  1. I'm a big fan of assigning multiple FX to a single foot switch e.g. I have one that switches on both overdrives simultaneously I also have a crunch pedal in a loop Now I can assign that to the foot switch above and have it switch off when I put both over drives on Is there a way I can also just switch it on and off by itself I'm trying to avoid that moment of clean as I switch one off and the other two on
  2. Not quite global though is it, if it is per cab!
  3. Apart from it hangs the unit on some of my patches (bug filed)
  4. Depends what your taste in distortion is like? In those scenarios you will need some EQ You can't have Global EQ on the digital outs for reasons that have not been adequately explained but if you use scenario one and roll a fair whack of top end off then you should get a better experience Here is my tone Everything including the bass is the helix direct https://soundcloud.com/user2646262/prayprayvox But you may not like that
  5. That's exactly what I was after thanksI would never have worked out how to do that from the manual. I didn't realise you could split path 2 into parallel and give them different inputs This thing really is mind bending :)
  6. What are you outputting too and do you have the outputs set to mic or line appropriately? Also I have a lot of top end rolled off on my Global EQ but it depends on the characteristics of your output device
  7. I've been gigging the same g30 for over 5 years now maybe 300 odd gigs in some of the roughest pubs Scotland has to offerIf you've got it on a pedal board it's hard for me to see how it can get damaged ?
  8. Unless you are going to programme it or solder it then why do you need a reference manual? I'm sure there is a fair bit of technical documentation internal to Line6 but if you are expecting a 'Haynes Manual' then I don't think it's realistic. It's already a heavy support overhead ... Can you imagine how many different ways people could run into problems if it were opened up like this? Then you get into propriety technology and intellectual property? If that's the level of hacking you want to do then this isn't the unit for you. I would say get an AX 8 but they won't give you any of that info either
  9. can you give an example of what you would like to see in a technical manual I'd wager most of the users on here are fine with the level of detail provided . I also think it's not an unreasonable stance to take not to pour a LOT of effort and resource into writing proofreading and updating something only a few people want (for reasons that are yet unclear) Oh and if you feel condescended by the replies perhaps you should consider the tone you open with? If you act like a brat you can expect to be treated like one

    Global EQ L6Link

No one? It's bit annoying to have no global eq when using the l6 link into l2ts
  11. See wiring example 11 http://www.rane.com/note110.html
  12. The lack of TRS does mean the use of semi balanced cables in 4cm has no effect though? I remember a post where someone asked about humbuster cables and was roundly shouted down It's not a massive deal but for the cost of putting them in it might have been smart to do it

    Firmware v 1.05

Both will get 1.06 soonish :)

    other multi fx

To be honest I'm not sure what would compel me to carry the extra weight of the G controller around. It doesn't really give you anything you can't get out of the Helix natively unless you are trying to build some truly massive FX chains? What is it about the G-System that makes you want to hang on to it?

    Firmware v 1.05

I thought we all knew we were going straight to 1.06 anyway ....

    other multi fx

They are Massive FX controllers with 4 pedal loops and amp switching ... Basically a helix without any drives or modelling (and an extra amp ext socket) But the delays reverbs pitch shifts and modulation are all very good indeed It's made of a massive bit of folded steel and as such will ruin you
  17. I've come from an M13 in a Diago case and a TC G system which seems to be made of sheet steel! So it's about the same as those although when I put the mission pedal and my Buddha Wah it was a pedal too far even for me On the plus side I don't need to carry an amp around now so it's swings and roundabouts
  18. You don't get me at all ;) I like backpacks and boards on a board Basically I have a wireless which has a patch cable and a pay requirement 2 pedals which need in and out patch cables and power. And an expression pedal which needs cabled You set it all up with the cables and power under the board and when you get to the gig all you have to do is put it on the ground and plug in the AC. Everything is where it needs to be and less stress on the patch cables Also it gets it off the deck in case someone knocks over a pint Finish the gig. Wrap the cables up and put it in the case and done
  19. button 1 switches channels and button 2 switches the Fx loop ? Is my recollection correct? It might be worth trying a trs to 2 mono adaptors at the amp end to find out if one of the functions (I suspect the FX loop switching) is causing the noise Sorry I don't have one of those amps here to try
  20. Sorry I'm typing on my phone at an angle and autocorrect is punishing me
  21. I seem to remember this amps were actually a 4 function foot switch? is the foot switch can't just a normal TRS? The other thing I remember is that the foot switch had LEDs I'm wondering if carrying power over the foot switch cable is causing an issue But you are saying that when you plug the ext into the helix on its own No other connections .. You are getting noise?
  22. I've put my Helix on a PT pro. You just need to remove 2 feet from the front. The rest go through the bars and help stop it sliding down the board Couple of long strips of velcro and off you go I like the mission pedal but at the moment I just added a L6 EP as a second pedal (mainly because of weight) I've got an EHX B9 in one of the loops and am about to put my King of Tone into another. There isn't anything wrong with the Helix drives. In fact they are Excellent but the King of Tone is MY tone. I'll get a picture up for info
  23. Plus it's worth mentioning that a lot of the Atomic Amp models came via an update ..
