  1. Amen Brother, Best Wishes into the New Year!!
  2. Sounds like your going to have tweak them. Maybe try adjusting the amp volume, volume pedals, compressors, mixer levels, Do each of them just a little or just trial and error until your happy.
  3. You should have a good time gigging with it. I've run the UX2 for 24 hours at a time many times without a hitch. Although at the beginning it took some doing to get it reliable. Meaning that I had situations where the sound just stopped 'cause there were issues with my computer, so I took the time to sort all that out to were my system became reliable. You may have a better experience than I did. When I purchased the UX2 I was prepared to understand that I might have issues before becoming comfortable with it simply 'cause it was quite a bit (computer OS, Software, Guitar, etc.) for me to learn all at once and I'm pretty sure I'm always going to be learning now, lol. I use clipping to know when I'm maxed out. I pretty much go by ear. You can get digital clipping within the signal chain.
  4. I can relate to your concern with this. I've been using the UX2 since '08 and shortly after that I got an X3 Pro and have been using GearBox since. I still use GB but I now have a KB37 which came with PodFarm 2.57 which is surely an upgrade although I still like GearBox and will continue to use it. Once you start to get familiar with clipping and digital clipping with the modelers it get very easy to just make a patch off the cuff. Your amp expects a guitar signal and now your going to use a line level which is hotter. I've done this a Spider Jam 75w (SS), Spider III 15 (SS), VOX Mini 3 (SS), Jet City Picovalve (tube) and a DT50 Head (tube) and still do from time to time. It's a great way to test out tones while creating them without using headphones for long periods of time at bedroom level or LOUD. There will be tweaking involved. Took me a long time to get really comfortable with it although I was learning how to play guitar at the same time. That was quite a bit for my coconut to handle, lol. Now I can have fun with it. My motto is "Start low and work up". Use that output knob and get familiar with whatever GUI and computer your using. You can monitor your tone with headphones to build the tone first. Turn down the headphone knob and then turn up the output knob slowly to send it to your amp. Make sure you turn down the headphones before you take them off to listen with your monitor.
  5. I just do it by ear if it sounds good I'm happy. I always start at low levels and work my way up. i've never hurt any amp working this way.
  6. Sounds like you you need to reflash the firmware which will make it like new. Read the Instructions to update 2.09 firmware.
  7. I bet if you took a piece of plumbers Teflon (comes in small string and tape form) and place a few wraps around the trem arm after it's in it's place then screwing the cap over that therefore compressing the Teflon around the tremolo arm creating a very smooth friction feel to it would work well. I also have Teflon stock that comes in handy for all sorts of things. Shaves off the bar nicely with sharp knife. I generally use a shaving or two in my standard Strat tremolo arm to take up slack from worn threads, creates a nice smooth friction feel to it. It'll wear out but it takes a long time in my experience. Teflon is some tough stuff.
  8. Love it!! LOL Happy New Year!!
  9. I use the EX-1 too and I don't have a mission pedal at this time. I suppose you could run your external FX into the FX loop in the HD500 and create an FX loop in the chain after the the amp. Of course your going to have to adjust levels of your FX and the FX loop until your happy.
  10. That's a good question. I can't seem to find what it's modeled after either.
  11. What I do when I do this is adjust the tube amp so that I have a clean channel, keeping the drive low and the volume to around 30 -50%, the tone stack at 50%. With the output knob on the UX2 at 0 create a tone using the amp I want. In GearBox adjust the "out to hardware" to 100 % and unmute it 'cause I'm going to use the output knob on the UX2 to adjust my level while I adjust the amp model. This should get you going. Hope you have fun. Any questions just ask. I've had quite a bit of fun with a Jet City Picovalve and TonePort UX2 and still do.
  12. The M would be a Mission Engineering pedal. Sounds like your gonna have some fun with your new toy. Hope you enjoy it. Welcome to the forum and Happy New Year.
  13. I'm sorry to hear to about your loss and issue with the UX2 Mac Book Pro problem. There is known issues with some mac users or at least I remember reading posts as to this effect. You should search and read the forums relating to your issue although someone may help you along eventually. Hope you get it going soon.
  14. Thanks for the clarification that the UX2 has a built in pre amp and that all mics need a mic preamp. Sounds like it's all about balancing impedance. I'm really just trying to understand this better so I can reduce trial and error time wasteing, lol. Thanks Again Mike. Your the Man!!
