I am a new Helix / Gemini 1 user and am having problems getting any type of good sound out of mine. Do you use the cab sims or IRs when using the Gemini in FRFR mode? Maybe that's what I am missing. Thanks

Struggling with my new Helix and Mission Engineering Gemini 1. Not sure if I should use the Gemini in full FRFR mode and then use IRs or cabs? No IRs no cabs? I just don't get it. Helix sounds great through my QSC K10.2 speakers. Plug into the Gemini 1 set as FRFR and it's awful. Like the post above, I am ready to toss this thing out the window.

Just purchased a Gemini 1 for use with my Helix. I'm having a really hard time getting it to sound good. What do you guys set the Gemini to and on the Helix, do you use cabs, no cabs, IRs? I can't get a good sound out of this thing to save my life.

I cleaned mine off with a slightly damp micro-fiber cloth. Made it look brand new.

I just went with a Mission Engineering Gemini 1. Crossing my fingers.

Anyone just forget the Helix distortion pedals and use amp gain only? I think you can map a foot switch to raise the gain but then the volume will also go up.

I can't get a good OD sound out of my Helix running FRFR. Same setup straight into a clean tube amp (with amp and cabs on Helix turned off) and it sounds great. Through FRFR and headphones with amp and cab back on, it's harsh and fizzy (low cut at 120 and high cut at 4).

OK I have the full Helix going into two QSC K10.2 speakers using one balanced out for each speaker. I have the speaker EQs off and have my Helix global EQ off per some notes I have seen. I'm using low and high cuts in my patch instead (in the cab settings I think). It's getting close and sounds great clean but as soon as I add any OD, it sounds really bad.

New user here. Man I am loving the Timmy and TS808. A little fizzy through my PA speakers but I'm working on that. Hey anyone know how to assign a foot switch to be an OD gain boost?

I'm still trying to dial out the harshness. Sounds great until I add ANY overdrive in front of ANY amp. Frustrating!

I'm getting good sound out of the QSC K10.2 pair now but volume is an issue. I have everything halfway up and they are no louder than a 25-watt tube amp. Can't use them live at this point. I wonder what I am missing!

Sweet, I am interested in buying one too. QSC K10.2 is good with the Helix by the Gemini 1 will be better.

You found a Mission Engineering Gemini 1 for $500?

Added a couple of Celestion open back IRs to the Helix. They all fixed the problem. Sounds great through everything now!

I just purchased a Helix and two QSC K10.2 speakers. Having an awful time getting a good sound out of this setup. Sounds fake and brittle, flat, etc... Was hoping this setup would replace my acoustic, electric and bass rigs. So far I am frustrated and ready to give up.

I tried the JBL Eon 610s with my Helix. Sounded "OK" but they did not work at all when I used my bass with them. Farted out, just couldn't handle even the low E.

OK so if I'm using the effects return of a tube combo amp, NO cab right? But going into a PA speaker, use the cab? Thanks!

Got it, thanks! I am just getting the basics down. Now my job is to figure out how to get that "Amp in the room" sound from my Helix LT and two JBL Eon 610 speakers. Right now it sounds awful.

OK so how do you link the two chains together? I need to add a couple more effects to my setup (not always on) and can't figure out how to link the two chains. THANKS!

I'm getting the best sound by using the Helix's amps into the effects return of my tube amp. If I can figure out how to get that same sound with a powered PA speaker or Mission Engineering Gemini 1, I'd be thrilled. Seems so complicated though.

Reviving an old thread (sorry) I love that "amp in the room" sound and am happiest when going directly into my tube combo's "effects return" jack from the Helix. To me, nothing else sounds as good. Would still love to go full FRFR if I could figure out how to get that same sound, though.

Thanks for all the info. Not sure I'd like the FRFR setup. Might go with a Mission Gemini 1 or something though. You can open up the back of the cabinet if desired. The Alto and Yamaha mentioned above aren't FRFR though. Not even close right? Just powered PA speakers. Would love to find a true FRFR powered speaker!
