  1. Hi Jake, You don't say what computer system you are using, but if its a Mac the you could create an "Aggregate Device" which allows you to have both your Helix and UMC204HD connected to your USB ports at the same time. This would allow you to keep your Yamaha HS8 monitors hooked up to the Behringer box for audio out and Helix could supply the audio in. This "trick" is not available on a Windows machine, but there are work arounds by using ASIO 4 ALL. Here a link to the Apple Knowledge base article on how to set up multiple audio interfaces: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202000 Here's a demo video on how to do it with a Mac: Here's the Windows Technique using ASIO4ALL Hope this helps/makes sense
  2. That's really excellent! Judging by the previous replies, now our friend is only going to be able to understand 2% of that. Also, I have previously quoted great chunks of the Clarett Manual which explains this and it has either not be read by the OP or totally ignored. What else can anyone do? I despair!
  3. I decided to go the extra mile on this one, so here ya go, check these guys out - they may be able to help you. The Line6 MIDI MAD SCIENTIST CLUB https://www.facebook.com/groups/1149598418555545/ “This is for those of us who are looking into the HELIX as a hub for so much more. We start from the concept of the LINE6 dream rig and push forward for the most portable, dynamic, collapsible and modular solutions possible. This group is meant as a collaborative area where we can post and share solutions to both common and obscure connectivity issues. Everything from iOS apps to midi controllers, to lighting rigs, you name it, if you’re integrating new functionality into your rig, we want to hear all about the how and why.”
  4. My late mother told me that there would be days like this, so that’s it guys- this is getting into borderline insanity. It’s all my own fault really. Anyone wanting to run a Teenage Engineering OP-1 Mini through a Helix and into an iPad, with a mic and a Live Looper app should have been a big clue! What’s worse is the title of the thread should have made me run away screaming. If some one asked you what not to feed a lactose intolerant cat, and you advised them what to avoid, don’t be surprised at the results when they go on to feed it milk! I’m outa here.
  5. Only just spotted your comment about legacy reverbs. Well, if memory serves, those are the reverbs that lived in the old Line 6 “M” units and I think most work in stereo. It’s worth bearing in mind that if you need a stereo ‘verb to be mono just add a mono FX block behind it and it collapses the signal to mono. Use some thing that’s not using any processor power, like a mono gain block.
  6. I got that email about the MEGA subscription too. Mmm. I dunno yet.
  7. Damn! Now I see. That threw me - for a moment there I thought that your comments were a reply from the OP. Well in your situation that's the way to go, considering your monitors are tethered to another audio interface and you have used all available paths - fine. I have no issue with that and there's no need to patch in your Helix simply to listen to your computer beeps. Although I don't think that is exactly what's being discussed here. The thing is, that when you read the comments made by the OP, they appear to be somewhat confused by the whole thing of what signals take what paths and wether there would be enough "juice" in an iPad to power the USB. Er.. No! The addition of an essentially 2 channel USB interface with a few more via ADAT is a pointless expense and may become even more mind boggling for the poster. But - hey if someone wants to do that - well that's entirely their choice - not my concern. I feel certain that I did state, "It’s just my opinion" - oh, yes, I just re-read it and I did.
