  1. Not sure what you mean by ‘delete’. A setlist has 128 preset slots. You can’t ‘delete’ a slot and make it 127. You delete a preset by replacing the contents of its slot with an empty preset.
  2. You may be able to use snapshots for this if you’re not already using them in the preset.
  3. That's not possible. Footswitch assignments are made on a preset basis, not a snapshot basis.
  4. Helix Native operates as a plug-in to a DAW (audio recording program on a computer). The HX Stomp will achieve the same thing but it must be connected via USB in order to do so. Helix Native operates independently - no need for HX Stomp to be connected. Whether or not you ‘need’ Helix Native depends on whether or not you want to be tied to the Helix hardware every time you are recording. HX Edit is not really relevant in this context. It’s just a computer based editor for the Helix hardware. It does not produce any audio - just passes command and control data back and forth between the computer and the Helix hardware.
  5. In Stomp mode you need to assign the footswitches to an FX block in order for any text to be displayed. An unassigned footswitches shows no text. Check your Global Settings for footswitches. If the display mode includes Stomp on the bottom row and none of those footswitches are assigned you will see what you describe.
  6. Sounds like you’re figuring it out. Not so hard once you get the hang of it. And everything can be done with one footswitch. Have fun!
  7. I’m not sure I really understand what you’re asking. Many of the Helix amp models actually model only one channel of the associated physical amp, as you can see in the model list: https://helixhelp.com/models/guitar-amps.html#guitar For instance, there are three different Helix amp models for the physical Marshall Super Lead 100 amp - normal, bright and jumped. On the physical amp you can get a wide range of tones from clean to heavy distortion. But using only the Helix Brit Plexi Jmp model you won’t be able to get the same clean tones that you might get on the physical amp. It’s a futile effort to try.
  8. Do a factory reset. This will install the v2.82 factory presets, including the empty UserX set lists. Then use HX Edit to Restore your v2.7x system backup or import individual saved set lists. If restoring from backup choose not to restore the factory set lists.
  9. I’m not into detailed technical specs either. To me, an FRFR speaker and a PA speaker are the same thing. They are both very different from a typical guitar amp cab/speaker. Yes, you will get good results by running your mic and Firehawk through a mixer and powered PA speakers.

    'HISSING'

There can be many reasons for this. One of the most common is that the signal level reaching your PA speakers is too low and increasing it introduces and/or amplifies ‘noise’ in the signal, which is heard as hissing. To address this, work backwards from the speakers. Turn them down and increase the signal/volume level of the mixer/PA output. Proceed backwards in the signal path again, increasing the mixer/PA channel level output, then the channel input trim, then the Helix master volume level. Check that the Helix output jack levels are set appropriately for the receiving device (Line level vs. Instrument level; check for this compatibility first). Since it happens with all amps you probably don’t have to look any further within Helix (e.g. amp channel volume) but consider the signal chain before it reaches Helix. Is your guitar volume loud enough? Are there other pedals or devices before Helix with a low volume level? EDIT: This whole concept is called ‘gain staging’. In designing tones you need to consider the signal level as it proceeds from one component in the chain to the next. Each step can involve a mismatch where a too-low or too-high level can introduce undesirable effects.
  11. ... just bumping this to make sure you see the edits I made to the above post......
  12. Yes, you could do that. But imho it's both better and easier to do it in the Helix preset. Here's a step-by-step procedure. Let me know if/where you get confused. Let's do it all on the Helix device itself, not HX Edit. If you prefer using HX Edit I'm sure you'll be able to transpose. To keep it simple let's set it up starting with a New Preset. You can add an amp/cab if you wish just to make things sound more realistic but let's not get distracted by other tonal adjustments and FX. Of course, your Variax needs to be connected to Helix via VDI - not the 1/4" output. 1) Select the Input block in a New Preset. Press the Page > button to view the Variax settings. Use knob 1 (Variax Settings) to select Per Preset. Use knob 6 (Preset Variax Tuning) to select Custom. 2) Press the Page > button again to view the individual string tuning offsets. The default, of course, is standard tuning with all string offsets set to 0. Use knobs 1 - 6 to do two things for each string you want to retune: a) push and rotate the knob to assign the string tuning to the Snapshots controller. You will see brackets appear around the setting. b) rotate the knob (don't push it) to select the desired tuning offset in semi-tones (frets). 3) After defining the desired offsets for any or all 6 strings in the given snapshot, SAVE the preset. 4) Press the Preset knob to view preset parameters. Use knob 5 to select a new snapshot. Press the Home button to return to the signal flow view. 5) Repeat steps 1 through 4 for all desired snapshots within the preset. As a simple example, to create a snapshot with Drop D tuning you would only need to adjust the String 6 parameter. Assign it to the Snapshot controller in 6a and set the offset to -2 (D) in Step 2b. In your case I think you only need two snapshots - one for standard tuning and one for Blues G (x-G-D-G-B-D). Note the 'x' tuning on the 6th string, meaning muted. If you really want to get the real Keef style (in his own words: 5 strings, 3 fingers, and an a$$hole) you could go to the final page of the Variax settings and assign the String 6 volume level to zero in your Blues G snapshot using steps 2a and 2b above. To use the footswitches to select Snapshots use the Global Settings -> Footswitches displ;ay. Use knob 2 (Preset Mode Switches) to make sure Snap is included in the setting. Note that you can also swap the Variax Model in different snapshots by adjusting the Preset Variax Model parameter. Hope this helps.
  13. I believe the Custom Tuning parameters in a Helix preset can be assigned to the snapshot controller. So, yes, you can do that. Use two snapshots; define one to be standard tuning and the other to be Blues G. I have one preset that uses the Variax Mags In standard tuning and a Variax acoustic model tuned to capo 3rd fret. A quick tap on snapshot footswitches to go back and forth during the song.
  14. Have you downloaded and installed the Line 6 driver?
  15. That is normal behaviour. The Helix is a fully compliant ASIO device which means the same device is used for both audio input and output simultaneously. With Helix connected via USB your internal computer soundcard is bypassed. You need to connect your speakers/headphones to the Helix outputs.
  16. I confess that I haven’t read this entire thread so apologies if this is a redundant or irrelevant comment.... I’m curious. Are you using an external expression pedal? If so there’s a Global Setting -> EXP Pedals that may be relevant. The manual describes the Position parameter as follows: Determines whether each expression pedal position is recalled per snapshot, per preset, or applied globally. If you want a Volume Pedal or Wah to maintain its position when switching presets, set this to "Global." Is it possible that this setting, in combination with various different pedal positions when a preset is recalled, could explain the behaviour? If the pedal position is physically at minimum (full heel position) when a preset is selected, and the pedal is assigned to the VOL block, could that position cause the preset volume Level to be zero? Perhaps experimenting with different settings and operational behaviour could shed some light on this? I don’t own an HX Stomp so can’t do this myself.

