  1. I wonder if it is related to this: http://line6.com/support/topic/111-make-your-variax-sound-100-better/
  2. Yes, it is recognized right away. But you can easily delete the input/icon from the stage immediately too. That will remove the channel assignment.
  3. I think this is caused by a ground loop between the HD and your computer when the usb is connected. This is quite common with a laptop. Just as a test, try running your laptop from the battery - disconnect its power supply from the wall. The noise should disappear. If so, a permanent solution would be to buy a hum-remover device. I forget exactly what they are called.
  4. Have you downloaded the latest driver for the Toneport UX1? Run Line 6 Monkey with your UX1 connected to determine whether there is a more recent driver. If there is Monkey will help you download and install it. Pay attention to when/if Monkey instructs you to disconnect your UX1.
  5. That is a very cool guitar. Looks great. Does the Bigsby arm get in the way of your Model Selector knob, visually if not mechanically?
  6. I don't think that's true. When switched to magnetic pickups, the Variax OS (it's a computer, after all) still has to be cycling and 'listening' for the command (Model Select knob depression) to instantly turn on its modelling. It's akin to having your laptop computer running and being able to repsond to your keystrokes instantly, even though you may temporarily be reading a book instead. If you want to turn off your computer completely you need to power it off (unplug the guitar cable).
  7. Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by 'all the patches sound equal'? Do you mean they all sound similarly poor (fizzy, scratchy, low volume, noisy, ....) although you can detect a basic difference when you switch patches? Or do you literally mean all patches sound exactly the same - in other words you can't tell any difference in the sound when you change patches (in this case the patch might actually sound good, but they all sound identically good). If it's the latter case (all patches actually sound identical) it could simply be that you have Tone 2 Locked, and your patches only use Tone 2. To make sure Tone 2 is unlocked, check the padlock icon in the bottom row of the Home page display; turn the little knob beneath the icon until it shows unlocked. But if it's the former case please provide more detailed information about the bad sound you are hearing.
  8. I mentioned earlier that I had installed Variax 300 electronics into a Warmoth body/neck. I really didn't like the look, feel, or playability of the original V300. Here are a couple of photos of the Warmoth - not very good lighting but you'll get the idea. A big improvement (imho) in look, feel and playability.
  9. Just new members I think - it's a good carry-over precaution from the recent spamming in the old forum. It was all done by bots that would create a new username and then go wild with spam. Current attempts to do that will be caught by the moderators.
  10. Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing your double-ended fixit in the other post and thought it was very creative. I can't say I have really noticed the artifacts, but your comments here and the previous comments make me want to try out your technique especially on the 12-string and acoustic models. Can't say when I'll get around to that but if I do I'll post my thoughts here. Interesting and simple modification in any case. Thanks.
  11. Hopefully TheRealZap's suggestion will restore the device to sanity. In terms of why this happened, I suspect it has to do with running HD Pro Edit while also running your recording program. It is likely that the HD Pro device got confused by trying to respond to two different programs over the USB connection.
  12. adding to TheRealZap's observation - I have no problem doing what you describe using an SD card with mp3 files loaded from my Windows system. Ther is only one file per song, and the M20d Media Player plays them all successfully.
  13. The old forum isn't gone - it's just read-only now. Old L6 Community Support Forums .... and, yes, I'd like to see the update soon too!
  14. It's all still there. The previous forums are available in read-only mode. Old L6 Community Support Forums
  15. I also got a Warmoth body and neck to fit the electronics of an old Variax 300. I love the playability of that guitar and it used to be my go-to. However, since I got a JTV-59 it has now become my go-to. I love the look of the JTV-59, but I also love the look of my Warmoth V300 (of course I like it - I chose it! I did not like the look or feel of the original V300). I think once the JTV-59 has had some time I will likely play both of them about 50/50 although the JTV's alternate tuning knob is very nice, and it has improvements in the interoperability with my Pod HD. Overall I am extremely satisfied with them both. My formerly go-to Les Paul Deluxe has definitely taken a rear-view seat.
