  1. IR's really make a great difference. Then add a FRFR speaker with the Helix and it's amazing. I go FOH out of the Helix and use the FRFR speaker as my monitor.
  2. Even if they extend it another couple weeks, it's worth it too. Heck I waited so long for mine I forgot I ordered it... twice, lol.
  3. I have the JTV89F and as with the other Variax's it's great with the Helix. I was in a cover band too and it was fun to see some of the looks on people's faces when they'd hear acoustics and "strats" coming out of what looks like a metal guitar. To me this guitar is the DO-ALL of all of them since it has a whammy bar if needed and can still do all the same models of guitars as the other ones (and vice-versa). It's neck is not nearly as flat and wide as an Ibanez.. I almost didn't get it because I was afraid of how wide it might be. It's not really flat at all either. More strat-like if anything.
  4. Ok, I'll try that, I'm using a JTV89F with a VDI cable. Thanks!
  5. Hi, Is there a way to set up a patch with two inputs that are different? For instance, I want the Lester 1 for path 1 and Acoustic 5 for path 2 so I can switch easier from dirt to acoustic, but whatever I set one of the Inputs to, it switches the other input also. Thanks! JPM
  6. Awesome thanks! I downloaded your IRs from last week and couldn't put the guitar down for hours after that. Crazy how inspirational an IR can be, thanks for working on them and making them available for us. JPM
  7. I'm using a JTV89 plugged in via the VDI(?) cable and want to use a talkbox. Can I put the talkbox in a loop and then set it up somehow so that when I turn that loop on it will cut the regular guitar signal? I would have the talkbox mic'd to go straight to the PA, maybe it goes back into the Helix. Need to try it tonight, but thought I'd ask incase anyone has experience. Thanks!
  8. On my Mac I can only have one of the applications open at a time. If I have the Updater open than the Helix app won't recognize the Helix. Close my Updater and re-open the Helix and viola, there it is. Maybe same on yours. HTH
  9. Awesome, thanks for the replies, can't wait to try it tonight!
  10. Hi, I read something in another post, might have been about the lag or something and someone mentioned that you can have a clean amp/set-up on one path and a dirty one on another path and then switch between them with the expression pedal. How do you do that? With the Assigns Control on the Split block? Thanks!
  11. There might be a control within the Pedal Assign area that controls the sweep of the effects pedal, like Linear and Logarithm or something like that. Seems like I ran into something similar to what you're experiencing. IIRC, Linear was the one that had the more regular sweep.
  12. A simple thing I do is use the Ubersonic (or other high output amp) and a distortion block with the expression pedal controlling the gain of the distortion. Toe down and gain at 10, it will feedback all day long. Toe up it brings the gain level down to normal distortion level, 2.2 in my case. I use that method for the Possum Kingdom solo (if you can call it a solo) and can keep the feedback coming for as long as the bassist wants to keep going with the bass riff. I can control how much it feeds back with the Expression pedal.
  13. I go to edit the Rhythm Sandman patch and when I change the volume of the second amp it changes the pitch of the guitar up? There's no indication of any tuning change within the Guitar input screens and it then keeps that tuning for any other patch I switch to. Upon reboot the guitar is tuned correctly but I can't edit the patch without the tuning issue happening again. I was hoping this was just going to happen on that patch, but when I create a new one from scratch with a two-amp set up it does the same thing. Any fix? It's about to get returned. These things that are happening should have been figured before shipping.
  14. Here's an interesting one... Some of these are just seriously bazaar.
  15. Thanks for the news! I didn't even get the car warmed up.
  16. Then she shouldn't say she's ready and make me wait in the car for another day, lol!
  17. Yes it is, in fact I upgraded to 1.01.2 (still waiting on where to find the latest one), so I know I'm connected. So what's the scoop with the Application now? Mac OSX Yosemite Thanks
  18. Version 1.00 of the Updater software is all that shows is available. When that is opened, only 1.01.2 of the firmware is available. How do we get to the new links or downloads? Thanks
  19. Any update? "Tomorrow" has been a week looking at other posts. Thanks
  20. Anybody else experiencing this? Set everything for a particular Variax model and tuning, save it, but nothing changes when changing the patches with Helix footswitches. This wasn't a problem with the HD500. I'm using a JTV 89F if that matters.
