yared_cf
Guys I need your help D: I got my HD500X yesterday, and so far I'm hating the pitch glide When I set it +1 octave up single notes sound great, but when I try to play songs like My iron lung or subterranean homesick alien, the sound is horrible, I've seen in the forum that the pitch glide is not polyphonic, but I've heard that some people were able to fix this, and I dont want to buy a Digitech Whammy just for multiple notes. Is there a way to fix this?I play a lot of radiohead, muse and U2 covers in my band, so...+1 octave up is a crucial effect :)Thanks in advance. TheRealZap
there is no fix... the pitch glide is monophonic.
ReverendLove
The HD pitch glide is an excellent tool for extreme bending in a solo. For polyphonic pitching there is nothing better than an actual Whammy V for your pedal board.
yared_cf
HmmmWell, that's sad to hear... I got this unit mainly to play muse/radiohead stuff :( At least I can use it as a MIDI controller for Guitar Rig, I love the Pitch shifter from Guitar Rig :)
ReverendLove
Oh!If you bought the HD for pitch glide only you could have spared a lot of bucks. For the style you mentioned ther is a lot of stuff like weird delays, reverbs and excellent fuzzes on the HD. daveschutt
Just a thought but can't you put 2 pitch glides in your path set one for +12 and the other to +3 for instance have them both mapped to the Exp 2 and do it that way?
scottyo78
I use the pitch glide to go down a 1/2 or whole step. It's half descent for slow songs but the faster the song tempo the worse it sounds (i.e. it can't track fast enough). -_-
stormstudios
The speed by which the Pitch Glide responds should be the FIRST thing Line 6 fixes. It's painfully slow to respond and all attempts to recreate the whammy sound like a dying duck. Please fix this FX unit. It needs to respond faster to pedal input. stumblinman
Put your amp before mixer split, and throw a pitch glide in each mixer path, bi-phonic?
stormstudios
How are you controlling it? With MIDI or with one of the Line 6 controllers? I have the Mission Engineering Pedal hooked up to it and calibrated. It is significantly late to respond. Is it completely usable with the Line 6 FBV pedal? I was judging it was a common problem based upon Scotty's comment. For me, I toe down and it takes easily a half second to hit the targetted range. yes, I have everything programmed properly. I'm well versed in all things technical that way. I'll have to test some other methods to compare than I guess.
Shanegreen4
From what i have discovered, The pitch glide works fine with over driven tones if set right - typically, its best to pitch up at about +12 up, obviously compensate for any shortcoming in your personal pedal travel.the problem im having is coming on a clean tone - Surely this should be easier for the pod to cope with as there are less overtones for it to fix? essentially for one of my band's songs it involves the pitch glide being left static up an octave to give a really glassy and spooky sound. only problem is that it doesn't track very well...Any good solutions? / Line 6 can you make a patch for this effect? If i could achieve the effect with a boss ME50 multi FX pedal i kinda feel that a unit almost three times the price should definitely be able to! stormstudios
I'm another user who can confirm it is slow to track on the pitch glide. It's unusable in a dynamic way. I control it with an expression pedal communicating through MIDI and not directly. Line 6 really needs to fix this.
TheRealZap
the pitch glide has been the same for about 7-10 years now... it is what it is... i'd recommend seeking another solution if it's important enough to you... the current pitch guide effect is unlikely to get any substantial upgrades. radatats
I use pitch glide with exp 1 in the HD500 with no real problems. Mostly I use it statically set 1 octave up or down and tie the mix to the exp pedal, 0-100%. I find it tracks very well for mono tones as one would expect but poly tones can be an issue as it isn't sure which note or harmonic to lock on to. Follows leads with no problems. Placement can be an issue. I have experienced no delays as noted above... it is what it is... Make sure where ever you are putting it is giving it a clear signal. Try placing it before extreme distortions or any delays. Edit - IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A DIGITECH WHAMMY PEDAL. However, it does what it does... stormstudios
And hence the problem with the discussion.....there are still people who are saying 'it's fine and it works' and therefore still people buying a Line 6 device for it to simulate a Digitech Whammy. It is important for us to be clear there are issues with its tracking for those reading the forum to be fully informed. I have a Whammy because the effect is a decent 'pitch shift' but it is not a 'pitch glide.' So, I understand the issue has been for years and will not get an upgrade, but the point is to be clear so that those purchasing the itemes know what they're getting into. If you want a Digitech Whammy type device this effect doesn't do it fully. That's all.

If you control with the onboard expression pedal or through a pedal attached to the Pedal 2 jack, there's no lag.
tcio
the pitch glide has been the same for about 7-10 years now... it is what it is... i'd recommend seeking another solution if it's important enough to you... the current pitch guide effect is unlikely to get any substantial upgrades. That's a shame. The HD500(X) is an amazing unit. I absolutely love the thing and I've owned a LOT of gear in my life. But that pitch glide, as well as it works for high gain rock barring chords, once you turn the gain down and start picking individual notes in a chord some horrid sounds pop out. Unacceptable even at a rehearsal. tried running one in the left channel and one in the right seeing it is mono, and then I started having some freaky panning glitches not to mention it didn't fix the problem. I really hope Line 6 reconsiders and fixes this. I had to drop a song the band was going to do or go out and buy another pedal. And I need another pedal on the floor like a hole in my head. Please consider a future fix for this issue.
BlueViolince
I use a Whammy 5 with mine, and I have FS 1-8 and the looper switch all mapped to Whammy presets. It takes a MV Osmosis and some tricky mapping, but it works. There's nothing in the multi-fx category that is as good as a Whammy 5, or another Digitech/EHX single-purpose pedal, for pitch/harmony effects. tocoprofago
Hello guys, i have a spider IV, and i wanted to use the pitch glide as a "drop tune" fx... i made some tests and even with "mix" parameter at 100%, i could hear the original pitch of the note that im playing, this happened with higher notes, with the lower notes the pitch glide seems to work fine. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks, and sorry for my poor english.
