The nav pad uses four arrow-labeled keys (buttons): up/down and left/right. I mean the left key.

Having Issue With Tap Tempo In 5-8 Mode (hd Pro, Fbv Shortboard Mkii)

I would try reinstalling the HD Pro firmware. Make sure to use HD Pro Edit to back up all your setlists first. -

Is Vdi An All-digital Signal?

OK - I didn't consider the power implications. Dumb-lollipop suggestion that was! Wish it were either the first or the last.......... -
Is Vdi An All-digital Signal?
silverhead replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Have you tried an RJ-45 splitter? The VDI protocol is proprietary but the cable is standard. The splitter won't know or care what the protocol is, and the receiving POD (hopefully) won't know or care that the signal was split. Long term you will need to work around the protective housing of the VDI cable end, but short term you could just use standard RJ45 cabling from the Variax to the splitter. Worth a try? -
I have used both Reaper and Cakewalk (Sonar-light) with M20d-produced WAV files. No problem. I agree with case67 - any reasonable DAW will handle the files. But I haven't tried manipulating the WAV files in a DAW and then attempting to export them in WAV format back onto the SD card for playback through the M20d again. I doubt that would work; the M20d would likely not accept any wav files that it did not produce - but that's just my guess. Once things are in the DAW they likely have to stay there.

The advantage of the second speaker is that you will hear stereo - useful if you use any of the HD500 stereo FX. Yes, you will need a second electrical supply to the second monitor. A standard power bar will do the trick. If you only use one monitor make sure your HD500 output is summed to mono. Use the L/MONO 1/4" output from the HD500.

Thanks to both of you for the correction. I don't know where my confusion came from - I remember there used to be some behaviour like I described. Perhaps it changed in a recent firmware update, or perhaps I remember it from some beta release and didn't realize it had changed. Anyway - thanks for setting the record straight.

In order for the tunings in the preset to be applied your JTV guitar Tuning knob must be set to Standard. If it is set to any specific alternate tuning that setting overrides the stored preset.

Not that I know of.

Replacement Jack For Variax 300
silverhead replied to dethpoi's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
If you are unable to fix the jack, a replacement part is available. The plastic piece that houses the 1/4" jack and the VDI jack can be removed and replaced. It's simple - a few screws outside and a plug-type connector inside. You will also need to remove the pickguard (another few screws) to access the plug connector inside. Call Line 6 (see Contact Us at the foot of this page) and ask them to refer you to your nearest Line 6 parts supplier. They should be able to mail it to you. -
Yes - the connection will attempt to establish a power flow from your XT to your Variax guitar. If power begins to flow, the power will probably not match the voltage/type of power that the Variax is expecting to receive. This may cause internal damage to your Variax, and perhaps even to your XT. Even if there is no damage the connection certainly won't do anything useful in terms of the XT and the Variax communicating with each other. Do this at your own risk.

I understand. Can't be done on iPad, neither viewing nor editing.

Top reason for 500 over both 300/400: - flexible FX assignment. In both 300/400 you are constrained to only 1 selection from each of the FX1/2/3 slots. That means, for instance, only one of compressor, distortion, overdrive, or EQ FX in any preset. .... And there are several other good reasons.... Best bang for the buck in my opinion. If you can get a used HD500x for a similar price as a used HD500, go for the x. Top reasons for 400 over 300: - more convenient preset switching using foot switches - FX loop .... But both may leave you wishing you had spent the extra $$ PROVIDED THAT you are willing to spend some time to learn the extra complexity of the 500/x over the 300/400.

I am speaking about the HD500 connected directly, via L6 LINK, to the Stagesource speaker. You mention hooking up the stagescape; if you mean the M20d Stagescape mixer being connected to the Stagesource via L6 LINK, with the HD500 connected via analog outputs to the Stagescape mixer inputs, then that's a different story. If that's your setup, I can't explain why the Stagesource speaker mode would be changing because the HD500 mode parameter is not passed to/through the M20d via the analog input. This mode parameter is only passed via L6 LINK directly from the HD500 to the Stagesource speaker.

I'm about 99% certain that the USB Dropout issue was ONLY with the X3 Live devices. It was not a general issue with X3 Bean or Pro models. There may be isolated, independent USB issues with these models but they won't be covered under the lifetime warranty that exists for the X3 Live issue.

Good info. I hadn't heard that. Thanks for the post.

The latest Pod HD firmware includes a somewhat hidden capability to store Stagesource speaker mode in the HD500 preset/patch. However, the only way to set the speaker mode is by saving the HD500 preset; the current speaker mode at that instant is saved with the preset, and hence recalled when the preset is selected again later. The thing is..... the default setting for this parameter, in all presets, is Electric Guitar. So unless you manually save the HD500 preset when the Stagesource speaker is in a different mode setting (e.g. Reference) then every time you recall the preset the setting will be reset to Electric Guitar. Unfortunately there is no global setting for this; you need to manually save every preset that you want associated with Reference mode.

Can't be done on iPad with the Floor Pod Plus. The first device for Pod-based tone editing on iPad is the new Amplifi product.

Workbench Hd Connection Through Pods
silverhead replied to flabergaster's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I'm certainly not trying to be an apologist here. You seemed to be extrapolating form the service guy's comments, and reading into it that Line 6 does not ever intend to fix this. That may be, and you're certainly entitled to that interpretation. I was only offering another interpretation - namely that he's not trying to dance on the grave of anything; he simply really doesn't know. That's all he said. You can read into that whatever you want. . -
Workbench Hd Connection Through Pods
silverhead replied to flabergaster's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The support guy's statement was very clear and accurate: he is not aware. That's all. And that's very consistent with Line 6 policy, even internally. I wouldn't put any additional import into his response; he simply would not know if this fix were being released tomorrow. (That's not to say it will be....). -
Personally I don't see it as a replacement, primarily because it's X3 vs. HD technology. Apples to oranges from the outset.

Bass And Stagesource
silverhead replied to Masterzone's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
According to the specs posted on this website they both weigh 57.5 lbs. Seems odd to me because the L3t includes the side panel mixer while the L3m does not. Presumably it weighs something, but apparently not enough to make a difference.
