I am trying to use a Boss RC-3 looper on a Spider IV 75 amp and the original loop sounds good, by trying to play over it or overdubbing sounds very choppy with reduced volume, Any one have any ideas or comments for me. Thanks alot.

Hey there, I have this question about the looping function on the HD500x. Don't know if this is the right place to post it but anyway.. I tried playing a bit with my looper which I'm new too. So I tried for example recording a loop in clean sound and than go over it with a metal kinda sound (this is just an example). But what my pod hd500x does is change the entire sound of what I recorded with loop to a metal sound when I select that sound. I was wondering how I can record a loop in for example clean sound and than for example record another layer with a different type of sound and so on. I hope that someone can help me out here. Thnx.

Hi, I own a POD HD500 which I use for solo gigs. I generally leave it in looper mode with an acoustic guitar so I can do solos. However, I find the looper feature restrictive in that once I get a loop going I can't change sounds (for soloing) without exiting looper mode. I also have to switch my sound back to my clean sound before going back to looper mode. This constant switching between modes means that solos are less seamless, there's always a (musical) delay at the start and end of each solo. Is there some way to program extra midi commands into the looper buttons so that when I press the "play" button, it automatically switches my sound to a different patch as well? Currently I'm considering buying an external loop pedal which seems like a waste. Andrew.

Has anyone fixed this bug yet and I am not aware of it? It is 2013 already and this still doesnt work. Ok sol I enter looper mode from the pod, I press A to record on the mkII express, try to press again to dub in....oh no it doesnt let me. So I press play and now the dub in function works, but I cant get out of it, unless I stop but oh wait now i can't play it again so I am force to start a new one, unless i sarted the whole thing in 1/2 mode..now it actually lets me stop AND play it back again so I can add more dubs, stop it again and do the whole thing again for the acclaimed unlimited dubs.....what if I want to toggle full speed for some crazy up an octave double speed effect? no, no can do, unless I toggle reverse then it will let me toggle 1/2 and full speed freely but I can't switch out of reverse... by now I am better off using the PODs buttons....

Hi there this is my first time posting on the forums and i have a simple question. I have a spider III HD 150 Head and i just got the fbv shortboard mkII and cant seem to figure out how to make the looper on function 1 to work. my question is does it even work with my amp or is there a way to make it work and how? thanks!

is it possible to assign commands to send midi using the looper switches?, i mean "UNDO" "PLAY" "REVERSE"...etc? I could not find these functions on edit's controller page... and has no way to select them .. I do not use the looper functions, i would like to assing the looper buttons to send midi messages to ableton live... Thanks... -
the HD500 Looper could attenuate the recorded signal by 6dB ... ...depending on your routing and settings. (all of this should be valid also for the POD HD Pro and bean, but NOT for the POD HD500X since its looper routing is different) The point can be summarized saying that the Looper is a "mono wet / stereo dry" fx block; you only need to be aware of this if you use the looper in "pre" position and you are one of those who think it's better to disable input-2 (for example by assigning it to variax) also, please, understand that what I'm trying to explain here is complicated so start reading only if interested, thanks to understand what I'm talking about, you need to read this post of mine and follow the signal on my graphs here: ...so, getting to the point: "the looper is a mono wet / stereo dry fx block" means that if for example you have a situation like this: - guitar connected to guitar input - Input-1: Guitar / Input-2: Variax - Looper in "pre" position - no fx - Amp Block in Path-A (path-A at unity and pan centered, Path-B muted) and you record a riff in the looper, the looped level will be 6dB less than the original signal! explanation: as a "mono wet / stereo dry fx block" the looper attenuates his inputs and sums them, then it records the result and, when playng back, sends the recorded signal to both his outputs so if you have disabled input-2, your recorded loop will have 6dB less than the original signal and will be splitted to outputs 1 & 2 of the looper, WHILE your dry signal will be present only at the output-1 of the looper now, if the first mono effect you have is in path-A, the mixed dry and -6dB looped signals from output-1 of the looper will be splitted to Left and Right channels of path-A and that mono effect will receive them at both its inputs otherwise, if the first mono effect you have is in the pre path you will hear no difference between dry and looped signals: indeed the looped signal will re-gain its lost 6dB because it will be present at both inputs of the effect (while the dry is present only on one input). so, to summarize: if you have Input-1: Guitar / Input-2: Variax and the Looper in "pre" position: 1- if the first mono effect is in path-A, it receives the dry signal at unity and the looped one at minus 6dB 2- if the first mono effect is in pre-path, it receives the dry and the looped signals both at minus 6dB consequences: This meas that, if your purpose was to have the ability to tweak your amp settings while listening to the results on the looped riff, and your amp is in path-A, you're going to get the wrong gain setting! (because you will be pushed to turn up your amp drive pot more than needed) Now, in the same situation (even while your riff is still looping), if you move your amp in "pre" position the loop will play at the same level but the dry guitar will play less distorted! solution? set both inputs to guitar (before recording the loop), and none of this problems will occur

