  1. I strongly doubt it. If there is you will hear it announced officially by Line 6 when they are ready to do so - they won't respond here.
  2. I would investigate the FX Send/Return levels on both devices. Perhaps some adjustments there could normalize the levels.
  3. I strongly recommend (for your purposes, and since the Line 6 gear is quite costly) that you buy a pair of active (self-powered) studio monitors like the Rockits, or a power engine like the Tech 21 you mentioned. Either of these choices will give you very good results when connected to the HD500 audio outputs.
  4. I recommend using the HD500 in Studio mode, and routing the outputs directly to powered FRFR speakers/monitors. Doesn't matter whether you use the XLR or 1/4" outputs over short distances like your home/room. No mixer required unless, of course, you want to use other instruments also. But in either case the most important element to complement the HD500 in a home setting is the monitors/speakers. Make sure they are Full Range Flat Response (FRFR) and with at least 6" speakers. If using a mixer, route the mixer outputs to these monitors/speakers. There are many options for FRFR monitors/speakers. Rockit studio monitors are a common choice among users here. I suggest you seriously consider the Line 6 L2t speaker (with built in mixer) and if you want stereo combine it with an L2m unit (no mixer). I haven't used an actual amp in my home for years. The HD500 into a pair of L3t speakers in my home studio delivers an awesome sound, even at low volumes.
  5. You'd probably be better off to start a new thread for yourself.
  6. There are probably a few ways to do this. The first one that comes to my mind is to set the pedal as controller for two amp parameters: Drive and Volume. Set the Min/Max values for each in opposition to keep overall volume level consistent. (i.e. as Drive increases, Volume decreases and vice-versa).
  7. Excellent job, toasterdude. Looks great, and plays great too I'm sure. The reason I'm sure is that I did pretty much the same thing a few years ago - bought a donor Variax 300 and transplanted the guts into a Warmoth body/neck. It sill looks and plays great - but I rarely use it any more because I have a JTV-59. Even with the Korean build the 59 plays very well (not quite as well as the Warmoth) but the added features of the JTV have made it my go-to guitar. I still make a point of playing my Warmoth V300 sometimes, and every time I do I'm reminded of what an exceptional build it is.
  8. It's clear that your VDI connection between the HD500 and the JTV is faulty. It's a hardware fault because you have recently successfully updated the firmware on both devices. It seems that you have ruled out the cable itself, and the power test that you did on the HD500 VDI outputs suggests that the JTV VDI assembly is at fault. I'm not familiar enough with the signals carried over VDI to confirm that your test of the HD500 clears it from suspicion, but I would bet that your JTV needs servicing. http://line6.com/service_centers/ Good luck.
  9. Try powering on your HD500 and let it fully boot up. Then connect the VDI cable to the HD500. Finally, connect the VDI cable to the JTV. You should hear a low-volume click as a relay switch in the JTV recognizes the HD500 and engages. Do you hear the click? Another test: In an HD500 preset make sure that Input 1 is set to Variax. Engage the tuner. Does it work?
  10. In order to send the FX Loop output directly to the DAW you need to be using a separate audio interface since that signal is not carried separately over the HD500 usb interface. So you would also need to disconnect the HD500 usb interface, and route the HD500 audio outputs to your audio interface, and pan the HD500 paths accordingly to keep the L/R channels completely separate.
  11. Here is a preset that is configured to do what you want. You can replace anything you want in the Guitar channel - just leave the overall setup and the Dry channel as is. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/217206/
  12. The HD500x Edit software should download directly from the Downloads tab at the top right of this page. Select Pod HD500X as the Product, Pod HD500X Edit as the Software, and select your OS. You should then see a page showing v2.22 as the latest version. Click the Download button to save the installer file to your computer. The run the installer file to install the program. Let us know exactly where the above procedure is failing for you.
  13. I'm not sure at exactly what point in the signal chain the Recording takes place, but it might be just following the Trim setting. Check the Trim setting on your mics to make sure a strong signal level is being received at the input.
  14. On page 3 of the Setup menus, set your Inputs Setup to Preset rather than Global. Then in each preset select your desired Input - either Variax or Variax Mags, not both.
  15. For studio recording, have you tried the HD500 itself (usb connection) with no DT25? Set the HD500 Output Mode to Studio, use the Full (not Pre) amp models, select your choice of mic/cab simulations and see if you like the results. It may not match the HD500/DT25 tone, but unless you can play that DT25 at loud volume while recording, and use a really good mic, the HD500 alone might be comparable or even preferable.
  16. I acknowledge and respect your personal opinion, but how does that translate to 'consensus here in the forum'?
  17. The symptoms point to a USB connectivity issue more than a driver issue I think. Try all USB ports on your computer (I think you've already done this, but make sure). Also make sure you are not using any USB hubs. Systematically disconnect other usb devices for test purposes to try to identify a conflict (Logitech webcams have been a frequently reported conflicting device). Here's a fairly old but still relevant document that may help: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-1484
  18. Not sure how you concluded this (can you let us know?) but I use the D-28 models regularly. I also like the acoustic Gibsons. The Martin parlour model is the only one I don't really use.
  19. I've tried drag/dropping a Setlist file and it doesn't work. You need to use the Open Setlist command and then change the Open file filter as noted by briandshelby. This should work for opening HD500 files in the HD500x. Note that it's not backwards compatible, for the DSP reasons mentioned. Also, you can get unpredictable results when drag/dropping HD500/Pro/Desktop files between devices because of the different Inputs. Best to use the file conversion utility developed and generously offered by jzab: http://www.jzab.de/content/pod-hd
  20. Also let us know what guitar you are using, and whether it uses active pickups (batteries OK?), and how close the pickups are to the strings.
  21. Check your Inputs to the preset. Try setting Input 2 to something other than SAME (e.g. set it to Aux, and don't connect anything to the Aux physical input).

  23. Like The RealZap says, the issue is the ASIO audio interface protocol - not Line 6 devices. Line 6 devices (and those of many other manufacturers) are fully ASIO-compliant. This means that only one can be used at a time with your DAW. It's an ASIO limitation - not a Line 6 issue.
  24. I'm not at all clear on what you are trying/wanting to do. Please elaborate.
  25. The HD500x chassis is the same as the HD500. The bag will fit.