    Helix 2.9

Yes - for user-to-user technical support and discussion. Here's a snip of the first paragraph of Line 6 Tony's pinned post at the top of this page: Welcome to the Line 6 Forums Hello, Line 6ers. We are pleased to announce the latest incarnation of our community support forums. Feel free to explore and post threads. Our forums are here so that our community members will continue to help one another, partake in respectful, thought-provoking debates and conversations, and forge great relationships. Doesn't say anything about Line 6 staff or their contributions in the form of general product information and announcements. However I do expect that youi'll get a personal acknowledgement and accolades when a tuner is included in HX Edit. :-)

    Helix 2.9

A COUPLE OF MONTHS!!!! ????? OMG - what’s happening in a couple of months? Is it going to take that long for Helix v2.9? Or maybe that’s when you’ll announce v3.0? Or OMG OMG is that when you will announce that the next gen modeler will be released? If I buy Helix now will it be obsolete that soon? Or what about a new Variax? We’ve been waiting to hear about that for a long time now. Or is Variax dead forever? OMG OMG A COUPLE OF MONTHS?? !!! WTF!!! WHAT’S HAPPENING????
  19. The HD500 can serve as the AI - just connect it via USB to your PC. Use Cakewalk by Bandlab as your recording program. You will need to download and install the Line 6 driver for the HD500 (see Downloads button at the top of this page). Cakewalk should automatically recognize the Hd500 and its ASIO driver for audio purposes but you may need to configure this manually. After creating an audio track in Cakewalk and arming it for recording you need to select the Record Input source which can vary depending on your HD500 preset configuration. See the HD500 manual for the available options. As a starting point consider this preset which I designed years ago for simultaneous electric guitar and vocals recording. I know you wont’t be playing guitar and sax simultaneously but by understanding how this preset is configured you will be well on the way to understanding how to customize it or create others appropriately. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/
  20. You can’t add models of any sort to Firehawk FX. That would need to be done with a firmware update by Line 6. There’s no guarantee that there will be an update.
  21. Sorry, no. The HD packs are not compatible with Firehawk.
  22. Are you sure you’re talking about a preset and not a setlist?

    LOADING IR's

in HX Edit I see the Import/Export options greyed out until I select an IR slot. Then they become active. You can import several IRs at once - they will fill the slots downward beginning with the selected slot. Then again, I can drag/drop IRs successfully and you can't seem to. So whatever is affecting that might also be affecting the Import/Export functions.

    LOADING IR's

Can't say why that isn't working.... but have you tried using the Import function rather than drag/drop?
  25. Well then.... use Helix into power monitors for your electric and bass guitars. ... and if you’re using Helix anyway, reconsider my first response and consider using Helix for everything with the 4-channel Factory Templates preset.
