  1. I've had similar issues in Studio One with the Helix (versions 4 & 5). I ended up using Asio4all whcih allows me to use my Focusrite Scarlett for playback but also record form the Helix simultaneously. Its not the cleanest thing but works well enough. I only find I have to re-assign lanes once in a while in "song setup".
  2. This spreadsheet is awesome. Thank you. I had a similar one I did from Ben Vesco's web site I made in excel but this is great work. Thank you
  3. Why couldn't you design a 2PDT that mimics the sweep from one resistance to another depending on what side of the switch you are on? I'm sure there is a reason, just curious.
  4. Ha- I did the original JSON edit that was around that kept the EQ and Amp but tried the same thing before and it does indeed work but its flaky beyond 7 effects . Since there isn't a Wah option in the category list I kept that and opened up 9 other slots to try and make a very flexible in-front-of-amp patch for quick jam get togethers which is mainly what I'm using this for over lugging my Helix around. If you try to make a patch with that though that is beyond 7 additional effects it wipes the patch on the unit etc. I made a send/return variant as well but haven't used that one yet. If you use the eq/amp included JSON patch that removes the volume / wah, etc, but keeps the Amp, the Del Sol amp uses very low DSP and is very stable. I'm only 'really' using 4-6 blocks per patch with different mods / delays or grit box types etc. Hoping they actually integrate this feature in lieu of doing this patch mod. Being able to do this was the decision to keep the unit versus letting it go for a different compact option, actually.
  5. As another had said, when looking for a Helix backup, I went with the Pod Go. It's very similar in terms of use, etc so it was a no brainer. I used the JSON patch edit technique to get some active additional blocks on the Go and as stock, there is plenty of DSP for a cover situation. Its to the point where if I'm just going to jam with a bunch of different, non-gig, situations, I just bring the Go with an Amp or No Amp set of patches and it meets the needs. I tried the HX Effects. It definitely seemed very powerful but the Go is sonically similar.
  6. I did the script edit out of the box for one additional free block and it added a huge amount of flexibility. Hope they recognize and add that in some way so future firmware recognizes it and we don't lose it. I use this as a gig backup to the Helix and its not paramount it remains but it made my life in interface usability and getting "close enough" fast a game changer. I've faced a couple DSP challenges that don't dissuade me from thinking differently about patches and getting very close for cover work. Moreover, for the price of the Pod Go to the Helix, that added functionality "felt right" in terms of value/cost/feature set.
  7. This book is great. Especially at digging into effect parameters and some different ways of thinking. Anyone out there who has StudioOne will also get a lot out of that publication CA did also on Sweetwater.
  8. I knew that even before I asked.... I did this after I logged a ticket 4 days prior and after I asked on the Facebook Line 6 Family User Group....
  9. Hi- I’m wondering what the solution was for this for you? I have just developed a similar issue.
  10. I play guitar and bass in bands. So I'll be subjective that while its difficult to replace a bass player, I've done the Local H / Japandroids thing in a couple side projects for that kind of effect. I send my signal to a path and pitch shift down and EQ out as much high end needed to eliminate the transients. Here is a template I did: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/3047449/. I've also gone in other direction, as others have, making pseudo power chords up an octave from a bass line, which is more fun than I can effectively communicate.

    Boss Tera Echo

The Dynamic split is touchy. Yeah, there's plenty of stuff in there to keep you entertained or to find an acceptable substitute.

    Boss Tera Echo

I found a way to come close. There is a sweep echo in Helix that works really well. I had a GT-100. I liked it but it didn't compare to the Helix. The biggest thing about the Tera was how your pick attack could drive the effect. I have come really close with a dynamic split ( basically a gate to the effect), the sweep echo and the chamber echo.
  13. Glad it worked for you! My Freq Out sit in its box as well.
  14. Great Update. I refer to your site often. Its a huge help. The fact you have links to original manuals is great value added. Thank you again.
  15. There is an amp in it but the signal path for the Feedbacker circuit is separate. Split A/B before the amp on the expression pedal-Logarithmic Volume also on the exp pedal--Simple Pitch +12-Vtron (start U, End A)- EQ with a mid bump-Red Comp (Max Sustain)-Chamber reverb. The Split B path back to the A path is also before the amp...I'm thinking on tweaking it now that the Helix has more effects available than when I first put it together. It does the job tho. The rest of the band likes it. Its good for a taste.
  16. I recreated the Freqout good enough to get me through a couple songs I needed that edge/into feedback kind of sound without having to bring it to a gig. Its on CustomTone. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/4237762/ . Operates a little bit differently by using the expression pedal but the instructions are in the patch notes and is the "Natural High" setting on the FreqOut. You may have to change outputs. Its set up as a gig patch using Input 2 for a bass path irrelevant to the Guitar Patch on input 1 so ignore that. I tried to use Autoswell on a momentary to bring in the path but that effect is overall frustrating and was better on the Exp pedal. Even with the FreqOut, I like the Exp pedal over a momentary anyway. If there was available LFO assignments like on the Digitech GNX ( maybe even RP) stuff, the path could be automated for a momentary better.

