  1. That is not expected behaviour. These presets should not be rebuilt at every startup. I would open a support ticket.
  2. I suggest the following test for each of you: - turn Helix on and observe the rebuild you are reporting here. - IMMEDIATELY turn Helix off. Avoid touching anything; in particular make sure you do not edit any preset. Don't even switch to another preset. - turn Helix on again and observe whether or not any presets are rebuilt. --> if so, open a support ticket with Line 6. This should not be happening nad you may have one or more corrupt presets; --> if not, then the presets are not in fact being rebuilt every time you turn Helix on. There must be something you are doing in each editing session (e.g. importing presets) that is causing a rebuild at the next startup.
  3. Just a guess - but do the snapshots have a different time variable for the delay FX? If so what you're hearing is entirely normal - exactly what would happen with an analog delay pedal if you adjust the time knob while playing.
  4. I'm not sure whether you can use the v2.80 Updater to roll back to v2.71 - probably not. But after rolling back the firmware you'll want HX Edit v2.71 anyway (HX Edit v2.80 is certainly not compatible with the v2.71 firmware) so why not download it first and use the 2.71-compatible versions of the driver and Updater? That way you'll avoid any potential incompatibility. Also, unless you made backups of your v2.71 presets you cannot roll back; presets that were rebuilt for v2.80 (which happens after the 2.80 firmware installation) are no longer compatible with v2.71 firmware.
  5. Mainly PCs running Win7/10. I believe (just from reports - not officially from Line 6) that it has to do with some sort of corruption to the USB driver. ZReinstalling the driver and/or trying different USB ports seems to be effective.
  6. All of them. You'll get as many 'favourites' as there are users.
  7. I suspect the behaviour was changed intentionally (so not a bug) in response to those who expressed their preference that was exactly opposite to yours. They would argue: "I don't want to name it to the active block. I want to customize it - so no default is desired. Leave it at Multiple so I can change it to exactly what I want." If you want to customize it to the name of the Drive you can easily do so.
  8. Confirming what cruisinon2 said.... If you use an Amp+Cab block in HX stomp do not use an IR block. If you want to use an IR block use an Amp block (no Cab) in the HX stomp preset and place the IR block anywhere after the amp in the signal chain.
  9. Yes - but before doing so make backup copies of all your other setlists to restore them later. Or, if you already have a backup file, after restoring the v2.80 factory presets you can restore the backup but de-select the factory presets in the backup so you don't overwrite the new ones.
  10. Sounds to me like you are using an old and obsolete version of the editor - a program simply called Helix. What you want is the new editor - a program called HX Edit. The latest version of the editor is v2.80. If you don't already have it go to the downloads page and follow the instructions carefully to update everything related: The HX Edit program, the Line 6 driver, the Line 6 Updater program and the Helix device firmware.
  11. Again, if none of the strategies described in several similar threads don't work for you open a support ticket. You'll find links to the helpful threads in the first reply to this thread: https://line6.com/support/topic/48581-280-helix-lt-update-doesnt-continue-after-boot-failure-message
  12. Yes - this is normal behaviour. The first rebuild (part of the update process) happens because Helix recognizes that the current presets, from v2.7x, need rebuilding to v2.80 structures. After restoring your v2.7x-created backup and restarting, Helix recognizes the same thing so rebuilds again. The next rebuild will happen at the next startup after you import any pre-v2,80-saved presets. But only the newly imported presets will be rebuilt.
  13. That's correct. Helix Control is not a standalone device; it works only with Helix Rack.
  14. I suggest you open a support ticket to bring this to Line 6's attention. It sounds like a bug.
  15. Presets are rebuilt only once - the first time the Helix device is turned on after the presets were imported. In other words, anytime you import presets from older firmware they will be rebuilt the next time Helix is turned on but not on future startups. I've also noticed that the preset rebuilding seems to take longer in v2.80 but I expect that's because the firmware changes are so significant, likely affecting the preset structures. As an aside, the fact that the presets are not rebuilt immediately on importing but are rebuilt later leads me to wonder if there's any risk associated with editing these presets immediately after importing, before they are rebuilt. For that reason, just as a precaution, I make a habit of turning Helix off/on immediately after importing presets that I know need rebuilding thereby forcing an immediate rebuild and avoiding any potential issues. I'm not saying that there are issues here - just that there might be (otherwise, why rebuild the presets at all?).
  16. If none of the strategies described here and in several other threads work for you please open a support ticket with Line 6.
  17. Remember that the firmware update does not install any factory presets. So unless you have specifically restored the v2.80 Factory presets (an option in the installation instructions) the Factory 2 setlist you have after the v2.80 installation is the setlist you had before updating. Just want to be sure everyone is clear about this.
  18. There is no official info on this. However there are many new presets in the TEMPLATES setlist. These were built to aid in the use of the new Hotkey feature for working with some specific DAWs. As far as the Factory 1 and Factory 2 setlists go there are periodically new or modified presets in a firmware release. I don't know whether or to what extent that has been done in v2.80. You would need to do a manual comparison of the corresponding setlists from v2.7x to v2.80.
  19. Don't you mean 'not really what I am waiting for'? Not sure how you can extrapolate to 'most people'. I happen to prefer the Grammatico and am certainly not waiting for another high-gain amp/channel.
  20. Depending on your Helix model there are different startup sequences to put the Helix in manual update mode. Here are the details: After putting your Helix in update mode restart the Updater program and restart the v2,80 update.
  21. If the update was successful you should see/find the new models in both the device running v2.80 firmware and in HX Edit v2.80. There is no way you can be running v2.80 and not have these models available. In other words if you really can't see them you have not successfully updated. To test: - start your Helix. Go to Global Settings and check the firmware version that is installed (top right corner of the Global Settings main screen). If it is not v2.80 perform the update according to the posted instructions. - if it is v2.80 go to the Home screen. Press the joystick in to display the set of all models. Use the joystick to select the Distortion models. You should see the Heir Apparent and Tone Sovereign models as the 5th and 6th models listed. Similarly, all other new models should be available for selection.
  22. You can submit your suggestions to Ideascale for consideration in future updates.
