  1. I'm not completely familiar about that device, but you may want to think about getting a small mixer like I did. It makes things so much easier to control. Keep in mind the Spider Jam only records a mono track. Just took a real quick look at that Boss BR80 and it looks like your going to want to use that as your primary recording device. Looks like neat little recorder. Every time I turn around there's a new device popping up, lol.
  2. Another thing I've learned is that after I make a recording and save the wav file to the card I can just take the card out without powering the amp off. As long as I don't power off, the recording will remain in memory even if I reinstall the card back into the Spider Jam. This is nice. Example, I make a few riffs I think might be good to use. Each time I make a riff and save it to the card I have to give it a new name by using the selector wheel. This can be a drag, lol. So I make a few riffs name them accordingly starting with "0EW_RECO", "1EC_RECO", etc. I only change the first character 'cause it's quicker for me. When doing this I found out by mistake to not use characters like ": ; . ,", I forget which ones I used but when I went to read the card with my computer the file was corrupt, so I just stick to numbers or letters. Hope this helps a little.
  3. Cool, I had a similar problem with RiffWorks. When I wanted to upload a finished track it wouldn't go, just stopped in it's tracks when I clicked on the RiffCast button. So I did some digging around in the Cable Router software to find out they added or changed the software and I could select a lower level of firewall to get it through. When I'm done I change it back to higher level, lol. There's probably an easier way but I'm good with it.
  4. Try giving them a call. Just in case, are you sure you have the settings for the pedal correct? You should recheck that if you haven't already. Hope you get working.
  5. I've been on that page too and had no luck. Was interested in this as well but quite some time ago.
  6. I like that one too, lol :) and it's a good question.
  7. You should do up a support ticket or just call them to see what they say. Tell them the same thing you entered here.
  8. The problem could be with the firewall in your cable router. Maybe someone who has more definite answers will help. If I think of anything else I'll post it. I did a search and found this archived thread that may help some: http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/75707/
  9. I think your right too. Cause if you have the HD 500 connected via L6 Link everything comes from the HD500. I've tried the Direct Out and was surprised to hear how great it sounds. Amazing Amp IMO. EDIT: Wait I remember using DT Edit and I think I was getting Cab changes with it out the speaker. I can't wait to get my DT50 back to check it out again.
  10. You might need to replace the tubes, but that's a big maybe. Have you tried contacting Line 6?
  11. Yeah Man, the only way to find out what works it to use it. Just keep trying things and you'll know what works and what doesn't.
  12. I like that noise!! Hahaha. If your running a high gain patch you may need to turn the noise gate up considerably and if you want it to sustain turn up the decay accordingly and maybe even turn up the Amp model volume. Keep in mind any compressors down the line may induce that again and another noise gate may be needed. Either that or turn the levels down till it's gone. I always run my guitar volume at the 1-2 position for set up and then crank it open to see what gives. Keep in mind this is not set in stone but it works for me. Again I like that noise sometimes as long as it doesn't have any other crap in it, lol.
  13. They don't call them stomp switches for nuth'in, lol. Don't be afraid to step on that baby hard. Just don't stomp on the other buttons the same way or you'll be sorry. :) Also, use a gingerly touch on the USB connections.
  14. Also, if you feel like you want to expand get the free version of Ableton and use it as a slave to RiffWorks. It's great combo. Also, the free version of Reason can be slaved at the same time for further experimentation. I use all 3 at the same time most of the time. When I use Reason Adapted, I'm using drum beats and keys from my KB37.
  15. Try starting out using the cleanest setting on your Amp. Example drive set low, tone stack and volume at 12 o'clock. Be prepared to make adjustments to the mixer in the HD500. Try putting a volume pedal after the mixer. Try honing in on the amp model or effect with the Pods master at 12 o'clock. I use "Combo Front" in the Pod and set the Highs and Lows to flat (the highs & lows can always be cut), and adjust the mid to see what gives. Also, I set up with the guitar volume at it's lowest setting. The pods 1/4" out set to "AMP", the Guitar in at "Normal" and Guitar In Z setting at 3.5m. Good luck and have fun.
  16. True, good point. I use Ableton as a slave to RiffWorks. I first set the "Line 6 Audio" buffer setting to what I want and then I open RiffWorks, let that start and then open Ableton. What I see happening is Ableton follows suit so in effect I don't need to set the DAW. I suppose it depends on which DAW your using. It's possible you need to check both to be sure they're the same.
  17. You should look into adjusting the buffer in the "Line 6 Audio Midi Devices" settings. This helped me once with that problem. You may also try uninstalling everything related to the software your using with "line 6 uninstaller", restart the computer and reinstall it all and restart the computer. Obviously, do not throw away your GX. The one I have from '08 is still going strong.
  18. Also, you can pick up noise from the computers power supply, especially if your guitar is facing it or close enough to it. Try unplugging the power supply to see what gives.
  19. Welcome Jim, LOL, Yes it always flashes. I recommended to someone else to just cover it in a clever manner. Personally it doesn't bother me as I've been seasoned with a lifetime of annoyances. As for the Performance Mode, It states in that window "no guitar to RCA and Phones" which tells me it gives priority to just the Speaker. So if your not recording monitoring with headphones and/or using the RCA out you should use it.