The JM4 DESPERATELY needs an amp model for acoustic guitars. None currently give you true acoustic guitar sound like AUX does, but AUX can't be looped separately from the vocal. Turning off the amp model doesn't work either, because the acoustic still doesn't sound right in this input. Because of this, I can't even use my mic with it, which breaks my heart because the MIC features are AWESOME. This one change would make the JM4 the perfect tool for the 1-man band, which should be the target customer. We could even eliminate our mixers. How awesome would that be? One perfect little box for EVERYTHING! All we'd need is an inexpensive A/B switch between acoustic & electric guitars. HI there I own an X3 Live. -Can the X3 patches/sounds/ I have made on my X3 be imported into the HD? -Does it have bass cabs and amps? -Does the looper allow for tap tempo? -Can looper do 2 loops in separate channels on the HD like the boos loopers or would can only overdub multiple loops on same channel? Firmware v2.09 Release Notes: * Eliminated slight delay when entering Record mode. * Fixed problem with extended-ascii characters in file names. * Fixed Undo issue for recordings loaded directly from SD-Card, where the last two overdubs would be erased instead of only the most recent one. JM4 Advanced Guide: For in-depth info on features and functionality of the JM4 Looper not included in the Pilot's Handbook, check out: JM4 Advanced Manual WARNING: BACK UP YOUR FILES! The v2.09 update will erase all the internal recordings you have made. If you want to save them, use an SD card to create backups (via the TRANSFER ALL TO CARD command) then copy them from your SD card onto your PC for safe keeping (using an SD card reader). You can then reload your files using an SD card at any time after you have completed the update. The v2.09 update will erase all the custom guitar presets you have made. Here are the instructions on Saving and Loading the presets to and from the JM4: STORING PRESETS Created a User Tone and Saved it to a user location. In the SETTINGS/TONE menu, please make sure RECORDINGS SET TONE is set to ON. Made a recording with that guitar tone and save the recording to the internal memory. Do this for every preset you would like to store. In the SAVE menu, select the TRANSFER ALL TO CARD option. All of your recordings and their associated tone will be saved to the SD card. [*] LOADING PRESETS To transfer them back into the amp, go to the SAVE menu and choose the TRANSFER ALL FROM CARD option. This will load the recordings and the associated presets back onto the JM4. Now, when you load a recording that was transferred onto the JM4 from the SD Card, the preset that was stored with the recording will be loaded with the recording. It will show in the SETTINGS/TONE menu with an asterisk (*) next to the name. To store this preset back into the JM4 User presets, go to the SAVE menu and select SAVE GUITAR TONE to store the preset in the User location you desire. Instructions for updating (also attached): 1. If you haven't done so already, download the latest firmware to your computer desktop from the Line 6 website (log in with your Line 6 User Name), by going to the following link: JM4 Looper 2.09 firmware The downloaded file will be named "fw.bin", with no number. Please save this to your desktop to easily find the file once the file has been downloaded. Note: You will need to delete any previous JM4 Looper updates from your desktop prior to saving the JM4 Looper 2.09 firmware, as the device will not recognize any firmware with an extension or name alterations. 2. Copy the downloaded fw.bin file to a blank SD card via an SD card reader. When the copy is complete, put the downloaded fw.bin file in a safe place on your PC for future reference -- for example, put it in a new folder labeled 'JM4 Looper Flash', noting the version #. 3. Insert your SD card into the JM4 Looper SD card slot. 4. Press the SAVE button to display the menu items in the LCD if they aren't already displayed. 5. Turn the wheel and navigate to FIRMWARE UPGRADE at the bottom of the menu list then press Right Arrow to display the upgrade screen. 6. Press Up Arrow for YES to proceed with the update -- the JM4 Looper will update itself from the SD Card. When the update is complete, the JM4 Looper will power cycle itself. *NOTE: Do not turn off power in the middle of the update. 7. Verify the update was successful by previewing a few Songs and Drum tracks (scroll thru the list – each track will play for a few seconds when you select it). 8.After verifying the update was successful, press the SAVE button again to display the menu list. 9. Turn the wheel and navigate to FORMAT CARD then press Right Arrow to display the format screen. 10. Press Up Arrow for YES and the JM4 Looper will format the SD Card, preparing it for normal operation. 11. When formatting is complete, you're all set. If you ever want to reinstall your firmware, go back to your computer and copy the 'fw.bin' file to your SD Card, then repeat the above steps from Step 2. 12. If you want to load your backed up .WAV files into your JM4 Looper again, simply copy them from your computer into the "LINE6" folder on your SD card using your SD card reader, then load them into your JM4 Looper using the IMPORT WAV FILE FROM CARD command. (consult the JM4 Looper Advanced Guide for info on the option of viewing and loading your files via the SD Recordings Browser). If there is no LINE6 folder on the SD Card root directory, please create one. **FORMAT ALERT: If your SD Card is rejected by the JM4 Looper as not being FAT16, you should format your card and start over. See Format Instructions below. (Also attached) MAC: FORMAT SD CARD TO FAT16 1. Insert card into Mac via SD card reader 2. Name it UNTITLED (Double click on the icon on your desktop to open the drive>Right Click or CTRL Click on the Drive title and select the Rename option) 3. Application Q: How do I record from both the Guitar and Mic inputs at the same time on the JM-4 Looper? A: You can only record from either the Guitar input or the Mic/Aux input using the Record Select button on the left side of the pedal, but not both at the same time. The AUX input can be routed to be recorded in conjunction with either the Guitar input for guitar amp and effect processing, or the Mic input with the vocal processing effects by holding down the Record Select button, then selecting your routing option from the screen. Known Issues -Quick Capture = Hold the UNDO switch and then hold down REC switch (not REC + UNDO as it is silkscreened on the unit). In other words, first step on UNDO switch and keep it held down while also stepping on REC switch. -The "Clip" LED lights up upon powering up the JM-4. This is normal power-up behavior. -Some of the Artist/Song Presets from the original Spider III release were not included in the JM-4 release due to space restrictions. -The Guitar Tone Presets (70's sounds by Song Title) are simply guitar tones. They are not backing tracks. The backing tracks on the JM-4 are original compositions written and recorded by studio musicians specifically for Line 6 Spider Jam and JM-4 products. Registration & Warranty Q: How do I register my JM-4? A: You can register any Line 6 product to your account here: Registration. Q: What is the warranty on the JM-4? Q: I am noticing clipping and or popping sounds on my backing tracks? A: Some backing tracks are louder than others and may clip.
