  1. Pretty much. Personally, mixed with whats already currently available on the Helix, I would be completely content in this department with the Helix if it just adds these 3. 1. Vocoder (that can be controlled by MIDI as well) 2. Doubler. 3. Harmonizer much like Soundog was describing in an earlier post. I don't expect these in the next update either lol. However just one, or possibly two, of them before years end would be quite a treat, and shouldn't eat in too much to other developments. But thats just my wish. I still want other guitar (and bass) goodies to be added, and improved upon just like all you guys as well. ;)
  2. I have to agree with you here again soundog. We are not asking for much, just a good vocoder and a handful of other effects. If the guitar focused stuff gets delayed I doubt it would be for much at all. They released a firmware with 3 Matchless amps and 9 new effects models. I mean come on... :P Why even have a mic input if you don't have any effects focused on that? It even is supposed to have good mic PreAmps. In the studio this would do great for some decent to high quality vocal focused effects. Just a handful. It would be a wonderful wet monitor for recording dry, (just like guitar) and having it all in one unit means less ADA conversion OR points in the signal chain that invite interference/noise in the signal.
  3. This, I am a studio musician will also be using the voice recording (and ReFX) capabilities of the Helix Rack. This is why I am so adamant about a high quality Vocoder eventually coming to the Helix.
  4. Its a symptom of people who have worshiped competition unconditionally. A plethora of "cultures" do it. I'm sure you've heard the rhetoric, even in the same sentences that scoff at collaboration.
  5. I completely agree. Modeling at one time did suck. Now is NOT that time. Modeling has come a long way, so far a long way in fact that many of the people who claim it sucks wouldn't be able to tell what is modeled and what isn't with a blind test. A lot of them echo a romanced sentiment.
  6. Agreed. I will be using mine for studio work. ReAmping L+R heavy guitars at the same time while listening to the mix. It will be my audio interface, and I want an interface I can use that is intuitive (without needing to take up more screen real estate with an editor). For these needs Helix is the ONLY unit on the market that allows all this in a single unit. So it is the one I will go with. If I was not a studio musician, and I was only touring/playing live... Then I might be more inclined to go with the Axe FX due to the sheer number and quality of FX. But then there are still 2 problems there. (I don't do floor processors anymore so I would have to go with Axe FX II XL, at easily $1000 more than the Helix) And I would still be drawn to the interface of the Helix. (one thing I don't like about physical digital processors is their interface, and Line 6 seems to have seriously addressed this with Helix) I think the line that separates them tonally will become more and more blurred over time. Given updates, and people learning how to dial in the newer units. All this being said I have nothing against Axe FX or those who choose it. I was actually planning on going the Axe FX + audio interface before the Helix was announced.
  7. You know I might get my head chopped off for this, but let Spikey eat cake. lol
  8. I just wanted to say that Macs were the go to for music rigs even up to a few years ago. However, its actually PC that are becoming more and more common these days for music production. That being said I think Line 6 said something about Mac releasing El Capitan, (or updating it) while Line 6 was getting ready to ship out their first units. So there wasn't a good overlap of support there. I am not exactly sure what the problem between that OS, and Line 6 Helix is, but hopefully it will get fixed for you guys that are using Macs.
  9. LOL neural interface. That was good. But in all seriousness with VR, AR, and other technologies, its coming at some point barring any ELEs. ;) I hope to feel the same way about my Helix Rack. I was gonna go Axe FX II xl, and one of the reasons I chose to go Helix (out of many I won't get into) is the front UI itself. I hear/read the Axe FX UI can be a pain in the lollipop. And I read/hear that the Helix UI is not only intuitive, and easy to navigate. Its down right exceptional at it.
  10. I have seen a few topics on this, and most have usually turned out to have phantom power somewhere along the signal chain. Either at the Helix, Mixing Board, PA-Interface, other audio interfaces etc. If I were having this problem, this would be the first thing I would try, and track down.
  11. "Pro." DI already touched on this, but people have varying definitions of what the word means. I have a few actually. One I may already meet the requirement for, the other I may not have met it yet. What I do find irritating is how some are defining the "success" of others on here without knowing a single thing about them. While being simultaneously wrapped up in their own limited definition of what success is. ...and it be glossed over as normal speak. As far as what I think the most "pro thing about the Helix is" is its Audio Interface routing capabilities as a high quality digital modeler. It is an 8x8 (over USB) audio interface, that can ReAmp/ReFX multiple sounds while listening to the mix while having high quality amps/fxs etc. All in a single unit. No additional A/D/A conversion, no clock timing/sync issues between multiple digital equipment. As far as I know there is no other high quality guitar modeler (or KPA) that can do that all in a single unit. I was going to go Audio Interface (to accommodate) and Axe FX II xl. Then the Helix came, after listening to clips, seeing the routing capabilities, and it would cost only half as much as going the route I was thinking about going, and its all in a single box. I immediately suspended my thoughts on the Axe FX + audio interface, and decided I will give Helix Rack a shot. That and I want an intuitive interface on the unit that would really help save on screen space for my DAW. I am their target audience for the Helix as well. It checks off so many boxes on my list that I had for multiple pieces of gear that I can't help but be excited about it. Plus Line 6 states that cool things are coming for it. So I am stoked to be ordering mine in a month.
