I think there are more people who don't use the forum than there are that use it. I think the ones that use the forum are just more social people and they are few and far bewtween. So that just leaves us who regularly read and post here.

Studio Pod UX2 is not detected
Brazzy replied to ToxicaXPoizen's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Have you had any luck in getting it working yet? More information will be helpful to anyone that's going to try and help you. You could call Line 6 or do a support ticket too. Sometimes you need to try all of the usb ports on the computer. You may only have 1 out of 3 usb ports that will actually support the UX2. Give it try, see what gives. -
No signal and mixer doesn't look the way it should
Brazzy replied to matictoni's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
Sorry I may not have been clear enough. I was trying to refer to the "flash memory". The following picture may clear things up. Keep in mind I'm currently using a KB37. The UX2, which I also use, will be similar. -
Personally, I don't think one has to have the same symptoms in order to have the same problem with this amp. I say this 'cause every user may experience, perceive and explain them just a bit different which can add some doubt into the mix. This amp is a one of a kind amp. Very complex inside....there's alot going on inside that coconut, so to speak, lol. You can speed read the thread I created when the issues started for me. "DT 50 Head just went silent any ideas why?"
-
Knowing what I know now I would return it. Unfortunately the next one you get may have similar problems. You may have one of the amps that needs warranty work done. They had to fix mine and it sounds fantastic. Search my posts and read about my DT50 Head. Good Luck. I recommend you call line 6 and do a support ticket.

Have you tried reinstalling the firmware? -
Your welcome, I think I stated it another post somewhere in a thread but sometimes it's difficult to find, lol. You could check out my thread "DT50 Head Just Went Silent Any Ideas Why?"

Replaced the main board, did TBS 059, and replaced the power tubes is what I was told.

Same here the DT50 HD (Sept 2010 build) and DT25 Ext Cab has exceeded my expectations too. When I purchased it, I knew it might have issues since I was reading the archived forum before it was archived. So I was prepared for the worse. I also knew that it was a special amp, adaptive, is the word used to describe this creation. I used it for a while had some wierdness, it worked again, then failed, put new OEM tubes in it, rebiased, then it worked for a short while and then quit all together. It quit completely 13 months after I received it and Line 6 still fixed it up. When they resurrected it, aahhhhhhhh man that things works great. The noise floor is better than it was when new, I know that for sure.

DT50HD Output Suddenly Went Silent, Any Ideas Why? And More...
Brazzy replied to Brazzy's topic in DT50 / DT25
Thanks "E"!! If you have any questions just ask. I'm learning as I go here and I have alot of expereince working on "things" that people use everyday and have also have made improvemnets to them by fabricating what's needed, by drafting, machining, welding, burning, filing, etc, etc. No one person knows it all and we're always learning or should be. This is what makes a forum, wheather it be internet or in person so great. Always ask questions when in doubt and be sure of your move forward to makle it count the first time as much as possible. You should look at this thread as one experience. I figured if I post online I can help myself as well as others. Be careful, learn more and Rock On!- 56 replies

DT50HD Output Suddenly Went Silent, Any Ideas Why? And More...

In case anyone can use this info. Common Parts list: I just recently checked the "parts list" parts numbers on full compass site and the part numbers didn't show when I searched for them on their site. When I order from them I'll send them that list to see what the their customer service comes up with.- 56 replies

Thanks Man! I dug up a little more info, check this out. The Thread Link

You can check out the thread I created on it. They replaced the main board, did TSB 059, and replaced the power tubes. I'm pretty sure I had one of the DT50's that had issues only I didn't realize it utill 13 months later. Being my first tube amp I just wasn't sure. Now I have that experience under my belt I know qute a bit more than I did when I was a grasshopper, lol. It worked really good for a while then little things started to happen which was the problem happening only I thought it was tubes etc. Read the whole thread it's like a journal, lol. I think Line 6 did a great job fixing it for me. It's a shame there isn't anyone around me that was capable of doing it.

