  1. Now for the update use this link first. I have the floor model not the rack unit. So follow the instructions based upon your model http://line6.com/support/topic/19444-latest-helix-editor-211%E2%80%94dec-15-2016/ Then have the Updater update the unit. While it may not matter you could update to Firmware 2.11 first then start the process again and update to Firmware 2.12 just to follow a stepwise process. The Helix Editor is going to be 2.11 until the new release comes out. BTW - what version did your unit come with? Dennis
  2. For the Helix pedal issue follow these links. I used White Lithium grease myself and a toothpick without taking the bolt all the way out. So read all three links and pick your best choice. http://line6.com/support/topic/24143-exp-pedal-squeak-fixed-but-now/?hl=grease http://line6.com/support/topic/18575-line-6-staff-squeaky-expression-pedal-answer/?p=144718 http://line6.com/support/topic/19879-squeaky-foot-pedal-easy-fix/?hl=grease Hope this helps Dennis
  3. Could you show us a picture of your screen?
  4. Congratulations! Get ready for the ride. Just look for a out of the box preset that will be similar to what you currently use for, say, a warm up sound. Play for awhile. Next search this forum for information about settings and such. Then just go through each amp sim and create create create to your hearts content. I've been using the Helix for abut a year and find something new every week to either use to improve my settings or completely revamp. Dennis
  5. [A little history] I may be a little different in my approach. I love my tube amps of which I have several. For them I use only effects in either the FX loops or the FOA or 4CM. I used many effects over the years at the cost of about 70 pound to 110 pound floor mounted racks. Several years ago for stage efficiencies I went with the M13. I did use a Floor Pod Plus for recording and HD500X for about a minute when light weight and quick setup tear down was necessary. Fast forward and I still have my amps, the M13, and even the 110 pound floor rack of pedals. However, I have been using the Helix for about a year and find it rather effective and comparative when going FOH. It is learning curve and I am still learning thanks to the way Line 6 takes a committed approach to updating and improving this product. For me the learning curve is great because I can now virtually own tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars of gear for the cost of this one time purchase for the Line 6 Helix. [Now for your question] It will have to be a decision based upon having the expendable cash or monthly credit purchase for value versus desire. Will it provide a better and improved sound for you? I can't answer that for you. I can say it made a vast improvement for me in portability, setup time for shows, and having the ability to match song tones for cover music as well as match my signature sound by comparing my go to amp side by side with the Helix connected to a monitor cabinet as I dial in the sound. For just effects to amp I can use my M13. And sometimes for the occasional jam I just use my old Mark III or IIC+ clone and a compressor, maybe. So, will the Helix sound better than the HD500X in a side by side comparison? Hmm, I would say for me ... yes! Will sound better in your Valve Jr. I do not own one but I don't plan on putting a modeler through and amp. Other here do and they seem to really enjoy it. If you would like the cost over time approach, do you spend $100 a month on something just for pleasure, hobby, or excitement that could be channeled to the Helix purchase? If so then 18 months of intended sacrifice would provide the funds. It does sound like it is quandary for you and not a need. So good luck in your decision. Dennis
  6. [uPDATE] Line 6 support was able to replicate the issue. They are definitely working on it. So, I just want to say THANK YOU LINE 6 SUPPORT! Great team. And thanks to everyone here and the whole forum. Now we will have to be patient. (Yes I said that) :D I am positive Line 6 will identify the root cause and correct this issue. I would say let's give them more time to even release update 2.20 with all the new coding/re-coding necessary for the MIDI clock and all. Maybe this problem we are having will be fixed in this or the next update. {Don't tie me to the stake oh Line 6 Helix users} But again I am happy we in this forum can be a benefit to the company that has developed such a broad piece of equipment. I even set up a Bassman (Tweed Blues Brt) patch with just a Tube Screamer FX, a Echo-Reverb FX, and a Vol block. I used this topic for the amp settings http://line6.com/support/topic/25812-greg-koch-knows-bassman/ Then I plugged in one of my Les Pauls at rehearsal tonight and I "Still Got The Blues" Oh yea!! Dennis
  7. Once I use a patch the first time and the FX Blocks are lit, even when inactive, every patch will become problematic. What I mean is that an inactive patch will still appear inactive even after I activate the block and it is working actively. So I guess this is a quandary for Line 6 to isolate something this bizarre. When I turn off the Helix the very next time I turn it on the same thing happens during my sets. I probably should have labeled this FX Block active/inactive state problem. Dennis PS: I did send them my set-list with every individual patch as well to include the placement of the IRs I sent with a picture of the EQ, though I'm not using the EQ in an active state at this time.