  8. It didn’t have any effect on me - I was wearing my tin foil hat! ;-)
  9. Hi, O.K. you have a Helix and you want to add a mic and a synth - what’s the problem? Helix certainly has enough ins and out to cope. My Helix replaced my Focusrite Saffire as an interface three and a half years back - FireWire was no longer any good to me. Your audio is only converted to analog when it leaves the digital domain. As long as it travels back and forth via the Helix USB it remains digital plus you have all 8 channels of audio and full MIDI communication. You would have a pointless AD/DA conversion going on if you use the inputs on the Clarett 2, although it does have an Optical connection on the rear panel. This is quote from Clarett the user manual: OPTICAL INPUT – a TOSLINK connector carrying eight channels of digital audio in ADAT format at 44.1/48 kHz sample rate or four channels at 88.2/96 kHz. These are simply additional inputs to the Clarett 2Pre USB. This input is disabled at 176.4/192 kHz operation. This input is also capable of accepting an optical S/PDIF source. I would add that if you haven’t done so already - download and read the manual: https://customer.focusrite.com/sites/customer/files/focusrite/downloads/32407/clarett-2preusb-user-guidev1.2.pdf I’m going to lump all this into one! The quote is from the manual once again. Focusrite Control is the software application used with the Clarett 2Pre USB. It allows you to create a custom monitor mix for each musician, and also to specify the routing of all audio signals to the physical audio outputs. All sample rate selection, digital syncing and buffer size settings (Windows only) are available from Focusrite Control. Not according to the manual: The Clarett 2Pre USB must be powered using the supplied AC adaptor (PSU). Connect the PSU to the rear panel socket and turn the unit on with the power switch. It’s just my opinion, but I really cannot comprehend why you want to go down this complex route when all you need to do add a mic and a pocket synth is plug them into your Helix. Good luck spending your money for the wrong reasons - now that’s what I would call quirky!
  10. Two Notes GUI, very slick and the UAD OX = MONSTER! WTF! That thing is ridiculous!
  11. While we are all sitting around waiting for the arrival of the “second spring”, has anyone else been looking at what else is already available out in the big wide world, and Summer NAMM is almost here. I though that the TH-U FULL from Overloud look like an interesting offering for the software and recording crew. Swap and Variac the valves, shimmer reverb, up to four mics on cabs, either in front or behind, something that seems to be profiling for entire rigs and heaps more. Reasonable cost. I know that a few guys on here are fans of S-Gear from Scuffham so I may also take a look at that with the 15 day free trial and a good price if I decide to buy. Anyone else come across anything out there with interesting/usable feature and options that they think could or should be in the Helix family? I have always liked the idea of multi-mics on cabs and hope Line 6 may add the option in future - you can do that with AmpliTube! My Helix Floor needs to go in for repair and the new version of Native is still “under construction”, so I just thought I may spark something to discuss.
  12. I haven’t checked that out yet, but I had a quick look and noticed the additional tuner - super accurate! ;-j
  13. Hi, As you already have the powered monitors, just connect them to your Helix via 1/4” or XLR and connect the Helix LT to your Mac with a USB cable. In Logic Pro X you can select the Helix LT as the audio in/out device to record your guitar and play back full audio mixes. Check your owner’s manual for full details of the connections page 55. You will be able to playback iTunes, YouTube or any other audio from your Mac and the LT acts as your soundcard. Hope this helps.
  14. As noted - this update is the major one, so far, and as so many folks managed to screw up on the installation process previously, there may well be a lot of guidance required on his one. I think there may be ongoing amends to the already published "It's NOT Out Yet" document. Some one made comment in another forum about how Line 6 were making this "backup routine" sound very scary, to which DI replied that they wanted to make it sound like that - his usual standard of humour of course. It may well have been Eric or Tony who has also surreptitiously modified the "sticky" thread to read "Helix Firmware 2.80 (Available [second] SPRING 2019)". This integration of the Keyboard thing is going to be interesting - stick around it's gonna be fun!
  15. Hi, RAR, When you click on the link in the message from "lungho", above, it will take you to the Dropbox facility. Unfortunately, Dropbox doesn't have the ability to preview the Helix filetype (.hlx), but if you click on the blue Download button, it will download the file to your computer to wherever you downloads usually land. To use the file "Bottle Message.hxl", simply open your copy of HX Edit and then drag the file over an empty or new preset slot, (as noted by "silverhead" above), then when the pop-up asks if you are sure you want to overwrite the highlighted preset just click yes. Obviously as you think that you have inadvertently messed up the original Factory preset you can replace that by dragging the file over the original version in Setlist Factory 1 Slot 22A and click "Yes". Hope this makes sense and/or helps.
