Have you followed Monkey's advice re: temporarily disabling some other software items on your computer?- 11 replies

I suspect the Octo Reverb mix setting of 100% may be causing the 'delay'. Try experimenting with lower Mix settings, which will permit at least some of the non-reverb-processed signal to be heard.

I didn't do that. I didn't call anyone a complainer; that was your word (I hope you won't referring to yourself). I acknowledged that some people have very real problems with their Line 6 equipment, and that's usually why they are here. I did not tell him to buy a JTV. I told him that he shouldn't extrapolate from this audience to the general population of JTV owners, and assume he would have problems. In fact I didn't give him any buy/don't buy JTV advice. You are doing that. I think he should make his own decision based on the information he has/gets. I am simply advising him on how to interpret/weigh the information and advice he is getting here, including yours and mine.

Jtv-59 2-3-4 To 1-3-5 Selector Problem
silverhead replied to Loekito's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I don't know. I suspect it's a special rather than regular switch/potentiometer. Again, I think you should open a support ticket so that you can ask this question to Line 6 directly. -

Jtv-59 2-3-4 To 1-3-5 Selector Problem
silverhead replied to Loekito's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I would have suggested that you remove the knob and push down on the shaft as a test. Since you've already done this with no success, and have already reinstalled the firmware, I think there must be a hardware problem with whatever trigger is under the shaft. I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 to resolve this. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html -
Jtv-59 As Plain Ol' Electric Guitar
silverhead replied to nikoniablue's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I find the mag pups on my JTV-59 to be excellent. To me they sound very much like what you would expect from a standard Les Paul. -
Pod Farm Ux2 Has No Audio Output
silverhead replied to wendallsan's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
It certainly sounds like a hardware failure at the outputs. Was it new when you purchased it? If so it should still be under warranty. I would open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support on this. http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html -
The bottom row of footswitches (5-8) can be used to select presets A-D in the current bank of presets. The behaviour of FS5 through FS8 is determined by the FS Mode setting on page 1 of the Setup menus. When set to ABCD these footswitches will switch presets; when set to FS5-8 they will turn FX5 through FX8 on/off. This means you cannot use FS1 to recall any preset. Using your example above, you would set your FS Mode to ABCD, then navigate to FX HEAVY Bank 8. Footswitches A through D will instantly select the associated presets in Bank 8. Use the C footswitch to select the Wham Me preset.

Remember, oleus, that this is a support forum. Most people are here because they are looking for support to help with some problem or other. It should be no surprise that you hear mostly from people who have problems here. The many, many more Variax owners who are very satisfied and do not have problems generally don't come here. I wouldn't generalize or extrapolate much based on what you hear here. Chances are very high that any Variax you purchase will be problem free. Of course, when purchasing used equipment, caveat emptor. You need to do your due diligence on the specific equipment you are looking to purchase in order to avoid ending up with a problematic guitar that someone just wants to dump.

If it's the same problem, then you should follow the instructions in this thread. The last resort is to take it in for servicing.

Was Pod 2.0 Just Discontinued?
silverhead replied to Jriend01's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
It still is listed among current products on this website. I haven't heard anything about it being discontinued. -
I strongly agree. I went with 5" studio monitors and regretted it; I wouldn't go less than 6" again. I had to repair one of the 5" monitors after blowing it with some bass guitar. I still use the 5" studio monitors for home studio work but no longer as performance monitors, even for practice.

I still play my 300 much more than that, but your point is well taken. My JTV is certainly my most-often played guitar now. The thing about my 300 is that it has a custom Warmoth neck and body and so I often play it just for the sheer pleasure of its playability. Also, when I jam with friends it often gets a workout. I stand by my claim, especially the improvement in sound quality. Not meant to be a guarantee of anything.

Pod Farm Missing License
silverhead replied to Critshazy's topic in POD Farm / POD Studio / TonePort
You also will need to run the Line 6 License Manager to activate your license and authorize your computer. -
During the download process, select 'Save File....' rather than 'Open With....'. This will place the tone file in a folder on your computer. Then do the above drag/drop.

The advantage of using the s/pdif connection is that it taps the dry signal directly from the physical input. Using the HD500 analog output(s) processes the input signal through the HD500 signal path, which you must then set up to be a 'dry' path - no amp or FX. But the signal still goes through the processing path before hitting the outputs, and involves an extra D/A conversion. The s/pdif path avoids the internal processing. Also, as you say, using the s/pdif for the dry signal allows you to simultaneously record the wet signal through the XLRs. However, there is no right or wrong; if it's working for you that's all that matters.

Workbench Hd Connection Through Pods
silverhead replied to flabergaster's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I suspect it's the Workbench HD software rather than the driver but I really don't know. In any case I agree that it is taking too long. I find myself using Workbench HD less, or not at all, because of the extra connection requirement. -
Here's how I would set it up and use it to record a dry signal from the HD500, then use the HD500 as a reamp device: Setup: - connect your Audio 6 interface to your DAW, and configure your DAW accordingly - connect your HD500 s/pdif output to your interface s/pdif input. Configure your HD500 so that the s/pdif output sends the dry signal. - connect your HD500 analog outputs to your interface analog inputs. I would use the balanced XLR connections. - do not connect your HD500 via usb to your computer Recording: - select the HD500 preset that you would like to use to monitor your sound while recording. - arm a track for recording in your DAW and select your interface's s/pdif input to record - optionally, if you also want to record the wet track arm another track (stereo) for recording and select your interface's analog inputs to record - play and record your take Reamping: - connect one of your interface's analog mono outputs to your HD500 Guitar or Aux input. Use a different channel than the one(s) being used for the HD500 analog output connections. - route the dry signal in your DAW to the analog output above for playback - select the HD500 preset that you want to use to reamp the signal, and select the Input for the preset to match your physical input above - arm a new stereo track in your DAW for recording your reamped signal. Select your interface's analog inputs to record, assuming your HD500 -> interface analog connections are still in place - tweak you HD500 preset as desired, and repeat the reamp procedure, until you are satisfied with the reamped tone. That should do it! Have fun!