  12. He said in the OP that it happens with multiple guitars. So that would more than likely rule that out.
  13. It is what I think, and hope as well. I mean there are also still so many holding out for the rack version, myself included. Add that to the already higher than projected sales of the floor processor...
  14. Spill over doesn't matter to me one bit, as I am a studio musician. But thats just me... That being said, I can definitely see how this would be a problem for LIVE situations. I hope Line 6 comes up with a fix, or at least a usable work around for all you LIVE musicians. I would assume there are probably more who play with this LIVE than use it for studio work.
  15. I completely agree. I have already posted one on the idea scale. A few months ago. Maybe not the Boss one in particular, but a high quality vocoder period would be welcomed. The Helix doesn't even have one yet. It is that reason why I think it should be at the top of their list. Most other recommendations/requests involve just adding flavors to options already available. Such as new amps, more distortions, more phasers, more reverbs etc. I feel that a vocoder would truly add something to the Helix that it really doesn't have yet.
  16. @ DI, sorry I need to clarify, I wasn't saying that 7 in 3 months was low. That is actually more than I was expecting before launch. (I expected around 8 or so a year, after launch, but the more the better) I was saying that the 3 or 4 a year that was put forth by PeterHamm is a low estimate. I just may have not quoted that properly. So no need to quit. ;)
  17. Yeah, that does seem like a rather low number, I am expecting about 2 a season. Give or take around 8 a year. Not counting the initial release of course. Maybe more if that is the only way you guys plan to introduce new models of FX/Amps/Cabs to the Helix.
  18. I would like to see a vocoder. The helix doesn't even have one yet. This is marketed as the "central nervous system for your studio, or live rig." So a vocoder, for use in the studio as a wet monitor, without having to go through a DAW pluging (latency) or external hardware (counter to the all in one box of The Helix) it seems like it should be in there, especially since the Helix has some very nice Mic Pre-amps. As well as more high gain amps like Mesa, and Engl. and a Bogner XTC as well. More effects as well. I plan on using it for all sorts of processing in the studio.
  19. Yeah I like it too. It seems like it will be a great amp for lead guitar work, using my Dean Zelinksy Tagliare with single coil pickups. (its my guitar that fills any need for a stratocaster) Seems like it has just the right amount of bite for that. I am really looking forward to my Helix Rack.
  20. Actually I do plan on getting the controller at some point. Just not for guitar use. As I would have the rack angled up to me. I have it more in mind for the controller to be by the mic stand, So I can access the Helix from the mic stand without having to go back and forth while recording takes on the mic. But I don't even plan on getting the Rack until April/May. (which I don't even consider that soon) I will probably get the controller towards the holidays of next year. I appreciate the advice though!
  21. I am going for the rack. I am a studio composer/musician/mixing engineer. I don't do any LIVE shows, nor do I intend to. I am choosing the rack because: 1. I have a setup to where I can have it angled up at me for easy access while I am right there at my PC, even with guitar in hand. It would actually be less convenient with the pedal version. 2. I have made a decision years ago I will not have my processor on the floor anymore. Mainly for safety reasons. USB disconnect in the middle of recording session often blue screens, or will lock up the program, and you lose what hasn't been saved. 3. I prefer the look of the rack. Very sleek looking 4. The rack is cheaper - I don't intend to get the floor board controller any time soon.
  22. I plan on getting the Helix Rack, and I'm shooting for April/May as my goal of ordering. Hopefully they will have all the launch issues ironed out by then, and they will have the demands met better than with the Helix Floorboard Processor. I am pleased that the price is now $1,399. I figured since the Rack version didn't have an expression pedal, and all those extra switches & LED scribble strips, that it should cost a bit less than the Floorboard model. I figure $1,299 - $1,349 should reflect that, but $1,399 is close enough, I guess. Especially if the controller is $399 now. Sucks that these retailers won't honor the new price drop on already placed orders. I would just cancel, and re-order. That being said I have found that Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, zZsounds, American Music Supply, and Full Compass all reflect the new price.
  23. I have a feeling one is going to be reverse delay, or perhaps reverb (but prolly delay) And I hope the other is a good vocoder... As the Helix has 0 at the moment. Then we can work on things like another phaser, and extra amps and such. Lets add in bases that aren't covered rather than more flavors of those that are already covered.
  24. Congrats on those that have improved their life by letting go of cigarettes, and to those that are taking the journey in doing so. I don't smoke cigarettes, but most of the people I have ever known do, (family, friends, etc) I see how hard it is to quit. But it is possible. I also know first hand how miserable it can be waiting on people for their (quite often)smoke breaks, the smell, the health dangers of it, and as a child having to deal with it because both parents smoked those nasty things. It can be very bad not just for the people smoking them. I mean we all got decent at playing guitar did we not, well then we have the potential to do far more, so quitting is well within your grasps. My GF has stopped smoking cigarettes about 3 weeks ago, and has been good about it. It is hard for her, I can tell. But she will stay strong, as I will stay on her hardcore!

    Reamping

I voted for it. You might want to mention it in the Idealscale Community Thread here at the top of the Forum list as well.
