Google it if you are unsure) Don’t worry folks - it’s all an illusion- an auditory hallucination and it really wasn’t me who said it in the first place. Oops!
  24. Life’s too short for me to go back and trawl through every little bit of FarceBuck looking for stuff to validate a throw away comment, but IIRC the guys name was Ivan and also, even though DI likes to have fun, Eric posted this this regarding the Factory presets. I realise you are a beta tester and know the inside track, I’m simply reporting what I saw. Probably wrong, but hey... EDIT: The name that I mentioned is incorrect, not Ivan, but rather Igor. So if I’m not mistaken, once more, that would probably be Igor Stolarsky, Embedded Systems Engineer at Line 6. He was possibly making a joke about it, similar to the way DI does. I mean, we all know it’s down to the “placebo” effect, or maybe the Globals being reset.
