The SAVE BUNDLE command is in the Editor, not the HD500x. That command is what saves all presets in the HD500X to a file on your computer. You can also save individual presets or setlists using variations of the SAVE command in the Edit program.

You can use a standard Ethernet cable to replace the VDI temporarily, just as a test. Don't use it longer term - if you discover the VDI cable is bad replace it asap.

The signal sent from the pod to the pc can be heard and recorded in the DAW. I'm not sure what you mean. You are right about the ASIO protocol - that's why you use the Pod as both the audio input and output device.

I think you're right. The m20d is not necessary for your setup. Neither is the Mackie. For small setups like that I simply use the two input channels on my L3t side panel mixer. It also sounds like you could connect your guitar directly to Channel 1 on the L3t, bypassing your VoiceLive for the guitar. This will enable you to use the excellent acoustic guitar 'body' emulation of the L3t. Try it.

Using Logic Pro and HD Edit at the same time may be problematic. Both programs will be using the same USB connection, and that can easily confuse communications. I recommend not using them simultaneously. You're right about the Looper; it's a recording function rather than an editing function so the Editor does not address it.

No - when your Pod is connected, and especially when you select it in Cubase as your audio interface device, it becomes your soundcard. Your internal computer soundracrd, and hence the speakers connected to it, are bypassed. You need to connect speakers/headphones to the Pod outputs to hear the audio. As for the manual, here's the part you missed (page 8-2): Audio Routing When using the POD HD USB connection, the audio driver manages several tasks. The driver feeds the processed guitar signal out the USB Record Send to your computer and receives playback audio from the computer. It also grabs the processed guitar signal before routing it to the Record Send, to provide a low latency monitor signal, and then mixes the monitor signal with the playback audio and feeds this combined signal to your POD HD analog outputs.

The advantage is purely ease-of-use. All parameters of all amps and FX are more visible and accessible; you can see/do most things in a few screens rather than many, many individual screens. You can't do anything in Edit that you can do on the device, and vice-versa. It is no more difficult to SAVE and you don't need to do it more frequently; in both cases it's a conscious action that involves pushing buttons, either on the device itself or with the mouse.

I remember getting myself confused about this. Seemed that sometimes HD500 Edit showed the F- models available for selection, and sometimes not. iirc, it boiled down to which type of Variax (older model vs. JTV) was selected in the editor. Although the JTV is connected via VDI, the editor seems to ignore that and presents you with the option to select an older Variax model for any given preset. It may even default to an older model. And for older models, the F- options are visible and available for selection. But if you switch your Variax Model selection to JTV the F- models disappear. So, in my case, on the occasions when I saw F-models available when my JTV was connected I had not recognized that an older model Variax was mistakenly selected as the Variax Model parameter.

What is the Output mode of your Pod? The L2m is an FRFR speaker system, especially in Reference/PA mode. It has other mode settings that may work better with your HD500 preset. It's important to match the speaker mode to the HD500 Output mode as well as the preset's cab/mic settings. If you are connecting the Pod to the L2m?using L6 LINK, try manually changing the mode of the speaker. By default the speaker switches to Electric Guitar mode when a POD HD device is connected. Depending on your preset you may prefer the sound with the speaker in Reference/PA mode. The HD500X saves the current mode of a StageSource speaker in its stored preset. Because the default value is Electric Guitar, that's the mode the speaker switches to when an HD500X is connected. You can change this on a preset basis by saving the preset after manually switching the speaker mode to a desired different setting. That way you can tailor the speaker mode to your HD500X preset on an individual basis, ensuring that you always have the combination that works best for you.

Both are possible causes.

I don't think the firmware update addresses the problem you describe. I think it's a bad cable or loose connection. You can check the version of the installed firmware by holding down the Feedback button while you power the speaker up. The firmware version will display briefly in the lcd window. The latest speaker firmware is v1.05.

You need the M20d mixer to update speaker firmware.

There's no mention that I can see of this capability in the manual. I don't think you can do it.

Have you tried updating the HD500X driver? With your HD500X disconnected, download the driver from here. Select HD500X as the Product and Driver as the Software. Then choose your OS. http://line6.com/software/ After downloading the file, and with the HD500X still disconnected, install the driver on your PC. After the driver has successfully installed, connect your HD500X via USB. The driver will be installed on your HD500X, and you should get a confirmation message from the Windows Device Driver installation wizard.

I recommend you don't do that if the Pod is still under warranty. Open a support ticket and work with Line 6 to get this resolved.

Can you please post links to the other threads? I haven't noticed them. I will highlight these to Line 6, and encourage the OPs to open support tickets to help Line 6 investigate if there's a general problem here.

What is the FS Mode of the device? ABCD or FS5-8? EDIT: After reviewing the video further I don't think there's any explanation for that behaviour even if FS Mode - FS5-8. I agree with TheRealZap. Ticket time.

Each of your info is consistent with the other. In both cases the number of posts in the Live Sound subforum is 233 (or 234, depending on the exact time of the snapshot). Perhaps the missing posts were archived recently as Zap has suggested. But it seems you are not missing anything current. If you want to see posts from other subforums you need to expand your view/filter.

You can configure your Mac to use the Pod as its soundcard when connected via USB. I am not familiar enough with the Mac world to give you the detailed procedure, but it can be done. Afterwards, all sound produced by your computer (including audio playback of backing tracks) will be heard at your Pod HD outputs (headphones or 1/4"). You can control the playback level from your computer to balance the playback volume with your guitar volume.

This is described in the Manual, in the System section, pages 6-5 and 6-6. Summary: Press and hold the Outputs / Hold for System button for 2 seconds to get to the System page. In the bottom right area of the display: Compsw (POD X3 Live only) – pick which processing block will be controlled by the Comp (Boost) footswitch. Your choices are COMP, AMP, LOOP or VERB. The manual is generally able to answer most questions. It's worth reading. ;)

Anomalies like this are usually caused by a loss of synchronicity between the HD device memory and the associated HD Edit program memory. It seems that can happen quite easily when you manually use the device itself while the Edit program is running. Were you possibly using both the device and the editor at the same time (prior to your final manual save on the Pod)? Even patch changing, or turning FX on/off, via Pod footswitch can cause anomalies like this to happen. General rule: don't touch the Pod while the editor is running.

Line 6 has been made aware of this issue. In order to help them understand the extent of the problem, and to provide them with relevant debugging info, I encourage everyone who is experiencing this problem to open a support ticket. You would also need to have any custom presets that may be used in the setup installed on your M20d. It would be best if you had a full backup of the M20d that was used at the time of the recording, as well as the recorded WAV files. I think you would also have to replicate the exact folder/file structure of the SD card that was used at the time of the recording and place the WAV files in the correct folder in your own SD card. And hopefully the required WAV file characteristics (name, perhaps other details) will survive the file transfer process from someone else through your computer to the SD card. All in all, it's not a straightforward procedure. I haven't heard of it being done, but it's probably possible. Let us know if you are successful.
