  1. I updated my DT50 with it on in stby. Successfully.
  2. If there isn't any menu it would suggest that the Spider is not functioning properly and you won't be able to do as I suggested. In order to get to the format card function you need to press the "Save" button and scroll to to it.
  3. I always format the card with the Spider Jam. Have you tried that?

    Fatal Error

The word Fatal means "Death", your SJ I think is dead, You might want to call Line 6 tech and see what they say since they're the creators of it. On the more hopeful side. Does the SJ start without the card in it? If it does Scroll to "Format SD Card" in settings, insert the card and format it with the SJ and then remove the card, you can remove the card from the Amp without turning it off as long as your not reading or writing anything to the card. Then put the card in your 'puter and put the SJ update bin file on your card. Then back in the amp it goes and now scroll to firmware update and let her rip. If nothing happens that looks good call Line 6 or get to repair center or buy a new amp. The latter is probably the answer since repairs can be so costly it doesn't make sense to repair. Lastly, If mine goes dead I'm doing this if it's too costly to fix. You can use you Spider Jam Cab as an Extension Cabinet for a Tube Amp or an Amp that has an 8 Ohm Output. Of Course, you'll have to make a 1/4 input jack on the Spider Jam somewhere for the connection. Best Wishes.
  5. Hahahaaaaa, I've heard of this happening many times before. LOL Your quote sounds like a song in the making. :)
  6. I understand your grief although Line 6 should not be responsible for the differences in computers. Unfortunately there is no real standard in the way computer manufacturers have to build computers, at least that I'm aware of since the differences I see in them are so vast. Maybe you should do things the old fashioned way and write a letter to the corporate office explaining with sincerity your issues with the device and that you would like them to refund your money and have them take the product back. You get more bee's with honey than vinegar. Hope all works out for you. P.S.: Other alternatives would be to see if you can sell the device to someone whom it will serve a purpose.
  7. I had the problem with the X3 Pro were the sound would just freeze up suddenly, no sound at all and the only fix for it was to restart the my laptop (Win 7) and then all was good for a long time and then it would come back. So I did some research here and found a link to USBDeview Program. Ran that program in admin mode and uninstalled all usb entries relating to X3 Pro and also removed any entries I figured I wasn't using anymore, besides they can be reinstalled anyway if need be. I also removed all other line 6 entries since i have many other line 6 devices. In essence only having usb entries that i need. Total count of entries was 4 when I got done, when I started it was 70, lol. After I did that and reinstalled all the related software the issue was non existent. Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving. USBDeiveiw Web Page the other link is the direct download.
  8. Glad you clicked with it!! I like to try different programs as much as I can to see what kind of options I have, but there's a limit like how many programs I can pile up in my 'puter before it just gets too clogged up. LOL. "The Brink" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGwA7zmbryY
  9. That's freak'in good Man!!!!! :D
  10. Must have been at the same time a solar flare happened. Unexplainable things happen with firmware/software. they just do. Glad you got it going. Now get ready to eat some turkey and Rock & Roll! Oh and I dig your images man! :)
  11. Dang your good BB!! Although I kinda gave it away, I think, LOL. Glad to hear your going to get your wah a new pot!!. Thanks for the cool comment, hahaaa. I like the BB a lot. I'm trying to get to learn how to construct my own beats and songs which may take me a while, since my coconut started to leak it's juices a long time ago, lol. It's got quite a bit for me to fool around with though. One can never have too many noise makers :).
  12. I don't think your missing too much if your already gigging successfully with what you have. If you want to get new equipment it should be that you want to get it. If you get the chance go find a store that has an amp you think you want and then go an try it out for a while. Still there's nothing like a tube amp, lol. Rock On!!
  13. Don't sit on the fence too long your AZO might hurt, lol. What's funny is I was having trouble naming music I just made and before I saw this thread I just named it "My AZO Hurtz". Nothing like a tube Amp Man!! I went and got the DT50, glad I did, but I still enjoy using my Spider Jam and other amps.
  14. I enjoy your posts too!! Thanks for the replys guys, your experiences have taught me quite a bit over time as it takes a while for knowledge to seep deep into my coconut, lol. Good question Martin, having the option of just using a switch for simpler playing sessions sounds good to me. I tried a simple homemade momentary switch with a TS cord and it changes channels and holds as long as you keep your foot on the switch, which is kinda cool for some quick in and out of clean to dirt type play. I use it that way sometimes :). Good info geppert, It takes a good amount of time to figure out options so I really appreciate the input. I have much respect for people who work with these sorts of things. I think I need a latching switch next to that momentary switch box I made recently, lol.
  15. I like your thinking already!!
  16. Get the Pod Studio the TonePort is the older one, Studio version comes with more goodies.
  17. I've been using my TonePort UX2 since 2008 and I have countless hours on this thing it has paid itself off over and over. I bought the model packs shortly after getting everything installed, well worth it to me. Having the Phantom Power, and quite a few ways to record is one of the reasons I chose it. At the time it came with Ableton Line 6 Edition which has been very good DAW. and of course GearBox which I still use, lol, PodFarm is better though. Oh yeah, it came with RiffWorks Line 6 Edition also.
  18. I suppose the Spider Jam's brains can only manage a small amount of storage is the reason for the limitation. I always just format the card in the amp. I'll record songs with the amp and save them as a Wav file to the SD Card and I can do quite a few songs before I have to upload to my computer. Keep in mind you can record also by micing the cab or direct by using the headphones out. I've done both with ok results but as long as I can record using the Spider Jams memory I will. I found a standard 2gb SD Card on Amazon >>>> http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SD2GB-2GB-SD-Card/dp/B000YH5FOK and 1gb which I use >>>>> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I5ZC3W/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1944687402&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000O1HSN2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0AQDP1WHCJA2AJYZ5YEB
  19. Hey BillBee, thanks for the shout. sorry to hear about the high winds, we had some too, lol. Father winter blew hard recently. I was new to buying guitars when I bought my first Schecter. Since I'm a form of craftsman when I looked at that Devil Custom (the first Schecter guitar I bought) I saw how nice it was put together plus the price was knocked down about $500. I just had to get it and I don't regret it. Nice Ebony over Mahogany neck with stainless frets, real smooth feel. The EHX pedal takes some getting used to , like anything else new, But I'm starting to like it, I also got the EHX Tube EQ and EHX Expression pedal which I also like. Rock On with High Gain!! Happy Thanksgiving
  20. When I first got my HD500 I was thinking about taking a strategically placed bead of silicone and gluing one of those pigtails in there to avoid the worn out port syndrome. Thought about it a bit and just decided I didn't need to since I was going be the only one using it and wasn't going to move it around much. If it was going to be used and abused I would have used clear silicone sealer to glue that thing. plus the silicone would keep out dirt etc, etc.
  21. Cool glad you got it going again, although It can still be that power tube. They do weird things inside that glass while they're burning. Jam On!!
  22. Yeah, any of these "small connectors" are fragile, treat them with a gingerly touch unless you want issues and that's not even fool proof. If they made that "lollipop" (that breaks) which locates the usb connection on the pod with a gradual taper, it may have helped relieve the stress on it when one inserts it at an angle thus keeping it from breaking off.
  23. You can make some cool Jams by just sitting in front of this thing and layering in some riffs while at the same time turning knobs and pushing buttons. The Spider Jam is a very interesting piece of equipment. I'm always learning something new with the Spider Jam. Check out this one, fresh off the SD Card, lol. I used a Schecter Omen 8, Schecter Devil Custom, and an EHX Crying Tone Pedal. Wahsumption Guitars Link
