Great Point radatats. I don't think I have as much experience as you do when it comes to gigging and amps. I like the sounds I get from the Spider III 75 and Spider Jam. I prefer the sound of at minimum a 75w ss or 50w tube the best. For fooling around with friends and family I'll try anything though, LOL.

I use different amps all the time. When starting to make a patch with a blank or new tone as soon as you insert a noise gate at the beginning of the chain it turns into stereo patch. Check it out, try it without it and then insert it. You'll do yourself a favor by learning about the chain and effects and how they interact together. Somewhere in this forum is good info on it. I'll try to dig it up. HD500 Routing Thread Stereo & Mono effects list is on this page Model Gallery PDF

I've had mine since late 2008 and it still works great. I do take as good a care as i can of it though. It doesn't get banged around 'cause I don't gig with it though although I don't think that should matter. Also I use the devices I have regularly since I feel that letting them sit around too long not plugged in and powered up leads to a dead device. I have had to reflash mine at least 5 times in it's life due to issues such as yours. I think that most of my troubles are due to me trying to adjust things too fast which might cause a corruption somewhere. Keep in mind I'm not a certified tech but I have quite of bit of experience with software as a user.

POD X3 LIKE: Sound Distorted sound bad at all effects
Brazzy replied to gustavopss's topic in POD X3
Welcome. Please clarify your setup for us. For example are you monitoring with an amp or headphones? What guitar are you using? Are you using studio direct out, combo front or stack front etc.? and any other stuff you can think about. -
Have you tried a different cable? Sometimes a cable can look good but be bad. Also, always plug the cable into the guitar first then plug the other end into the amp to prevent an unwanted loud noise.
-
That's a long run for a cable. What is that just short of a mile. Lol

Why no drive pedal in mobile pod?
Brazzy replied to Melissiah's topic in Sonic Port devices / Mobile In
I was wondering why they stopped with it too. I still use it sometimes though. I think they just moved on and put all the energy into AMPLIFI which works with the newer iPhones, iPads and iPods were as the Mobile In still works with older iPad which is limited to iOS 5.1.,1. -
To the OP's question: Sounds like your getting RF from something around your rig. Such as VOIP, phones, monitor screens, power supplies etc. If you face your guitar pick ups towards the things that maybe in question you should hear that noise intensify some. This is off topic: I'm not an electrician either, I consulted someone about grounding my 1/2 wave Starduster antenna for a transceiver set=up quite a long time ago and was told to run an 3/16" aluminum wire from the ground pole of the antenna down to the ground (dirt) and clamp that to a 5 foot copper rod. I drove a 6 foot galvanized pipe into the ground and then drove the copper rod with the wire on it, into that. Then I would fill the pipe with water if it was dry. Never had a problem always a clean signal and excellent standing wave ratio. Also that thick wire made a great ground plane, IMO.

One thing I've noticed is that if I have my guitar volume at wide open as opposed to under or up to 1/3 open I will get more noise from the guitar. So most of the time I make my settings with the guitar volume at a low setting then while playing if I need more drive I just turn the the G volume up and of course I set my patches accordingly.

You'll likely figure out what you need to do if your persistent. I'm certainly no expert on the subject but I do have some experience with this stuff and I read alot, lol. As long as your asking questions and trying different things, your on your way to success. Best Wishes :)

From what I understand, this was a mistake. you need to tweak tones in the environment your going to play in or at the very least monitor from a set of PA speakers.
-
To the OP! Don't feel too bad my DT50 Head just took a poopie. I'll have to put my other noise makers into full time mode till it gets done making the round trip to and from the doctors.
-
Hope you find the cause in your deep search.
-
That's a brutal story.
-
I would never throw it away, I'd make it a speaker cabinet for one my tube amps first. Does it make the noise even if the guitar is connected? if so I would format the SD card after saving anything you have on it. Then get the firmware on the card and install it.

You should be ok just remove the old one from your account and add the new number.

Very Cool Post!! Thanks "H" for sharing your experienced knowledge.

I know where your coming from when you say your new, we've all been there. Usually the reverb is put at the very end of the chain, but it can go anywhere as you've just experienced. When I started I read the manual anytime I could and sandbagged this forum at the same time, lol. Oh yeah, did I mention That was years ago and I'm still learning something new?

Welcome. How are you monitoring? Are you hooked up to a computer using Pod Farm & a DAW? All the details about your set-up and settings will yield you better answers. If your monitoring from Pod Farm and your DAW at the same time your monitoring won't be accurate. If you record using Pod Farm and a DAW turn down the monitoring in Pod Farm as to mute it so it doesn't mix with your DAW.

Like TheRealZap said It could be hardware. I do remember one other time i had to uninstall and reinstall the sound software that originally came with my computer. There may have been a conflict with the two in my particular situation. Can you try it on another computer? I always try as much as I can before getting ready part with my device.

Back in the day of the CB and Ham Radio people in homes (truckers included) use linear amplifiers which were not legal to use unless you had a specific license, If recall correctly. These significantly boosted radiated signal which commonly bled over into the telephones of peoples homes, lol, thus the FCC. The CB's themselves could be modified to unlock hidden goodies also, which would also create higher output. I say "Back in the day" although people still currently use these devices.

Good Old SETI, LOL Good One!! :)

This is a good point. I recently had another computers power supply, which wasn't hooked up to my rig causing RF into my sound. It was similar to this sound you have. I almost forgot about iit, even created a thread on it, lol. Maybe the HD 500's power supply isn't quite right?