  16. Additional info regarding tones posted to Line 6 Customtone. Due to the changes in Firmware v2.80 any patches created in the new version will appear blank if you try to load the preset in any earlier versions of the firmware. In short, any presets created in v2.80 are not backwardly compatible with v2.71 and earlier. Obviously any, and all, of you custom presets made with earlier versions of the firmware will be automatically converted for use with the latest version when transferred via HX Edit to your Helix, HX Effects, HX Stomp or Native. This has been a Public Information Post ;-)
  17. Hi, I have to agree with some of the other comments on here - back off the wah in the mix until it sounds right to you. Mine are around 70 - 75%.
  18. You see, I said that you are the guy for “proofing” this stuff. I have had another look at the instructions and it seems the comment that you made about “Steps” has been addressed and corrected. The stages are now listed from Step 1a through 5b. The only other thing the you mentioned previously, and I totally agree with, is that more emphasis should be put on the “Do not use any sort of USB hub” statement. That is a continual PITA. To answer your curiosity about new factory presets, these are comments left by Digital_Igloo on the Helix FB group. Eric Klein We add/delete/tweak presets every update, but you'll never see them unless you specifically load them, as updating never overwrites existing presets. also this, Eric Klein Yes, they've all been tweaked. Plus new ones. They all suck, tho', because they're presets. Hope this helps - even tho’ they all suck!
  19. Thanks DI, you just beat me in posting my comment, but I will leave it there as reference. Hopefully it will all make sense in the end.
  20. Thanks. I know what you mean about Native being an afterthought. The continual occurrence of the same bugs just go to show it. That “1.50 Available” sticky has irritated me for a very long time - it’s just sloppy maintenance and it happens throughout these forums. Thanks HO, although, you are usually the “go to guy” on proof reading this stuff. It is good to see that Line 6 have decided to put some effort into creating a guide to updating. Let’s face it, every update has spawned a multitude of “how”, where” and “update bricked my Helix” posts and the same questions are asked over and over. The “Please Read before posting a new thread” on here has had over 80,000 views and was started by Phi Miller (phil_m) rather than a Line 6 staffer. It’s about time they took a lead.
  21. Hi, You are usually on very good at spotting minor goofs in these posts, but you must have missed the error in the instructions for how to backup from within Helix Native. STEP 1b—Backing Up Helix Native If you don't currently own Helix Native, skip this step. Open any instance of YOUR CURRENT VERSION Helix Native (NOT the new Helix Native 1.80) within your DAW and click the gear icon in the lower left corner to open the Preferences window. From the Presets/IRs tab, click "Export Bundle." Choose the destination folder and click "Save." In version 1.70 Helix Native there is no “gear icon” in the lower left corner, it was replaced by the “My Account” button in the “Marketplace” update. This “error” has also been commented/noted on the Helix Family Group on BookFace. Maybe someone from Line 6 (Tony, Eric) should deal with it swiftly, to avoid any more confusion.
  22. Careful, that comment could be regarded as "Off Topic", plus it even has it's own thread with updates from Digital Igloo, yay! https://line6.com/support/topic/48107-line-6-updater-is-required-for-the-upcoming-helix-280-release/?tab=comments#comment-301871 :-) Knowledge Base also has the info, ...and Frank R posted about it on FarceBuck too https://www.facebook.com/groups/line6helixusergroup/permalink/1235843993265938/
  23. There is no one here bothered about that anymore, now we’re all waiting for 2.90.
  24. Don't go worrying about that new fangled 2.90 thing. DI said half the team are working on that, which means the crew left to finish off the delivery of 2.80 are 50% down on manpower. Suppose the "half of the team" figure doesn't amount to much really. DI could just as easily said "one of the guys is working on 2.9, while the other wraps up 2.8" ;-) EDIT: The really big news for today is my rotary selector for editing has just decided to die! It will still jog but no rotation function - can still edit via the software on the Mac so I can manage for a while. Damn! The UK Service have closed for the weekend 15 minute ago, can't get things rolling till next week.
  25. Hi, I don’t have a HX Stomp to check this out, but simply by reading your description, my guess is you are experiencing the “pumping” effect of compression on an audio signal. The effect is very common on all modern EDM records. I could be wrong and if anyone knows anything different let us know.
