I would rather Native matched with my Helix rack unit in "every way" possible 1st and foremost, versus adding any VST or AU support that would make that matchup between the Helix and Helix Native software suffer.

I have had alternative tunings on a version 1 Variax, released wayyyy before the JTV was even announced DI, so no, he was just wrong (or couldnt tell us the truth because of NDA's or trade secrets) when he stated that the Variax would never have alt tunings, period. I have both models of Variax BTW, so I ballpark know the timeframes involved too. Almost a decade apart it seems like now. It's also normal for companies and their sales staff to deny the worth or usefulness of an attribute they don't currently have in their product, that another company in the same business does... Gotta keep up the competition no matter what. All this happened way before the JTV was ever on the drawing board. I remember what I remember he said, here, and if you think I'm making this all up that's ok too. I'm not and I don't work for Roland either. :)

LOL send me your settings!!!!
-
Yes I realize that, but he did say that, here. We argued with him about this, and the abilities of digital not being able to do this especially since Roland was already doing it. And he was a representative for Line 6. Water under the bridge now of course, but the point is once again, never say never about anything cause as soon as you do...
-
I've used Helix to change multiple settings at once on the DT-50 series amp head, so yes it can send multiple midi cc messages and their value at a time.
-
You should be able to use Native as an audio (guitar) source to record with inside your DAW, much like you are able to use Helix now. I mean if you can't do that much what's the point? That doesn't make it a plugin, but I'm not sure now what it makes it either lol...

IIRC give or take a year or 2, after the 1st variax was released. Maybe sooner. I remember at the time the Roland VG-99 was a hot item, and we wondered why if it could do alt tunings why couldn't the Variax do this too. That's when we were told here, the Variax would never do this. Iirc, the guys nic that told us this was Hugo, or something like that...
-
Never say never. I remember (many years ago) when I was told Variax would never have alternate tunings, here, on this forum, from someone that worked for Line 6... Maybe he was on crack eh? ;)

Could be the difference in the cabs (and ears) . I also think I know why I like this amp now. It has just enough growl to it (without a stomp) when playing the signature lead to "Hotel California" it's just sounds right.
-
Just tried it. I think I like it even better! It's just a tad bit (tiny) less bass is all i'm noticing (as expected). Playing at just louder than bedroom at night levels. Cranked there might be a lot different with the cab off.
-
Yep pinoy1, you are correct that in most situations the added cab "should" muddy up the tone on the Celestion V-30's. For some unexplained reason unknown to me, It just sounds killer. Could be it's just my rebuilt cabinet, I just dunno. The Fryette PS-2 is a multi-trick pony because it can be used as an attenuator too, altho Im not using that part of it atm. I have not tried it (Litigator patch) yet as "amp" only, and will soon.

That's coming next year... ;)

LOL!

Don't call me shlrley... ;) Yes Mr. Obvious, it is their job to make awesome products, but we as users (YOU and I included) are mostly dumb lollipops, and can not remember what we said or did yesterday, must less figure out why something doesn't work right. Want proof? Just how many times has it been stated HERE to "Reset the Globals" after an update, otherwise Helix won't work properly? Yet how many didn't do that. Hummm? So my statement still stands. Some of us can't read 5 paragraphs, much less a manual. So I think there will be MANY that have issues as to what DI talked about.

This is going to be the BIGGEST complaint we see here after Native gets released. Why can't my AM/FM Walkman speakers sound like HELIX does!!!!????

HAHAHAHA yer killin me.... :P

I was at the same place you are at now with my Axe FX II XL+. It was supposed to the best out there in every way. But, I watched the videos and liked what I heard, so I took the chance that Helix would sound better out of the box and without spending hours upon hours tweaking on it (like I was doing with the Axe). FWIW, I no longer have a Fractal product (I still think It's I think a great product & many swear by it). Im very happy with what I have now (Helix Rack and Controller) function and tone wise. To me, there is a world of difference in functionality. I am no longer tweaking for hours. Hope this helps.

Yea I kinda have the opinion that when I want to freeze food, I want a freezer. Not a freezer that I can drive, watch TV on, go to sleep in, or save files on. ;)

I know others have commented on this amp too. I just sat down with my PRS for over an hour this morning playing with the new Litigator amp & cab patch, powered by my Fryette PS 2 and 2x12 V30's cab. No tweaking, no adjusting tones or adding eq's, no knobdicking at all. Just some wonderful and fun playing time. That's it. I finally set the guitar down on its stand and thought, very rarely do I find such a wonderful organic tubelike rich full tone on anything I've played, period. That amp and cab deserves well earned praise. Grats Line 6. Outta the park!

Ahhh it's ok. As long as DI puts a tuner in the editor im good... :P
-
Lets see. You can use aux 1 to send from Helix @ instrument lvl to the guitar input on Kemper, and then the Main out 1/4" mono left side from Kemper to the Return 2 on Helix, set to line level (because the outs on the KPA is @ line lvl). That should get your Kemper sounds in Helix. Then use the editor to place where you like/decide.

Helix with a VST and AU wrapper? Interesting thought but I agree it's probably not likely... yet.

Once again- THIS ^^^
