I noticed this too. There are more reasan this could happen. I found in most cases one of the following reasons: The input is set to a different input as the one you plugged in: Change the input to multi or to the one you're using. There is an effects loop active: Just bypass all effect loops. In other cases there was a volume pedal with volume position at 0: Try to bypass the block.

This is interesting because the first thing I thought it was that the headphone output is kind of low. I have to set the phone level to about 2 o'clock to get a comfort level. And my Sennheiser HD280 are 64 Ohms. With higher Ohm Headphone it would be even lower volume I guess. From the manual I see that the Headphone output is 12 Ohms. Reading the note at page 8 of the manual it says: So you may try to use some headphones with higher impendance.

You have that option with the IR's too. That's exactly what I do. A cut at around 100Hz works well with my gear as well.

I know it's not a long term solution but have you guys tried to make a patch with 2 different sounds on different paths and assign them to the Expression Pedal? I'm doing this on my HD500 and works very well. So I can blend from a clean sound to a distorted sound without delay.

Right - I already made a post about this some time ago. Didn't want to say names though, so maby nobody cared: http://line6.com/support/topic/14742-lets-get-rid-of-this-troll/

I'm wondering what happens to all the buggy items that are sent back to Line 6? Are they shipped to the stores again? This makes me think about waiting for some months or even a year until the first unites are off the market.

I've also followed to some of this topics. To keep in mind with Fractal stuff is that they do only direct sales and usually you won't find their stuff in music stores. That's a completley different story.

You can find the manuals on this page: http://line6.com/support/manuals/helix

This is not funny at all but I guess is not the fault of the Online shop if the do not receive the ordered items, there is not much they can do about. Yesterday I found 2 shops in Germany that said helix is available. Had a look today and both shops now say it is available on 8. of January. It seems that there is a bit of confuision all over the place. It's not a problem for me since I haven't ordered yet and won't do for a while anyway but I can feel how frustrating it is to be put off from week to week.

Sometimes I use the build in parametric EQ to boost the signal of my strat. I put it on the first place and leave all paramters as they are so that the sound is not much altered. Then I pull the gain knob all the way up - or only a bit, depending on the patch. This works well as a booster. I was going to buy the duncan pickup booster but then decided not to do so. The parametrick Eq does the job for me.

It is all about communication. What people drives nuts is when there is no statement about the WHY. If Line 6 would have mad an official announcement similar to the text from Digital_Igloo that was posted above, I think that people would understand. They should add an approximatley timeframe, when they are available though. I personally prefer to wait a little longer and get a device that has good quality building and has no bugs rather than get the first run and deal with production issues and bugs. I'm sure there are some growing pains right now. I will wait for a later run anyway.

Sounds great - I like the start tones on that track.

Thanks for the reply! Fortunately tastes are different ;-). I like the sounds a lot maybe because my main guitar is a strat. Already heard your samples before :-) - they sound very good

Hi, I don't own a helix myself but I am following the forums quite a bit. I'm mostly interested in good clean sounds and classic rock sounds. In the price range of helix are quite a bit different units available and I'm also comparing with others. Always focusing on the sound. So I found this video with kemper clean sounds. I think they are pretty good and couldn't find helix examples that come close - they eighter sound to harsh or to muddy or unreal. Especially like the AC30 in the example. In the HD500 the AC30 is one of the not so good I find. So my question to the helix owners is if they are able to get such clean sounds out of the helix and maybe they have some sound examples. Anyway here is the Link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TUI5gkHBu0 Oh and I'm not bashing the helix. I like the overall concept and the fact to have a pedal which can also be used as soundcard and recording device. I think it is the most complete unit in this price range. But at this price tag it the sound has to be top-notch. Thanks a lot

Yeah I still have my HD500. Bought it as soon as it came out. As mentioned above the trick is not to always have the newest gear but to learn how to use the gear you have. Only if you feel limited in beeing creative and productive then think about changing the gear. For me it is also about dialing in the tones for myself. I have downloaded many patches from customtone in the past but only a few of them worked for my need. Most of them sound like crap with my gear. That's not always because the tone itself is bad but it was created with other gear and for other use. After all the time using the HD500 I can pretty fast achieve the tone that I want. There are some good amp simulation and some not so good but overall it is a pretty good unit. I'm also keeping an eye on the helix because there are some options that I miss in the HD500 since I have it. That is direct reamping over USB (my old X3 had that) and phantom power for the mics. But the sounds and feel of the helix has to be much better otherwise I stick with the HD500. I also get an Eleven Rack really soon to test it out. I was always interested in it and now I have the change to test it in person so I'll give it a try - just for fun.

Anyone done the treble bleed mod on JTV-69

Because I feel that the Variax sounds something different when using the VDI Cable - kind of more digital and I don't like that. I play through headphones almost all the time, I'm sure it doesn't matter when playing through a speaker. But possibly it's just me :-) -

Thanks for pointing this out. Until now I always used my Variax with the VDI into the HD500 just to power it up and for the sound I used the Jack cable. So if this is not a good Idea I might start to use the battery. Never had any problems until now though - luckily -

Yeah I'm a little old fashioned when it comes to guitars ;-) The point is that I like the guitar itself. I like the neck and it plays very well. In addition I have some furhter sound options for recording. At the time I use the modelling mainly to practice acoustic since I can't play loud very often. But I do not play live or in a regular band at the moment so it is just for fun. But I see the advantages when playing in a cover band for example. So the modelling for me is nice to have but could live without. Also it is my second guitar - my main guitar is a self assembled strat which I play most of the time. -
Thanks for the answer brue58ski but I don't want to use them togheter here - I just want to use HD500 as a Midicontroller and PlugIn the Guitar direktly to Eleven Rack with 1/4 Input.

Interesting Question. I was thinking about getting the helix but at the moment it is not available and the cost doesn't attract me at the moment. So I'm just about buying an Eleven rack because I get a pretty good deal and always wanted to try it out. I still have my HD500 and use it. Depending on how much I like the Eleven Rack I decide which one to keep. I was wondering if it would be possible to use the HD500 as a controller for the Eleven Rack? I also have the Variax but I do not use the modeling switching with the HD500 that much. I just curiouse if it would be possible to change patches on the 11r or switch single Effects on and off with the HD500 using as a controller.

Thanks for the reply. I'll better let it as it is then :-)
