  1. Well I got lucky. I needed a tablet. Had Amazon Prime and was able to buy the brand new Kindle Fire Hdx 8.9" on time and I have been incredibly pleased with it. I actually used my friends iPad to update the firmware the first time but then have use the Kindle ever since. The new Hdx has a clear easy to read high resolution screen (HD) and is very responsive to changes. It also seems to have a really good bluetooth because It has never dropped the signal which is a problem alot of other tablets are having. So the Remote App works great and the Bluetooth works great but better than that. Once the bluetooth is connected to do not have to use the app. You can play any audio on your Kindle through the Amplifi FX100 and into whatever your main outs are running to. In my case its the P.A. which means drum machines, metronomes, backing tracks, Mp3s, or even music videos. So the combination is a winner for me. I also have it on my Android Phone, a Kyocera Brigadier and even though I don't use it as much it does seem to work quite well also. Just way harder to see on such a small screen. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
  2. I agree. Do you play your bass through the FX100? If so how does it sound?
  3. Wish I could help but the music should be stored in a music folder common to the device sort of like Windows does. Although I know that not all apps save it that way. On my previous android tablet which was almost identical to the Nexus I stored all or the music on an sd card in a folder called music and all of my players were able to find it. Most tablets will allow you to transfer all media to the sd card. It is somewhere in your settings. Though I never tried to use it with amplifi because it didn't have bluetooth. I know... hard to imagine now. As far as finding matching tones you are correct You would have to start out in amplifi. Search for the song or one similar. Load that tone and save it to my tones. Then open your player and play along. Sounds like a long way around but I tend to use the same tone for multiple songs. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
  4. I have the same problem with my Kindle. The FX100 music library does not see the hundreds of songs in my Amazon Prime. Therefore if I want to practice with those songs I have to exit the app and open the songs in the Kindle music app. I also use Rocket Player and it doesn't see all of my prime songs either. The songs have to be physically downloaded the my library and even then I don't know how to make the FX100 music library see them.
  5. It sounds like you are getting interference from somewhere. I personally have too many things going in my practice room which always make for a lot of noise and electronic interference. Especially if Im micing my amp. I also found out the hard way when using your phone as an interface have it in airplane mode or else you will announce to everyone in a loud and rude manner everytime you get a txt. I don't know if this helps. Maybe others are having the same problem. Are you using it by itselt "ie no other pedals between it and the amp" or before it for that matter. The FX100 likes pedals after it and not before it. Are you playing it through an amp or direct into a PA and if an amp have you tried a different amp. Is the gain on your amp turned up too high. If through a PA is its gain set too high. I have mine dialed in at about 25% on each input. I hope this helps! Hopefully someone else will chime in with some better wisdom. Merry Christmas mikefirman!
  6. I agree. A version ported to PC or Mac would be great but since my PC is "old" I don't currently have a use for it. I can see a world of possibilities though. Like starting with personal templates and constructing common banks so that you only have to do minor tweaking once connected. I say that because there have been times at work when I've had down time and could be constructing basic presets and populating banks. Then once home with the FX100 I could tweak the tones. I don't mind constructing a tone from scratch with my guitar around my neck but having to do multiples can be a pain. About the table battery. I am using a Kindle Fire Hdx 8.9". Once connected I never lose a connection. The screen stays on constantly "sleep mode is disabled during connection", yet I can spend hours practicing, even using the music library continually and I have never used more than 25% of the battery. And I do mean hours, like 8 to 10 hours at a time. I know that is not common for other tablets, primarily the Samsung Galaxies, and maybe I just happened to get a gem but it is worth checking on. Alot of people have been asking for the PC version of the app I can't see them not porting it soon especially with the speed of current PC's. I'm sure the deciding factor will be based on which platforms. With the recent introduction of Windows 10 and lack of support for XP, Vista, and Windows 7 they are probably not sure which ones to dedicate the coding time to. What we really need is a PC or Mac capable of efficiently running iOS and Android apps. The main reason would be to keep the portability of the apps while gaining the I/O's of the PC or Mac. I think that is what Microsoft is trying to do with the Surface Pro but since I can't afford one I cannot explore its capabilities. That being said anyone wants to buy me one for Christmas needs to order it now so it will get here by Christmas. " Just saying". :)
  7. Sorry rayaipo Busy Holidays. I never saw anything about tokens. Did you get your issues resolved? I am still enjoying mine. I'm a couple of long practices away from going live with it. You may have to go the long route like I did. Change computers or use a friend's wifi if it's more stable in til you get the update done. Should have been able to do a factory reset to clear the errors.
