  1. Yea Rabea's demo sold a crap load of GM-40's I'm thinking. Dude can play, but the head sounds sweet too. With Helix it should be awesome sauce....
  2. Is that hookup something like this perhaps? (Thanks to one of the guys on the H&K forums)
  3. I've been talking on the Hughes & Kettner Unofficial forum with GM40 users, and just wondered how many here are using this Head and Helix together?
  4. Should be in a folder called Line 6 in "Program files" or some such. On a Mac here so can't be specific.
  5. Well as always YMMV and that's ok. I just did it for a few decades and enjoy the "just me" in the band now. And I'm now never late to a gig and can always say turn it down without making anyone butthurt. ;)
  6. It's that Eskimo accent he uses... ;)
  7. I can play for hours at a time using just a pair of 8" Mackie 824's hooked to the main outs of Helix. Moving air? Pfffft that's overrated... TONE is where it's at my Brothers and Sisters...

    2.20 Party

So the guy that could tell us something about the release date is out emptying the trash, making dinner, cleaning the studio, writing checks and paying bills and coding his arsh off in between sleeping... Maybe if/when Yamaha gives out a raises he can then hire a Chinese guy to do the laundry which would then give him time to email us on the update status here... Whada ya think good idea huh!?! :P ;)

    2.20 Party

It will be out Tomorrow... or not....
  11. Very nice job on the case!
  12. You don't have to move air for Helix to sound good, you just need some fairly good quality powered monitors to listen thru and you are set.
  13. Yes like cars, there are cars and then there are hotrods. Both are cars... One just goes faster ;)
  14. Done Upvoted "Wall of Sound" add on!
  15. Quote What? Huh? Yes, I'm sure it was tuff, but you guys did it. I dunno what DI meant here, but that's what sold thousands of DT AND HD units as a pair. Called "the Dream Rig" and Line 6 even coined the phrase! I don't know where he got the idea no one was using it... Maybe I misunderstood?... Quote Like alt tunings on the Variax? ;) Ok, I'll bite. Why shouldn't it? DI there are thousands of DT amp owners out here atm just waiting for this upgrade to be done, and many thousand more sales to be made for the DT series amps AND Helix after it happens! The "new" Dream Rig... That's a WIN WIN for Line 6. Not to mention that fact that altho it's a different animal as you keep pointing out, you guys did do it once already. The hardware is already there and the ports even named the same. Just do it and you can thank me later for be a blunt asswipe that won't take no for an answer. B) Ahhh..., I may have figured it out. Is there is something big fixing to be announced in the next few months? Hummmmm....

Aint it the truth! Add into that mix > here in the panhandle we play two kinds of music. Country AND Western! :P
  17. Get a pair of FRFR or Studio powered monitors. Helix (or any other guitar processor) only sounds as good as what you plug it into.
  18. Wall of Sound plugin does this. Be nice if Line 6 would do something similar I think...
  19. Y That's where I thought it went too...

    Helix DT 25

Could you please link that "elegant" solution promise made? I seem to have misplaced it. Thanks.
  21. Try one of these... Hum Destroyer

    Helix DT 25

What you are missing is, before Helix and during the "Dream-Rig" era using an HD-500x series modeler with L6-Link between the HD and the DT amp, when changing from say a Fender to a Vox amp, the "control" settings for L6-Link used midi to switch many things in the DT-amplifier, like Class AB to Class A, tetrode to triode, Fender Cab to Vox Cab, etc etc. So this was why its there in the first place, and it's also why when Helix was released I was upset when I found out that Line 6 used the same "Trademarked" name for Line-6 Link on both units ports, while having very very different outcomes as far as midi power and functionality. I (and many others) can only hope this gets fixed at some point, but the prolonged silence in doing so is deafening.

The reason I enjoy FRFR speaker systems is because when I playback the guitar track on my HR824 studio monitors (also very flat), I don't usually have to re-EQ the guitar track. Its tones match the FRFR tones on my guitar system. Another way to say this is that the tones I'm getting with FRFR pretty closely match what my studio tracks sound like, which the very purpose of having it that way. Moving on to the PA FoH setup- Now, if the PA (FoH) sounds close (guitar wise) to the FRFR guitar stage monitor tones then IMHO the EQ (which should be flat as well) is set correctly for that channel. If it doesn't sound close you need to have a talk with the sound guy, cause it ain't (again, IMO) the FRFR guitar monitors fault. Thats the beauty of FRFR systems, and the FoH should be (within reason depending on the room of course) close to that (flatness EQ wise) as well. As always, YMMV. :)

    Helix DT 25

DT Edit is a free program you download to get into the midi functions of the amp, to switch on or off stuff, change topologies, class A to AB, etc etc. All that's done thru midi CC commands.
  25. At line levels, I don't think you're going to hurt anything. But listen for clipping and adjust accordingly. Oh and make sure what the Bassbreaker send and return signal levels are supposed to be (Inst or Line), and then set Helix send and return accordingly.