Your Welcome, Yes sound is always subjective. I can only testify it is definately quieter than it was when new. Added: forgot to add the link to where I found that info, although I just asked this question on Amazom last week, lol.

Try to get a habit of double checking when it comes to technical things. Sometimes I triple check and taking notes always helps to keep organized so you stay healthy and costly mistakes don't happen. Another key thing to success is to asking questions. The old saying "There's no stupid questions" hold true.

Good eye! "T"!! The OP is talking about the wrong tubes although it's an easy mistake I would hope that error would be worked out when the tubes are actually replaced I use EL34EH and 12AX7EH. If anyone is going to replave the tubes in a tube amp you should really ask questions, read books related, know exactly what your doing and why or you should just have a qualified tech do it.

For that price I would get the combo. You can always get another cab. Unless you really want the Head seperated from the speakers. There's some controversey about the the combos speaker vibrations being transferred to the tubes causing the tubes element to vibrate, thus seperating the speakers would eliminate that wear and tear. Personally I believe that the tubes can be affected by the speaker vibration in a good way but reducing the fife of them. I've no evidence to support that, the only thing I have is experience with many mecahnical things with sensative electronics in them.

I have to say my DT is a very quiet amp with the stock tubes in it. I've not tried anything else yet. That doesn't mean others wouldn't work. You may have other issues if you have noise. Before I had warranty work done on my DT50 Head the noise floor was reasonable on every channel except topo III. When I got it back all the channels are quiet and it sounds great. I'll be sticking with the tubes it comes with.

I would re-flash the firmware.

Hey thanks, I see your point and I know you have the combo and it's different in that it's upside down compared to the head. Since I don't have the kind of experience that many guitarists have I'll take heed in the fan thing. Since this thing didn't come with a fan I'm not going to concern myself with it. I had an Uncle that was a Chief in communications on an aircraft carrier and he had experience with tubed radio equipment. He said to me once that they had many radios which would run and they never shut them down. He also said that the tubes in the radios which were never turned off lasted the longest indicating it was better to just leave them burn. I would imagine they used tubes made in the USA like RCA, Sylvania, GE, Mullard, etc., though I don't know for sure. That gif is priceless radatats!! Now I just installed a Kiddie Fire Extinguisher on the side of my Amp Head!! LOL

I'll check the chassis later but I remember seeing 85 degrees when I aimed toward the metal chassis under the tube area. Nowhere on the chassis was hot to the touch so it must be under body temp 90's. My body temp runs on the hot side so it must be under 96 degrees, lol. I hooked up a 16ohm JCA12S+ and the DT25 cab in, I think it's called "in Parallel" to the 4 ohm output on the DT and it was a good sound but I just don't need to do that 'cause the one speaker is so good.

Sorry I referring to the glass power tubes. The face plate is made of plexiglass, I think that just get a little warm. Usually I run the master at lower than 12 oclock. I must admit, at 12 oclock It sounds great even in small areas at lower preamp volumes with the gain pushed up. When this amp is opened up with that just that one DT25 Cab it's awesome tones just spewing from that cone. Thanks for the tip. I think I'll set a little fan back there to blow the heat out of the tube oven, lol. We all should know excessive heat is the enemy.

I found this here: http://www.analogbros.com/tech/articles/goodgobad.html

I measured the temp of my DT50 Head by just holding a Cat No 22-171 Radio Shack Waterproof Pocket IR Thermometer as close to the screen in three spots. In the middle were the tubes are measured approx. 170 degrees F, to the left and right were around 90 degrees F. I would estimate the glass is around 200 degrees. Remember, this is an estimate and the testing was done indoors in a low humidity room at approx 78 degrees F.

Good One! :) Maybe "normal" should only be used for describing how a machine (robot) should operate, lol. As far as the res setting I fool with it but mostly leave it be.
