  1. Let me start off by saying I use very loud studio monitors. Event BAS 20/20. I am running them basically turned as far negative with their on board gain as I can, maybe just a nudge above that. The Helix is set to XLR - (which is what they are connected with) LINE lvl to these studio monitors. The Helix is my audio interface. The Helix master volume usually sits between a 9, and 10 o' clock position. Would it be more beneficial for me to use Mic Level out, and be able to turn up the master volume on the Helix more? I ask this because I read somewhere that the Helix works best with its Master Volume set higher, or am I just misinformed there?
  2. Fantastic, great! Works like a charm I appreciate it guys. This was one of the reasons why I chose Helix. :) However a tree limb took down our internet. So I cant actually clicked on the thanks, or green button as the phone wont let me for some reason, and I'm typing this on my phone right now but... I appreciate it I really do.
  3. Oh great thanks for this. :) And you are most certainly welcome. Automations are one of the more under utilized features when using DAWs imo. I know how to send it from FL Studio, but was running into issues on the Helix itself. I will try this once I get home from work tonight and report the findings.
  4. I have the rack, and controller, and I am still putting it through the courses. I haven't played any guitar through it yet, I am still getting it integrated with my studio. Its looking good so far. But I seem to be running into a brick wall on something. I am wanting to control (automate) from within my DAW (FL Studio) on my pc, some parameters insind the Helix. Specifically I am wanting to control things like Wah position, and amp gain with automation clips from on my PC. I am not able to find which midi CC this would be on in the manual. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
  5. Yeah AKG makes great headphones. I would recommend the same set for the price. They have some of the best premium headphones as well.
  6. Thats good to hear. I am just so excited, so much has happened lately, or will soon. Just ordered my Helix. Gojira new album launching soon, I am going to see Devin Townsend LIVE in September, E3 is has some game announcements that I am really looking forward to. Its gonna be hard to keep up while spending the time to actually write the music lol. ;)
  7. Bumping the thread as of today I have pulled the trigger on a full Helix Rack, floor controller, mission expression, and cables. It should be shipping in about a week. I chose to delay the shipping so that it all ships in one shipment, instead of 2, or 3. Otherwise I would get it by this weekend. I am super excited. The amp I think I am most excited to play with most is the Matchstick, or Matchless, using my Tagliare. But I am also really excited about what kind of heavy tones I can coax out of this baby. Are all you guys still enjoying your Helix as I think you are? :P
  8. On cables mogami is good, so is ProCo. If this is for balanced cables its not as crucial to get quality cables. Instrument cables, for guitar as example, it matters much more because they use unbalanced cables for the most part. As far as speakers go, dont forget you can also get sub to compliment smaller speakers. If its just for guitar, doesnt matter as much on the sub,if its guitar and other things then it will start to matter more, and more.
  9. Nice, I order mine in less than 2 weeks.
  10. Its definitely one of the amps I would like to see in the Helix at some point.
  11. Yea the pick itself matters. I use a 1.50mm-ish BlackHole from V-picks.
  12. Honestly on number of amp models... I think the Helix needs more than it has, but honestly not much more. A final count of 60-70ish amps including Bogner XTC, Mesa Mk4 or 5, another Engl amp. I would be completely content... given ample time of course. That, and HX reverbs. These are my main wants out of it. Anything else would be a bonus. Nothing wrong with having 200 amp models, but I have come to find I will use prolly around 10-20 different ones for the most part. (and I am a studio musician doing all sorts of styles of music) That doesn't matter if it is from a total of 60 amps, or 200 amps. I hope, feel, and think the Helix will be supported by Line 6 for some time to come, I mean they can barely keep the thing in stock in a lot of places. If the USB routing wasn't crucial I might be more inclined to check out the AX8. But Nothing can do what Helix can with that routing in its class, and UI/UX.
  13. I remember reading in the 11rack manual that you are suppose to connect the Mic first, then turn on phantom power. And turn off phantom power before you disconnect the mic. This could be how some of your problems happened. However, I see most of the affected users have Rode mics. I hope the Helix doesnt have a problem with these mics as I use a Rode nt1. I hope Line 6 can look into this to verify.
  14. I never owned a Pod HD, last I owned was Pod X3, then went to Eleven Rack after that. But this would be a nice implementation to have on the Helix.
  15. I can think of a good reason for this. I will set up some presets by guitar. I have 4 guitars various electronics. Some active, some passive. Doing it by preset allows me not to have to change it each time I change guitar, just go to the preset which I would have to anyway. This being said I think a global override would be beneficial when auditioning different guitars on different presets. But the ability to bypass it to what the selection on the preset is would be... is a necessity if they did this.
  16. Agreed, however since the Helix is also marketd as a central nervous system for your studio. Having a couple of reverbs that arent just for guitar could be useful. Such as a handful decent vocal, and bass guitar reverbs. I agree prioritize, and dont oversaturate. However, vocals and bass guitar are still something the helix is suppose to incorporate anyway. Honestly a lot of the guitar focused ones will work fine for those applications for the most part anyway. But, one or two focused on those wouldn't hurt.
  17. At this point a support ticket is the best option. I hope it gets resolved for you.
  18. You're Welcome. I figured the HX reverbs on Ideascale would benefit a lot of Helix users.

    XLR Hiss

Not to hijack the thread but does the Hiss happen if the only phantom power that is on... is the one that is powering the mic input on the Helix itself, and recording with a mic? Or is it if there is any other Phantom power device in the chain other than the Helix? Although come to think of it, that won't be much of a problem as when recording with the Mic, we will be using headphones anyways.
  20. Hmm, I will have to keep in mind the IR + HX cabs route once I get my Helix in, and see how it works for me.
  21. Yep thats it.I wonder how a guitar that combines this with the compensated nut would fair...
  22. Oh I couldn't agree more! :) Even for things that can't be explained presently doesn't mean that it will always be that way.
  23. :) I take that as a compliment. However, I was sincere. http://www.geek.com/news/water-droplets-suspended-in-mid-air-with-sound-1531435/
  24. I remember Mattias IA Eklundh using something like that. May not be the same thing, but it kinda makes the frets look like they are shaped like a lighting bolt, or wave. I have only ever seen a few over the internet.
  25. When it comes to sound design, which shaping a guitar tone is... Especially working in the digital realm. The ends justify the means. Meaning that if you have a good sound as a result then the route you took to make it worked. Trying to stay steadfast to arguably arbitrary rules limits one of the great things the digital realm has given us access to. I say if you have and idea/goal (as long as it is somewhat reasonable) then go for it... That is the only way progress has happened. This isn't far fetched at all. Your ears aren't the only part of your body that senses "broadcasts." For instance the hair on your body feeling a certain frequency of resonance. Your brain also can receive broadcasts. (and I don't mean pick up TV channels lol) Your brain even sends waking impulses throughout when the body is exposed to blue light. Sound itself, and the vibration in which causes it can be more powerful than people realize. For instance you can suspend a liquid like water in mid air using sound.