  8. There is no lag changing presets on the pedal. Which is what I thought you were implying. Once live I use only the pedal to change presets while performing unless its a song change whereby I change the preset ahead of time. There does not seem to be a lag when selecting a preset from the amplifi preset list. I do however see a brief lag when selecting from MyTones although I would never do that in a live setting. Hope this helps.
  9. Happy Thanksgiving and warm holiday wishes to all! Everyone please be safe and may you all be stuffed with Turkey. If not may someone find you wanting and promptly stuff you with turkey! Lol PEACE TO ALL!!!
  10. You can be connected via bluetooth but still not be connected to the app as it appears you are not. To use the Amplfi with android you have to update the firmware either via usb or by bluetooth using an iPad. They have a section with a tutorial to guide you through assuming you haven't already done it. If you have and it is still not working then there is someone else on here having trouble with the Galaxy. Haven't heard if he got it resolved or if maybe there is an issue with the Galaxy.
  11. I'm using the Kindle Fire Hdx 8.9". I also had to update the firmware before I could even get my Kindle to work. My problem was my Satellite Internet connection would not download the Amplifi Utilitly. I had to borrow my neighbors iPad, download the Amplifi App, update the firmware, reset, calibrate, then as you said the App still wouldn't work until I deleted it and reinstalled it. Now everything works great. Just did the newest update a week or two ago. I have only had one snafu with the bluetooth. 99% of the time it works great and never drops out. The Kindle Fire seems to have a really stable bluetooth as I have used it with several external devices, earphones, bluetooth speakers, screen transfers via bluetooth, and of course the Amplifi App. I would have assumed the Galaxy Tab would have worked great too. Is it a newer Galaxy?
  12. What type of computer are you using to update the firmware with. Several things to be weary of: Make sure you don't lose power. Make sure your firmware fully downloaded. And make sure your USB drivers are up to date. If all that is good.Try doing the factory reset prior to the update. Then remember to do it again after the update. This is all I know. Hope it helps.
  13. Sorry Psyco.... Can I call you Psycho? Haha. That is actually a good question. I was having a difficult time running a distortion pedal after the Amplifi FX100. Its just didnt drive right so to speak yet when I soloed the distortion pedal it sounded great. The Amplifi must attenuate the output to guard against clipping. Someone else on here posted that you have to put the pedals before the Amplifi or run them or the Amplif through the effects loop of your amp. It takes alot of playing to get your best or prefered setup. The amplifi sounds completely different running through the PA than it does running through an amp like a big noticeable difference due to most of the presets running amp and cab sims. Matter of fact the most interesting difference was when I was trying to run the tubescreamer in one of the preset. I just could not get it to sound right. Then I ran it only through the PA and everything sounded better. Now all of that being said I still run mine to an amp. Then I mic my amp. I love my FX100 so much I am saving up for the Firehawk. Hope this long drawn out explanation helps. Good luck!
  14. EXACTLY! I had more time last night to put it through its paces through the P.A. and through the Amp. And you're exactly right. A lot of doubling up of tones making the tones way too thick. The tones through the P.A. were much more accurate recreations of distortion and overdrive tones. Even the Acoustic tones were way more realistic. That being said, once I adjusted or removed the amp/cab sim from my tone then the sound through the amp was better but volumes became the issue. So if I spend any real time switching between using the amp and just running through the P.A. which I totally foresee me doing Then I may have to recreate all of my tones. Tones with an amp/cab sim and tones without. I did consider the powered speaker option which would give me the same tones as running through the P.A.exept that after playing it that way then switching back to the Amp I remember why I bought that amp in the first place. Unmatched clear tone with just enough headroom to feel like it has some power.
  15. Im using the Amp out. My main outs are connected to the P.A. I tried to put it in the Fx loop of the amp but did not like the sound. I do like the way it sounds when I unplug the Amp out and let it run through the mains and through the P.A. but then I'm missing a monitor unless I stand by a P.A. speaker. I'm using a Peavey Classic 30 with ext. speaker as my main amp. Once I get my tones right I planned on just miking the cab. I do however plan on ditching the amp on stages where room is a luxury.