  15. There's known issues with the EX-1. I use one and it works ok for what I do. The Mission Engineering Pedal is the one to look at. They make quite a few pedals. There's a fix for the EX-1 somewhere on the net if you search you should find something about adding resistors to open up the range of motion.
  16. The OP has been saying he's going to use a phantom power device, At least that's how I read it. lol. So my explanation is same 'cause I'm using UX2 and only the phantom power power part of it. I repeat he's says he's going to use a phantom power device before the GX. The routing I've used is the same thing. You have not convinced me. I need more evidence, lol. Is it fair to say that not all 48v phantom power devices are not created equal? As far as I know all one needs to do to make a condenser mic work is power it with 48v, it's similar to a power mic back in the CB days. The preamp part is separate. So your saying that the UX2, no matter what I do. Even if I use a clean path, no amp etc, etc. is still being affected by a mic pre amp. Maybe I need clarification on this. To the OP, Make sure you do your research so you understand what it's all about before you try stuff. Sounds like you are like me a bit in that you like to experiment with things. It always pays to read as much as you can and ask as many questions as you can Rock On and Good Luck. Be sure to let us know how it works for you. The AKG 420 Condenser mic I'm using may not need a pre amp read below So what I'm I'm gathering here is that a mic pre is not always needed but the proper amount of phantom power is. I'm done with this particular post, lol. Just this post not the thread :) Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Best Wishes and Many Future Blessings to All.
  17. That was priceless DI snd Rads. LOL
  18. It would be nice Christmas present wouldn't it? Merry Christmas!
  19. Everyone's just drooling over the 5150 :) I can't wait too, lol.
  20. So what I did real quick was set up my condenser mic with my UX2 and GearBox with "No Amp" or FX and ran Ableton Live Lite 8 (Line 6 Edition) and set that to receive the GX and I have crystal clean sound without even running PodFarm as a VSt so then I added the PodFarm VST and added just the Console preamp then increased the Bass, Mid and Treble and got nice clean unaffected sound. It really didn't change the sound much IMO just boosted it. I didn't even need the preamp. It does work after all unless you can pick me apart, it is kinda early. I realize I'm using GearBox for the UX2 instead of PodFarm but I really don't think it makes much difference. Added: Signal Chain AKG Perception 420 Condenser mic>TonePort UX2>Line out 1 into GX guitar input (monitored with headphones from the GX) GX Volume was at Max.Both devices plugged in via USB. Opened GearBox for the UX2 (No Amp) record level at 50%, unmute line out (GUI) and at 50%. Ableton receiving GX signal. The UX2 output line was set at Max and the Mic Gain was set at approx 70%. The UX2 was the 'puters default device although I don't think it really matters. I could have just as well set the GX as default. Ok here's a sample: Condenser Mic Rig UX2 Power Into GX I just set the mic on the table in front of the 'puter and adjusted the record level (in GearBox) appropriately. As far as I can see here I'm only duplicating the 48v phantom power with the UX2 to simulate the OPs phantom power device. So this may not be conclusive.
  21. Sounds Great!! Excellent Song. Merry Christmas :) Oh and She'll remember it. Thanks for sharing.
  22. It will work 'cause your going to power your condenser mic before the GX.
  23. You may have a real problem. If you really think you do, you should call line 6 and speak to a tech, might something beyond you. As Clint Eastwood has said "A man's gotta know his limitations." Don't hesitate to to take the time to call them.
  24. I've never thanked you for the video CA. Very good presentation on both of the pods. Have you experimented as far using the two together somehow? I know I would've, lol. Thanks Again. Another good video on the caparison, Thanks "A". It's giving me a better perspective on the 2 pods. I have quite a bit of fun with pods that I have and I don't have money to burn although over the years have collected quite a few devices, lol. The 20% more DSP isn't quite a game changer for me but might be for the expert musician. So for now I'm going to run my HD500 into the ground ever so slowly, lol. I'm still using a TonePort UX2 and X3 Pro on a regular basis and they're rock solid. Rock On! Best Wishes and Future Blessings in up and coming New Year Everyone. :) P.S.: I like Line 6's innovative attitude toward sound and will continue to follow them 'till the end. I also like Yamaha's. :)
  25. Great discovery, I may not have figured that out right away either. I don't have a Variax or JTV......yet, but i do have an Ibanez exotic wood acoustic with the piezo and I know what your talking about. These pick ups are very sensitive for sure. It takes all I got to knobulate the piezo plunk out, lol.