    Helix 2.9

Seeing a lot of cool immediately usable workflow uses with this update. I'm most excited about the Harmonic Antagonizer model. WOW. I also preordered the POD Go for the more-than-often warm up and cover gig stuff including ease of fit in a carryon. Be interesting to see if the product updates coincide. But I'm not bitching.
  18. I know, for me, the sounds are fine/great out of the Helix already. I don't need/want to change that at all. My basic tones haven't changed that dramatically. If I can get a more portable solution for the growing number of sit in or quick set up situations I see then its a perfect complement. Still depends on the sound and if the tweakability is enough that the lack of that deep diving isn't a distraction.
  19. That looks like a perfect quick, direct, portable, gig solution which is what I was looking for recently. I'm onboard. No XLR but they are balanced outputs so thats an available cable solution going into a snake/digi-mix box etc. Less tweakability which is fine-hopefully at least sag made the amp tweak list but can get around that. The models are based on HX and legacy stuff which is great. Would be OK without the expression pedal to easily use an outboard one but thats OK. Remains to be seen what it sounds like. 9VDC power supply so hopefully One-spot compatible, etc. ...Take my money.
  20. I think there is more area to trim here. Lose the big knob ( I replaced mine on my Helix Floor with a Phones knob I bought as parts as an example) . Tighten up the switches, Make the Mode/Tap buttons cycle between Bank up/down or snapshot on long-press and you'd lose 1.5"+ on the depth. Put the PS on a wall wart and the height/weight would decrease a lot. I love my floor and love how it works during a gig and set up but its a beast to cart around. Form factor wise my RP500 was the best product I ever gigged with - sonic limitations aside.
  21. It does seem like an unprecedented amount of big words. "Biomimetic" loosely means using natural / biophysical construct and modeling it for a human purpose. Again, a loose and probably not entirely correct definition but this seems like the work of a marketing intern that changed their major after their freshman year of chemical engineering or biology, etc. If is it related, they haven't really explained or I missed what in the natural world is modeled for its architechure. I don't think I'd make the leap that a Fender Bassman appears in nature.
  22. I wanted to do a similar thing. This doesn't work. Native doesn't show / recognize any MIDI IN in its status even when you can get something to work. I had to add a separate manual Helix "Control Surface" in Studio One to get it to recognize automation commands with the "Knobs/switches" thing in Native. Very convoluted. Trying to drag the hand into the VST window yields an "unavailable" symbol. Other VSTs (At least the ones I tried) are able to work in S1 as intended ( assigning CC#, MIDI learn, Etc).
  23. I read and followed the update process and it worked fine. One of the bugs had me contemplating rolling back so I wouldn't have to redo a bunch of patches I gig with but I got around it and I don't gig that much anymore anyway so it was an easier decision. I do agree with a previous comment that instructions may have been difficult for those that were not native English speaking. Also, the tongue-in cheek style of the writer of the instructions doesn't seem to be a pure "technical writer" but probably the product lead for what seems like a very small team that has multiple duties. While I'm also surprised there wasn't a full install package rolled out versus having to separately update Edit, Native, Updater(Firmware), many may do this process without really using the editor - or have Native, etc, etc. Pulling it apart maybe assures they get the full base and covers the possibilities how everyone uses this product and maybe single owners of multiple children of the product? Regardless, the new toys were never a guarantee when you put your money down. You don't have a contract up front that says "Line 6 will hereby provide said user with 4 new amps and 10 new features a year upon receipt of your dough" I'm definitely not a fanboy. I use this this equally as some other similarly featured multi-effects and gig with different stuff based on how I'm feeling to express myself. But I've got a ton of stuff that "is what it is" when you get it and thats it. I'm thankful they're giving me a choice to extend the life of the product if I want to.
  24. Thanks. I tried teh shorten name, replaced "-" with "_". I did already have them all in order in W10 so I'm not concerned about them not going back where they belong but its a weird thing. I will say that in Windows, there is a title to the wav file that is the original file name that seems like it may also need to be renamed. Which is *ugh* but at least they will load back in thesame order OK regardless of name.
