  1. Try using another usb port on your computer. Also try a different usb cable. Make sure there are no usb hubs in your setup.
  2. The HD500 can send MIDI messages as described in Appendix B of the Advanced Guide. The MIDI messages sent when you switch presets are pre-defined. However, you can assign controllers (FS1-8, etc...) to send additional MIDI messages within a preset.
  3. There is a very short audio dropout when switching presets. This is normal and usually not even noticeable unless you are playing alone and listening for it. It does become noticeable with some FX like Delay, because the delay trails are immediately cut off by switching presets. There is no master EQ.
  4. Also, the TRAILS setting only applies within a preset so that, for instance, delay trails will continue when the Delay FX is turned off. Even with TRAILS ON the trails will be cut off when you switch presets.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to do this and for sharing your results.
  6. There's a link at the top of this page (and every webpage here) to a site called Customtone. This is where Line 6 users can post their presets/tones to share with others. Select the HD500 as the product, and enter 'deftones' in the search panel. Download the tones that yopu want to try out, load them into HD500 Edit, and audition them. If you want to save them to your HD500 device, use the SEND SELECTED command in HD500 Edit. Just be aware that these tones are not 'screened' in any way. What someone else thinks sounds like deftones may not sound right to you. But often they can be good starting points for tweaking.
  7. Post your other questions in a new thread here. That way you will get the benefit of many users' ideas and opinions.
  8. When the tuner is engaged the display screen will show the current calibration in Hz/Frequency. Turn the little black knob (I think it is knob#1)to change it.
  9. Check that the tuner is set to A=440. Also check that your reference is correct (whatever it is that makes you say the HD 'sounds like D').
  10. The tuner has a calibration knob (A=440, etc.....) but it is a chromatic tuner. If you want Db, tune down from D until the display shows Db.
  11. I hope I don't earn your further wrath.... but this is where you post directly to Line 6 for product requests: http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/ .... so don't 'lose' any more of your time here.......
  12. Yes - no problem using both simultaneously. Just be sure you assign the preset Inputs appropriately to get what you want in terms of signal processing.
  13. I responded in your other thread. You generally only need to ask a question once in these forums.
  14. You would connect the JTV 1/4" output to the stompbox chain input, and the stompbox output to the HD Guitar input. Also make sure your HD preset uses Guitar as Input 1. To power the JTV you would use the battery or the VDI connection. If using the VDI you would have the option to also feed the JTV output to the HD as a second Input. If you don't want that make sure the HD preset does not use Variax or Variax Mags as an Input.
  15. Perhaps I misunderstood the question. I thought the OP wanted to know if you could connect the Mobile Keys as an input to the UX-1.
  16. No, the Mobile Keys can't be used with the UX-1. The UX-1 is an audio interface; Mobile Keys uses MIDI.
  17. Have you opened a support ticket for this? Sounds to me like it may be something Line 6 tech support needs to look at. I can't say I've ever heard any clicking with my JTV-59.
  18. The tuner on the HD500 has a Mute setting. Check the display when the tuner is engaged. One of the little knobs controls the Audio setting: Bypass or Mute.
  19. Like moondancer I have used both electric and acoustic guitar in the Guitar input along with a Variax in the VDI . For the electric guitar any feedback issues can be avoided by turning the guitars' Vol up/down as required. It's a little trickier for an acoustic that has no onboard Vol/preamp - it's best to handle that with the HD500 preset Input assignment. For presets that don't use the acoustic, remove Guitar from the Input assignment and make it just Variax.
  20. http://l6c.scdn.line6.net/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593be902d6/application/pdf/POD%20X3%20Model%20Gallery%20(%20Rev%20B%20).pdf
  21. Also try the tuner on the X3 - see if it is picking up the guitar signal. The tuner when engaged is the first thing that the incoming signal will encounter. Note that the Tuner only works with Tone 1. If the tuner can't see it the problem is likely external to the X3. If the tuner sees the signal the next check is the X3 headphones. If you don't hear anything there, problem is in the X3 - most likely an input or output setting but perhaps a hardware fault. If you hear the sound through the headphones, the next check will be the X3 outputs and downstream gear.
  22. No - the HD500 update is done over usb with Monkey, either automatically with Monkey's help or manually using the update file downloaded to your computer.
  23. I'll try to answer your questions, but in reverse order: 3) The Toe Switch is at the toe position of the pedal. You are right that it is activated by pushing the pedal to its full toe position, but then you need to press really hard at first (really hard!) to activate the switch. Once it gets broken in a bit it will get easier to activate but initially you need to really use your full body weight - you can't do it while sitting down. Stand up and press hard - you won't damage it. 2) When you activate the toe switch successfully as above you will see the EXP1 and EXP2 lights toggling on/off with each press of the switch. This is how you manually switch between them. 1) From the Signal Flow View, select the FX or Amp Block that you want assigned to one of your footswitches. Then Press and hold the ENTER button to display the Footswitch Assign screen. Use Multi-function Knob 1 to select the footswitch to which you want this FX Block assigned - choose FS1 through FS8, the EXP Toe Switch, or None to remove the Block’s assignment. (See Advanced Guide pages 3-11 and 3-12.) To set up a preset using the Wah FX, you should: - Select the Wah FX and position it in your signal chain (normally pre-amp). The Position parameter for the Wah is automatically assigned to EXP1. Check that the pedal is set to EXP1. If necessary, use Toe Switch to set it. - Check that the Wah FX is ON, and that the pedal is controlling its position as desired. If necessary, manually turn the Wah FX ON (with the Enter key in Signal Flow View or in HD Edit). - Assign the Wah FX to the EXP Toe Switch. Check that the Toe Switch turns it On and Off as desired. - Save the preset with the WAH FX either On or Off, depending on what you want its state to be when you recall the preset.
  24. I also think it sounds like a defective unit. I would return/replace it.
  25. See the 'Backup and Restore' section on page 9-6 of the M20d Advanced Guide. Setups and Scenes are saved in this process. You will find the manual under the Support tab at the top right of this page - product Manuals sub-menu.
