If you make an amp hum and add effects you can get some interesting background noise, just depends on the person is all. If it's not there you can't use it... Right? It's like another color on the painters pallet.

Upgrading from hardware-dependent Pod Farm???
Brazzy replied to jamesf93's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
I would just keep the TonePort UX2 in case you want those tones later. I would have to be pretty desperate to part with mine.- 4 replies

Your Welcome and yes that's what I'm saying, although I don't have the HD Pro X, I have the HD500 and the X3 Pro.

I've been learning how to use RiffWorks and without formal training it's a-lot to chew all at once. So after using it off and on for years now I finally have figured out that they must be some of the "absolute smartest people on earth", lol. The more I learn how to play guitar and use the modeling, RiffWorks, Abelton and Reason I'm so impressed with how it works it gives me "goose bumps" and just intensifies my urge to make music using this method. I should add II feel the same way about the people who are involved with the making of Ableton, and Reason and with how all three programs integrate together to make such a powerful music producing software. Also ,I feel the same way about those who gave birth to PodFarm and GearBox. While I'm at it I have to commend those who did up Windows 7 and this Sony Vaio VGN AR 630 E I use to compute with., Ok enough "Brown Nose'n" LOL and on with the "Brown Sound"!! It hasn't been easy and I'm still learning, which is what I want. Rock On People.!! Thanks to all those people. You know who you are!! :) Anyone else as impressed as I am?

You should be able select "no amp" the same way you select an amp. Just turn the selector till you see "no amp" and you should be able to adjust the bypass volume. You can do the same thing with the "cab" except there is no bypass volume.

Forget about all that teky she-it and learn how to play guitar!!! Come On !! Hahahahaaaa

I can't wait Maaaaaaaaaan!!!!!! LOL I recently had to send Line 6 my 13 month old DT50 Head which quit working and I can't wait to get it back 'cause it just sounds so sweet in stock form, lol. Patience is a virtue.....right??? hahahahaaa

Thanks for sharing, as I can never know enough about this stuff. :)

All I know for sure is that the mixer levels, volume pedals/levels are crucial to dialing in the amps tone. Depends greatly on what your piping it into. For instance I've been piping the left 1/4 output of an HD 500 into a Spider Jams Aux input. Then I set the Pod to Combo Front and set the Highs & Lows to Flat, then I fool around with mid focus to see what gives. You can try the other settings (studio direct, etc.) to see what gives too. Then I pick an amp in an empty patch, then pan the mixer Path A to center and mute Path B. Then add a volume pedal after the mixer and go back to the mixer to adjust the volume level to hone in on the amps sound, kinda like focusing a microscope on an image. After that, I add effects such as noise gate if needed, tube comp, distortions to the beginning of the chain and readjust the mixer volume again. Then I add modulations and delays after the volume pedal and readjust the mixer and volume pedal if need be. Also, the master of the Pod was at 12 o'clock, 1/4 switch was set to "amp", guitar in switch was at "normal", guitar Z was at 3.5m, guitar in settings was input 1=guitar, input 2=variax. Guitars I use would include Ibanez AS73 "humbuckers", Burswood Strat (3 single coils), Shecter Devil Custom (EMG's), Schecter Omen 8, GFS Tele kit guitar and others. Obviously this is just a single path but sometimes simpler is better you can always complicate things later, lol. This is just one way it can be done and very opinionated. Just thought I'd share.

I hear ya when something is so new that ya get all prude about it, things get too tense which takes the fun out of it. Buy finally when the newness wheres off the fun begins!! Bust the Cherry and have a Ball!!

I like to call them "battle scars" which add character to the piece, lol. I laugh but I'm serious :) as nothing that stays looking new hasn't seen much use at all. If that were mine I would glue it good and call it Frankenstein after adding a real stitch to that seam. I've done it in the past with lots of things and end up with people wanting to pay a good price for whatever it is I stitched up, lol. Sounds stupid but it worked Hahahaaa. For this I would drill it appropriately and stitch it with heavy stainless safety wire.

I hear Ya!! Here's to thinking positively :) Wish Ya the Best!!

The question I would raise is >>> If it broke like that, the fall may have weaken the rest of the cabinet considerably it's just that you can't see it.....yet. Hope you get it fixed!

A long awaited feature for sure. I think many just use an MXR 10 band or similar externally.

You said a mouthful there "H". When I first bought a UX2 and GearBox plus Model Packs I was worried 'cause I knew it would take me a while to figure out how to use it let alone troubleshooting it but in the end I was happy 'cause I took the time to really learn how to use it and I still use it all. Metaphorically speaking a doctor cannot diagnose you with a problem if you have symptoms and don't recognize them, thus by the time the issue surfaces most of the time it's too late to do anything to fix it.

Hey Dedoxinator, I like the same things about the Spider Jam that you do as you can just pick it up and play and record your riffs then edit them and add to them with the computer later. It's easy to lose inspiration when it come to making music digitally so a short set up time means a-lot. As far as the loop goes, it's easy to pile up riffs on it although this isn't really a problem 'cause while piling up riffs and making a muddy mess your actually getting your fingers moving and learning new moves without realizing it, lol. Plus you can always delete it or save it and start over fast enough to record that new move you made. Writers of past would throw away a-lot of paper making mistakes as they write, with music we can just delete it and start over, lol. Have a Great Day and Rock On!

Wow new Pod HD firmware release with model packs and global eq!! Nice post

Thanks for the update! Maybe you had a recording glitch of some kind. Glad you linked it to taking the card out etc.. I haven't had any real issues like that since the last update. Just made this with the Spider Jam recently using the "Jax" drums Rock'in the Jax Beat yesterday using the "Unexcited" Song Unexcited and forget which drums >> Lossening Up, lol. Added: Hav'in a Blast

\Your Welcome, You'll get it. I have to admit it took me a long time to figure things out and I'm still always learning. Good Luck and try to have fun while learning. Whenever I ran into, metaphorically speaking, a road block I would just start playing guitar, lol. Then later come back to the "tek-a-nikle" stuff. Don't forget to browse through the manual when you can.

Ok, more specifically it must be 16 bit 44100Hz mono wav.
-
Make sure it's a Mono wav file. If it isn't edit it with a program like Audacity. You can make a Stereo wav into a Mono pretty easy.
-
I've seen this before with RiffWorks one time when I worked the program really hard. It started to flake out like that. I was getting a "runtime error" message and I haven't seen it happen in a long time since I learned how to better use that program. It must be a sort of instability but I'm no expert.

The Zoom interests me too, Nice posts"R"!! As for me at the moment the HD 500 is fine the way it is since I primarily use for recording digitally and playing around with family. As time passes by my appreciation for the POD grows. :)
