  1. Glad to hear this is working. I just happen to have one of those pedals waiting to be picked up at the post office.
  2. I don't have any analog preamps but I've run my DT25 with HD500X and Helix preamp models. It sounds amazing. As for sounding like a tube power amp, it does because it is. The DT25 has a digital preamp section and a real tube poweramp section. The icing on the cake is the ability to configure the power amp section (change from class AB to class A, change topologies, etc...).
  3. That's an easy trick for Helix to pull off since it has 4 effects loops and lots of other inputs and outputs. I've done that myself with a DT25, Randall RH100 and a Peavey Bravo 112. You could run your amp that has the effects loop in 4 cable method. That way you can take advantage of the entire amp or bypass the preamp at the press of a footswitch and use one of the Helix preamp models. For the other 2 amps you just need to use Helix fx sends straight into the front of each amp. Make sure you set the Helix fx sends to 'instrument' in the Global Settings.
  4. I run several different configurations (Alto TS110A, DT25, Fryette Power Station 2, Carol-Ann Triptik). I think the Altos sound amazing and the pair cost considerably less than any of my other options.
  5. I've done close to what you're looking to achieve. Your sends and returns are a bit confusing. Maybe posting a screen capture of your patch would help. Normal 4-cable method is: Guitar -> Guitar In Helix Send 1 -> front of amp 1/4" Helix Out -> amp FX Return Amp FX Send -> Helix Return 1 I've used this succesfully; although I had everything set to instrument level. Then I ran the direct out of my DT25 into the Helix microphone input on a separate path, put it through an IR and out the XLR. I'm expecting a Power Station 2 and hopefully it will get here before the weekend. I'd be happy to give your patch a try if you're willing to post it.
  6. I'll have to give this a shot. I got quite a bit of noise running 4-cable method with my Carol-Ann Triptik. I narrowed the problem down to something between the Helix 1/4" out and the Carol-Ann fx return. Changing cables didn't help. Swapped the Helix 1/4" out for fx send 3 and the noise disappeared.
  7. Glenn DeLaune, Fremen, Chris Beaver. They're all terrific, and different from each other.
  8. How are you coming out of the Rockcrusher? Is the signal line level or instrument level? Can the Rockcrusher go straight into your computer?
  9. I really like it but I'm not considering buying one. I don't see that it would add much value over my JTV-69. I'm not surprised at the price. I figured it would cost a bit more than the current offerings but not enough to blow everyone out. I don't know what percentage of guitar players are into baritones but I would imagine it's not a huge market. I'm very happy that it's breathing some new life into Variax technology though. I'm doubtful but I hope that it's a huge success that leads to more future models.
  10. I believe I saw a 'not at launch' comment regarding the standalone version which usually means "we're planning on it". Not sure about DSP usage information.
  11. I don't own a Torpedo Live but I'm pretty sure you set your Helix and amp up in the normal 4-cable configuration. The amp's speaker output should go to the Torpedo Live.
  12. I'm assuming that nothing has changed. They can't speculate on possible future offerings because, if they don't deliver, there could be legal repercussions. This update isn't vaporware; it already exists and they're probably just continuing the debugging process to polish it up prior to delivery.
  13. I think it's sweet. I'm curious as to how much it will cost.
  14. Have you taken a look at the Line 6 DT Series MIDI Implementation Guide? You can call up all kinds of stuff in these amps via MIDI (30 amps, 17 cabs, the 4 topologies, the EQ settings, Class, 8 mics, channel A or B, 12 different reverbs and more). That's all DT Edit is doing is sending MIDI commands.
  15. The amp has that ability if you want. I can go in via MIDI using a free program, called DT Edit, and select all of the options below. This is great for standalone use.
  16. Currently, the best way I've found to keep the presets and IRs aligned is to put all the presets into one of the 8 setlists, put the corresponding IR's where they belong and then go through and rename the IRs so that they start with a number (001, 002, etc...). Then back up the setlist and the next time you do an update, re-import it and just drag the numbered IR's back to where they belong. This might all change next Thursday as Digital Igloo made a couple vague of remarks about an upcoming announcement. Also, it's easy to tell where the preset creator had the IRs located by just looking at the preset.
  17. Have you installed the latest firmware. I believe this is one of the issues that it addressed.
  18. It's based on a hot rodded Marshall JCM 800. Ben, the creator, mentioned that he designed it so that the Pre Mid controls are controlling an active EQ circuit between the 2nd and 3rd gain stages to simulate driving the front end of an already distorted amp with a frowny face, mid-boost EQ.
  19. It should work fine as long as your mic doesn't require Helix to provide power to it. You could go into the aux input but, if your mic is stereo, I'd recommend getting a cable that splits the left and right channels to separate mono 1/4" ends and going into one of the fx returns. I'd run the mic on one Helix path and the guitar signal on the other. That way you'll have no problems recording the separate tracks in Audition.
  20. By global EQ do you mean the one built into the Helix or the front panel of the amp? I know for sure (just double checked a minute ago) that I can still switch topologies on the front panel of the amp when using L6 Link. I prefer going straight into the fx return or using the 4 cable method. If I use L6 Link the tone controls on the DT25 still work and affect the end result.
  21. It's pretty much the 'amp in the room' sound vs the 'mic'd amp through a PA' sound. Both sound incredible but the amp pushes some serious air. The PA is more convenient though when using 3rd party or CustomTone patches as most of them were created using an FRFR solution. One thing I love doing is using both at the same time as a wet/dry/wet setup; basic guitar signal going to the DT25 and effects going to the PA speakers. I prefer using just the full amp (no cab) into the DT25. All 3 methods work but that's what sounds best to me.
  22. Or the 'effects only' version, the HFX8. :D
  23. Although I use Alto TS110A PA Speakers most of the time, I sometimes use my DT25. I used DT Edit (a free, easy to use, program) to turn off the amp and cab modeling in the DT. The amp will retain these settings until I go back in and change them. I set up Voicing I to use Topology I, Voicing II to use Topology II and so on. Then with a MIDI cable connecting Helix to the DT I can easily switch voicings per preset. I think of the different topologies as being separate amps. I thinks some musicians will find that one topology would work for just about everything they do. If that's the case they wouldn't even need to bother with MIDI once they have the amps set up. Helix with the DT25 sounds amazing BTW.
  24. They look pretty cool. Sweetwater has a demo video on their site.
