Hi Gregg1986, Firstly, you really would be a donut if you tried to do the update without asking, then have to come back here for help after it screwed up! O.K. You need to make a backup of any of your custom home brewed presets by using the version of HX Edit with the same version number as the firmware in the Helix. In this case v2.30. You didn’t mention what computer system you are using, but no matter, simply follow this procedure and all should be fine. When you are ready to start the update - from your web browser, navigate to the Line 6 downloads page, then you should select HX Edit under the All Software tab and then whatever version of Mac/Windows you are using from All OS on the dropdown menus. This will take you to the correct download page where you need to scroll down to find version 2.30. Install this and connect to your Helix via USB Cable and make your own backup of whatever you may need - don’t simply rely on a bundle backup, make safety copies of individual presets just in case. Once you are happy that all is good, you will need to return to the Line 6 downloads page and repeat the previous procedure to take you to the HX Edit 2.71 Update for your computer system. This is the only thing you need to download. When you download and install the new HX Edit package it will also install the latest Line6 Updater v1.15 and any other drivers etc., that you may need. After the new HX Edit software has been installed, reboot your computer. Doing a clean install should clear any glitches that were linking to any previous versions of the software you may have inadvertently installed. When you’ve done this, you can use the new HXEdit v2.71 to make a complete backup of all the presets on your Helix hardware. You will be able to tell that this is the latest Editor because in the lower left corner there is a new button labelled “My Account”. Next, shutdown HX Edit and ensure it is no longer running, this should avoid any USB conflict. Now you can launch the new Line 6 Updater v1.15, (you can click the about button to check the details if necessary). If all your USB connections are good the Updater should see your Helix hardware. Login using the new Updater, you can now proceed with the firmware upgrade over your internet connection. Do not disconnect or turn off the power to your Helix during this process. When completed your Helix will reboot and rebuild the presets, then you are good to go, no hardware reset is required. Hope this makes sense/helps. - I have copied and pasted this info from an earlier post in this thread.

Hi Munty and Sampipampi, You both should be able to update directly to the latest version of the Firmare, but I would suggest that you go to this thread which is pinned at the top of this forum. Read through and follow the listed instructions required to correctly install the firmware: Should you have any further problems with the installation, please post in that thread where it is most likely to be seen! hope this helps.

True - I should have remembered that, very well spotted, sir ;-)

Well don’t let “Spikey” know that - he may think it’s aimed at him, especially since that stuff in some previous release notes: ”For those who did complain (AND WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE), the new tuner will be unlocked once you perform ONE of the following:...” And there was also something from a while back about your car radio playing death metal at 5am, or something equally weird.

HELP: Helix LT cant be seen by HX Edit on my desktop
datacommando replied to cvpe913's topic in Helix
Hi czarkhanpe, You say that you installed HX Edit and drivers, but you didn’t say if you had updated the firmware, or even which version you have, along with your computer system - OSX ?, WINDOWS ? Useful to know when troubleshooting this stuff. NOTE: Your copy of HX Edit AND the Firmware MUST BE the same revision number. If your firmware in the Helix is v2.71 then the editor software needs to be v2.71. It is not unusual for someone to have performed an update and inadvertently left an older copy (2.7 or even 2.6) of the HX Edit app on their computer, which then launches from a previous “shortcut” to the app. Also don’t have any other programmes running in the background which could interfere with the USB connection. Other than that, USB is the usual suspect, although you say that you have tried different ports, you should also try different cables and do not use a USB hub. Hope this makes sense/helps. -
There is a comment on the Farcebuck Helix Family Pages asking why Jason Sadites had not been declared a Line 6 “CS Ambassador”, alongside the others listed like our very own “phil_m”? The answer came back from one of the administrators that there was no need because JS is already a Yamaha Guitar Artist. Stands to reason the guy is going to be in the loop.
-
If they are not on TGP then it will be BookFace where it seems that they have been giving accolades to some people by making them "CS Ambassadors", whatever that means. Weird scenes inside the goldmine!
-
Well, that voids your warranty then!
-
Ha, ha, ha - so that’s what you put in your Retsina (Ρετσίνα)? What goes with the Ouzo?
-
That’s insane, what possesses people to do something like that? They have no taste. There should be a law against that! Crime against wine!

Hi, From what I read in DI's post, it looks like Line 6 have supplied Templates for a whole lot of stuff, although I didn't see FL Studio in the list that doesn't mean that a template cannot be created for that product. To quote what DI said: "You can now control virtually any software ever made,..." That should do it!