  8. Once I turn the unit on and first use the switch in my first used patch it stay in this state for any and every patch. I use some 1024 IRs and have a guitar in to A(100)/B(100) routing to 2A/2B. I am wondering if it is related to the Custom name feature for naming a single FS which I do for every multi-FX block single FS latch mode situation. And once it happens all the blocks stay as they were. A wah or volume or pitch will stay in the state it was. That is if it is an off state and I use the toe switch on the pedal it still shows off but it is active through the system.
  9. I did report this but the tech said he could not reproduce it and wanted a patch. I will submit several tonight since it seems to be a set-list once I have 5 or 8 patches in ti.. However, I was also wondering how many of us have submitted this bug to support since this has been mentioned since F/W 2.10. Dennis
  10. I do not have the USB connected. This happens when I am on stage live.
  11. How many in this forum with F/W 2.12 still have the FX Blocks showing active when they are not problem? Dennis
  12. I did create a ticket with complete detail on this to make sure it wasn't already being addressed. If it is then great. If not I wanted to make sure it had a support ticket with information. Dennis
  13. I knew I read this thread a while back. And mine is even after the reboot http://line6.com/support/topic/25691-212-fx-block-issues/ Dennis
  14. OK, so here is a link that is the opposite of my issue in that the FX blocks do not light up even when they ARE working. That is once I hit the switch the ring lights up, the blocks all light up, and my multi-FX on one switch idea works. When I hit the switch again the blocks stay lit, the ring is not lit, and the multi-FX group are all turned off. http://line6.com/support/topic/25691-212-fx-block-issues/
  15. Thanks. I was actually looking for the link but it appears it has been spoken of as early as 2.11 Dennis
  16. No, but thanks for asking. Also, I am in the evacuation area in California so I may not be able to consistently reply over the next few days. But you do know what items I am taking with me, right? Hahahaha ;) Dennis
  17. Interestingly, I was building brand new Presets from scratch. I figured it was time for a new sound journey. Situation now occurring; 1) Setup patch with multiple FX blocks assigned to on footswitch in latch mode 2) Activate group by stomping on footswitch and the foot switch ring is lit 3) De-activate group, footswitch ring is not lit, but every block icon assigned is now still showing as active even though they are not 4) At this point no FX blocks show the proper state even though every FX block is working in the PA system as I play I checked every Pre-set and though it was a problem with the song list so I use a different song list and now same problem. So I use the trusty FS10+FS11 and no change. FS9+FS10 - rebuild and still problem. Thoughts? Dennis
  18. DI, LOL, yea, I was just starting the initial countdown before doing the 28 day count down till the end of February. Even then, it could be mid-March ... just adding my jovial nature to the comments! :D Dennis
  19. End of Jan to beginning of Feb count down! 4
  20. Just saw the ad! Own the Helix and get it for $99.00 .... AND new stuff in 2.20 coming soon to a Helix near you! True? If so I just did what my wife does all the time ... only for real!! I did just spend $1,500 and saved us ... hmm, $15,000 (OK maybe a little over the top but I priced the bass effects and imaged the cost of the amps ...) Tell me this is true (or at least the $99.00 part for current Helix owners and Helix Native)! :o :o Dennis B)
  21. Yep! I uninstall first as well. I even use IObit uninstaller to get everything possible that can be cleanly removed. I am sure there are other and even better uninistallers but I just add that as an extra measure for me. YMMV. Dennis
  22. Thank you very much for the demo. Very informative and very sweet sound all around.
  23. As long as the Helix absorbs the best of the HD/Pod/M-series effects and amps! B) Now how can I spend those royalty checks?
