Have you tried different headphones? Maybe it's those, not the Pod, that has failed.

@GTLazer: Yes, you're right. The XLR output from the HD500 can go to the Mic input on the monitor. I forgot that the Line/Amp switch on the HD500 only applies to the 1/4" outputs; the XLR always sends a mic-level signal. Thanks for the correction.

First, set your HD500 Output switch on the top panel of the HD500 to Line (not Amp). You can use either the 1/4" L/MONO output from the HD500 (with adapter) or either of the XLR outputs from the HD500 to connect to the XLR Line (not Mic) input on your monitor. The difference is that the 14/" output will sum the signal to mono while the XLR output will not. But you can use the HD500 Mixer (per preset) to force the mono signal from the XLR output if you wish. The Line and Mic inputs on your monitor are not the same. They expect different signal levels as inputs.

If you bought it new, return it for replacement. If used, try using contact cleaner on the buttons/switches.

Try removing the Input2=MIC setting. I am going from memory here and from a different device, so this could be wrong but.... I recall using the Vocoder long ago with my Pod X3 Live. The association of the Mic to the Vocoder FX was automatic; no input assignment was required because the Vocoder is designed to use the mic input by default. I believe that by assigning Input2=MIC you are forcing the MIC input through the full signal chain, when all you want is to have the mic input used by the Vocoder FX. I think this may happen automatically. EDIT: Here's an old post I dug up to illustrate. Well, a little more info would be a good start. Like.... - what Mac computer are you using? What OS? - you mention a Toneport and a UX-2. Are they different devices? If it is a Toneport UX2 (an older device) what colour is it: black or red? - what exactly are you trying to do with your equipment? Live play, studio recording, both? - are you running Pod Farm? If so, what version? - are you using any audio recording software? If so, what program and version? - I presume you are using the equipment with a guitar? How are your various pieces of equipment connected? ... and anything else you think would be helpful for us to try to help you...? Assume we know nothing about you, your equipment, or your goals (because we don't!).

Do you mean physical connections, Tone/patch settings, or both? Does your amp have an FX Loop, and/or a rear-panel input into just the power amp section?

I am not familiar with Cubase 5. Some DAWs permit the application of plugins during recording and some do not. Even if it does, you will need to have the DAW's record monitoring feature turned on in order to hear the plugin-processed sound. And then, depending on the DAW and your computer, you may find that the latency is too high to be useful.

First thing I would check is the HD Pro Output mode. For recording it should be set to Studio.

Make sure you are running the latest firmware. I recall an issue involving phantom power that was resolved in a firmware update. I can't recall whether it was exactly this issue, but it's worth checking.

Have you run the Line 6 License Manager to authorize your computer and activate the license?

Make sure your Pod HD500 is set to Studio output mode. Set the Master Volume on the HD500 to a relatively high level and if necessary reduce the input signal level in Logic. Turn off the Input Monitoring in Logic; monitor using your KRKs or headphones.

I am not sure it's the UX2 since the noise disappears when you mute the guitar strings. Have you tried using the Pad Input on the UX2? Another guitar cable? Another guitar (just to test)?

The ASIO protocol requires that the same device (your Pod HD Pro) be used as both Input and Output device. You need to connect your speakers/monitors to the Pod outputs. Turn the monitor feature in your DAW OFF.

You could set up a preset on the HD500 for this. Just set the Inputs for the preset to be something other than Variax so that the HD500 receives no input signal. Connect the Variax 1/4" output direct to Channel 1 of the L2t side panel mixer. Adjust the Acoustic Guitar setting on this channel to taste.

Yes - both signals ride the VDI. In other words, using just the VDI connection from your JTV you can select Input1=Variax and Input2=Variax Mags in any Pod HD preset.

It can aslo handle WAV filetypes. Here's a snip from the manual: Attach a USB 2.0 hard drive here to record and play back multichannel audio sessions using the M20d’s built-in recording and playback software. You can also use USB storage to save and recall M20d Presets, or store MP3 and WAV files, which the M20d can play as backing tracks or music between sets.

Are you using a laptop computer? If so you may be experiencing a ground loop. To test, disconnect the power from your laptop and run on battery.

While in the test mode screen, select REFLASH (or FLASH). Then run Line 6 Monkey and reinstall the firmware.

In the signal flow view of the main page, select the Looper. Check the Playback Volume in the display area and adjust to maximum.

Just to elaborate on phil_m's suggestion, create a default preset that uses your favorite amp with your preferred settings, and include your favourite FX with their preferred settings. Then simply copy (ALT CTRL+drag/drop in the editor) this default preset to a desired location every time you want to create a new preset.