Hi medieval21, I have a Helix Floor unit linked up to my DAW (Logic) full time and also run Native as plug in. I had some initial problems with Native after running the demo a buying the full version. Most of this stemmed from some bug in the “phone home” registration/verification routine in the software. It was a real PITA for me at the start, but was resolved and everything has been fine ever since. Yay! Great! It’s like having a whole bunch of Helix units inside your computer - way cool when it works. There is a downside to this, because there is a thread dedicated to HX Native and there are stacks of people having problems on both Mac and PCs, using various DAW programs, where Native is screwing up everything. Some fixes have worked and on other systems they fail for no apparent reason! See this thread: https://line6.com/support/forum/90-helix-native/ Other than that, if Line 6 gave managed to fix these bugs in the next firmware update, just do it - it’s like having as many extra Helix toys as your computer can manage. As long as you remember the limitations of your HX Stomp which can only use 6 Blocks.

Hi palladinojt. You are not alone - Go here and read this: Best solution is to boot into Safe Mode and re-install the Firmware - it’s like something got screwed during the update but it is fixable. As “crusinon2” points out - it’s a computer and computers do weird $hit.

Oh, fugit! it will happen when it happens.

The only thing you should put into a good single malt is - another one. Try a shot of Talisker, from the Isle of Skye, and then another one.

Hi, It all depends how you route the signal in and out of your computer. For example you could have your computer set to receive USB 1/2 In from your Helix and have another audio interface selected to receive the USB 1/2 Out as the audio output device and have your monitors connected to that. It just needs to be configured in your computer system. There is a similar situation where Helix can also transmit MIDI via the USB cable and when I have my Arturia Keylab controller hooked up alongside, I have the computer rigged to listen to MIDI info from the Keylab and USB Audio signal from Helix. There’s nothing to stop you having some smaller desktop monitors hooked up via an interface from the computer and also some larger studio monitor speakers on the Helix (or even FRFR) to cross reference your sound. Hope this makes sense/helps

It may well be that the 21st is the first day of summer, but during the run up to an earlier Firmware release a lot of folks were guessing - would it be out on Monday, Tuesday, etc., through to the weekend. There was no specific date quoted for that release, although at the time Digital Igloo posted that it wouldn’t be whatever day anyone was thinking because of various other things that had to be considered. One thing that he did specify was that Line 6 never release new firmware on Fridays - it’s usually mid week! Just saying because tomorrow is Friday and unless the rules have changed I would guess it ain’t gonna happen!
-
Well! Everybody knows that the bird is the word!
-
Meatloaf! - the artist formerly known as Mince! Oh wait... that doesn’t work. You guys refer to mince as ground beef. Rats outta Hell. I just remembered that DI once said that Line 6 don’t release new firmware on Fridays, which is the 21st. That must mean we only have to wait until...

Ha ha ha! I had forgotten about that - you see that's what happens when you don't have sleeve notes to read! Damn, that album is 45 years old!
-
Molly Hatchet - cover art by Frank Frazetta, (famous for Conan the Barbarian comic book covers). Also cover art for Nazareth and Wolfmother. That album always put me in mind of this one from several years earlier. Still off topic - A blast from the past - It's amazing what we find to do while killing time waiting for a firmware update to go live!
-
Back in the sixties and seventies, buying an album was a totally immersive experience. Gatefold sleeves, liner notes and incredible artwork were a big part of it. I know some people bought albums on the strength of the artwork alone and knowing nothing of the band on the record. It helped the career of quite a few graphic artists, Roger Dean and Patrick Woodroffe are a couple of examples. Oh, yeah, that huge paper didn’t survive.
-
Not just that one - I think I have all of them, maybe time to dig out out the Big Bambu!

Hi Hillman1312, Line 6 would like you to have some guidance on how to set up patches and it is a regular thing on here and the usual response is - “For the benefit of newbies, I have said it before, so I will say it again, one more time” - go here and learn Grasshopper. This is your Kung fu. Master Po: Close your eyes. What do you hear? Young Caine: I hear the water, I hear the birds. Po: Do you hear your own heartbeat? Caine: No. Po: Do you hear the grasshopper which is at your feet? Caine: Old man, how is it that you hear these things? Po: Young man, how is it that you do not?

How many people would like to see a medium size Helix?

Looks like it’s just you then, Goldie!