  16. Did I miss something. Where would you plug an expression pedal in?
  17. I actually bought mine used from Guitar Center. Couldn't get the Amplifi Utility to download. Finally had to borrow my neighbor iPad to download the update so that I could use it with my Kindle Fire Hdx 8.9 newest generation. BUT.... even from the start and without the update my Kindle and my phone would connect via bluetooth and stream music. After finally updating the firmware my Kindle connects and controls the pedal 99.9% of the time. It has only failed to connect 1 time. And the only glitch seems to be in the playback of music sometimes but never in the control. My pedal and app are quick and responsive with almost zero lag when switching tones. It works equally well with or without the app on. Of course without the app I get a little lost in the presets. My android phone works equally well. My biggest and most consistant issue has been the saving of tones but that is for another topic.
  18. I really hope that is not the case. My seems to be working great. I really hope it stays that way. I dont mind using mine without connection to the app except maybe to change some volumes to coincide to the size of the room I'm in. I don't always have a sound guy sitting there tweaking the P.A.
  19. Thank you bhamnerky. That was really good information. That is what Im finding that its more about the amp and less about the screamer although the tube distortion does work well at time. And yes I was looking at that heavy creamy in your face blues like distortion. I've made a couple that sound really good. I would have thought I could use the screamer without an amp model to drive my Peavey Classic 30. Doesn't really work like that though. But little by little I'm getting it there. Thanks again!
  20. This is my first real complaint with the Amplifi Fx100. I cannot seem to get an overdiriven or distorted tone to my liking. To me they just dont seem believable. I am playing through a Peavey Classic 30 and my analog Distortion and Overdrive sound fantastic but the tones Im getting from the Fx100 seem buzzy and thin. I will keep playing with the settings but any help would be greatly appreciated. Im sure Im just doing something backwards and am not getting my gain and volume settings right. Anybody else have this problem?
  21. What are you using to connect? Older pads or phone may have flaky bluetooths. Try removing the connection from your device and let it search and find it again, then repair. Assuming you haven't already. The other thing to watch is to make sure your device does not already have too many connections that may interfere. Thirdly, borrow someone else's phone or tablet and pair with one of those just to see if you can maintain a connection. If you still are having probems then you may just have a bad unit. If you can keep a connection with another device then its the fault of your device and not an Amplifi issue. Let us know how it goes. I have only had the bluetooth on mine fail one time and a quick repairing fixed it. Good luck!
  22. Most software does not even allow duplicate names so it is definetly a software issue. But I also know it would not be a hard fix. Im not sure why they haven't changed it already.
  23. That is exactly what I did. Made a basic amp/cab model without any effects and populated all of the presets on that bank. Then change each preset to suit what I needed. For example I modeled a Fender Twin Reverb as close as I could then use the presets to establish "clean", "lead", "filtered", etc. Makes it cool way to select your bank depending on the amp you want to play through.
  24. Anytime you touch an effects parameter anywhere in the unused section of the slide bar it allows you to select that parameter of that effect model for the FX knob on your pedal. Lets say the you have chosen to use the Chorus in this particular preset and you want to use the FX knob on the pedal to control the speed. (You could also use it to control the level or the mix) Then you go to that effect. Look at the speed. And lets say the slider is set dead center. Then still on the slider but to the right of where its setting is you will touch it. Then a box comes up asking if you want to assign it to the pedal and you say yes. A little grey knob shows up on the left side of the parameter. Now the fx knob on the pedal controls the speed. Once you save the preset, it is saved too. But you can change it anytime by doing the exact same thing on another effects parameters. Hope that wasn't too long winded. A video would show it much quicker.
  25. Alascar11, I am a new owner of the FX100. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. My only glitch so far was a total bluetooth meltdown. But it took only a couple of mnutes of upairing and refinding the bluetooth again and I was up and running. It became apparent to me real quick that there were several truthes I was going to have to live with. If I can't memorize what tones are where then the tone list would have to be open leaving me unable to edit on the fly. If I wanted to edit on the fly everything had to be operating properly and I had to have a good idea where the tones were. The best situation is to have your pedal set up the way you want it then leave the app off and just use the pedal. That means using cheat sheets. I am getting old so I have to use them anyway. Name of song, key of song, first line of song and where the preset is for that song. Funny thing is I only used 6 pedals most of the time. So that really means I only need 6 presets most of the time. The cool thing has been, I set my banks up according to the amp I am emulating then use the presets for clean, lead, distortion, chorus,... blah, blah, whatever.I plan on using my live the minute I tweak the locations of the presets and get good at stepping on the right button at the right time. So I wish you good luck. But I am going to stick with this for now until I can upgrade to the Firehawk Fx.
