  1. Yes, that statement is correct. Using the 'pre' versions of the amp models in the HD500, while linked to the DT25 does this: the HD500 processes the pre FX, the preamp of the amp model, and the post effects. Based on the L6Link setting, the information sent to the DT then tells the DT what to do. In this case, whatever the amp model in amp A in the HD500 determines the power amp settings in the DT / Bogner. These settings can be adjusted on a per patch basis, and you can pair any of the preamp models with any of the Bogner DT power amp configurations, when using the HD500 linked. I don't know specifically what editing options there are, in terms of how you reprogram the typologies and NFL settings.
  2. A side note to this: the DT has four of the HD amp models loaded onto it "as it". HOWEVER, with the most recent firmware update, you can adjust the 'onboard' amp models for use with the DT in 'stand alone' mode. The DT does NOT save any FX information - it has none of the FX that the HD has, so in that sense, no preset data is ever stored in the DT. Here is some info regarding the four default amp models loaded in the DT amps: Four unique Voicings (negative feedback loop topologies paired with HD preamp and tone stack modeling): Classic American Clean/Tight NFL British Crunch/Medium NFL Class A Chime/Zero NFL Modern, High-Gain/Resonant NFL Here is the link discussing the options that came with the most recent firmware update: http://line6.com/dtv2update/ Free v2.0 Firmware Update Available as a free download, v2.0 firmware takes your DT amp from four voicings to total flexibility. Create never-before-heard amp tones by pairing any of 30 HD preamps with any combination of dynamic topologies within Reinhold Bogner’s reconfigurable tube power amp. The dynamic topologies include four negative feedback loop options (tight, loose, zero and resonant), operating class (A/AB), power tube configuration (pentode/triode), 12AX7* (normal/boost), B+ voltage* (phase inverter high/low) and feedback capacitor* (cap X/Y). You can also configure each voicing with your choice of 12 reverbs, complete with per-channel spillover—and more. *DT50 only.
  3. Looks like certain options are being phased out? Line 6 JTV-69 - Black (No Longer Available) http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JTV69BK
  4. Wasn't sure best forum to put this in; went for the M13/M9/M5 since they show it controlling an M5 - along with three other pedals at the same time! http://www.sourceaudio.net/blog/post/source-audio-namm-countdown-2015-reflex-universal-expression-controller "simultaneously controlling 4 different effects pedals from Line 6, Eventide and Source Audio" "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the The Reflex Universal Expression Controller. The Reflex is a massively versatile and programmable expression pedal that allows its user to simultaneously send up to three standard expression or CV signals, MIDI continuous controller messages, as well as six LFO wave shapes. With the control panel you can program which outputs are active, the depth and direction of the expression signal, and the curve of the tapers. You can also assign one of its six LFO wave shapes with expression control over the LFO speed. Plus, the Reflex can save up to 128 pedal configurations, recallable via the onboard controls or external MIDI program change messages. Now that is power. The Reflex has three standard ¼†expression jacks with a separate set of DIP switches for each. This allows the user to select individual plug configurations or CV (Control Voltage) output mode to accommodate any brand of effects pedal. Reflex also includes a 5-pin MIDI output for sending MIDI CC messages and a USB port so the pedal can be used as a class compliant USB-MIDI device with any digital audio software."
  5. If I may ask, what did you end up doing? I am just now getting to a similar point with mine; though I am still on the older HD500, and the single DT25 combo. New Years G.A.S. 2015 has me wanting another DT25 combo; but I am holding off until at least after NAMM 2015, just in case.. Been reading up, and not finding a ton of info about using two DT amps, at least in terms of people who are actually doing it. I suppose the combination of steep price tag and heavy amp weight? I find the DT25 combo to be reasonably manageable in terms of weight, and it's certainly loud enough. My motivation is more to do with wanting stereo, and wanting to run two amp models and have each amp control it's own amp model settings on the HD500, IE, DT25#1 = amp model A, and DT25#2 = amp model B. But as NAMM is right around the corner, so waiting for that at least I'll know if there is some new POD, or what the latest offerings from L6 entail.
  6. Could you describe what you do in terms of L6Link configuration, specifically in terms of linking the two DT amps to the HD500? I am reading through the Link .PDF, and I think I have a good grasp. Just wondering how folks are programming / setting up their rigs. I currently use a single DT25; looking at possibly adding a second DT25 combo; for the dual amp models, and to run in stereo. If I understand it correctly, if you use two amp models, and configure the two DT's to be the left and right, the first DT will configure it's power amp according to the amp model A in the HD500 and the second DT will configure it's power amp according to the amp model B in the HD500.
  7. Ok, from what I can tell - and reading the DT link manual is confusing me more than helping me understand, what I *think* they are saying, is if you Link two DT25's (for example) and configure the HD500 to use two different amp models, and configure the HD500 link properties correctly, you essentially have 'sync' between two DT25's (channel A in each amp) and their respective amp model settings (A and B) in the HD500. It get's confusing between what the HD500 considers A and B, vs what the DT's think of as A and B. In this case, amp model A gets sent to DT25 #1 channel A, and amp model B gets sent to DT25 #2 channel A. I don't think it uses channel B in either DT25 in this scenario. The exact quote that I am going on is this: • AMP A (CH 1): Sets Channel A of the respective DT amp to “sync†to the POD HD Amp Model A. The DT amp will auto-configure its tube power amp Topology settings (Class AB/A, Voicing Mode, Pentode/Triode, and more) to match the current POD HD500 Preset’s Amp Model A. • AMP B (CH 2): Sets Channel A of the respective DT amp to “sync†to the POD HD Amp Model B. • The DT amp Channel A auto-configures its tube power amp settings to match the current POD HD Preset’s Amp Model B. " Then, just to keep me confused, they threw this is right after: • When a DT amp switches to Channel B and multiple DT amps are connected, all DT amps sync to the Channel B knob and VOICING, CLASS & PENTODE/ TRIODE settings of DT amp #1. • While two DT amps are connected, all Channel B knob & Voicing switch adjustments work in tandem between all DT amps. The Master Volume knobs remain independent on each amp. http://line6.com/support/manuals/dt50112 L6 LINK Connectivity Guide for POD HD & DT Amplifiers v2.10
  8. Ok, I just found this: "Note that two or more DT Series amps can also be connected using L6 LINK without POD HD, which provides sync of the controls on all DT amps. Please see the additional DT Series amplifier documentation for details on this type of setup" page 2.3 in the L6 LINK Connectivity Guide for POD HD & DT Amplifiers v2.10 http://line6.com/support/manuals/dt25112/
  9. yeah, I was unsure too; I also didn't know *this* little nugget of info: "Note that two or more DT Series amps can also be connected using L6 LINK without POD HD, which provides sync of the controls on all DT amps. Please see the additional DT Series amplifier documentation for details on this type of setup"
  10. http://www.strymon.net/timeline/ "full MIDI implementation and a routable, 30-second stereo looper"
  11. That's a good question.. I always wondered why Line6 made the looper mono. I found this thing; it runs in stereo, and can do patch changes via MIDI, but I don't see specific info stating that the looper portion is in stereo.. http://www.tcelectronic.com/flashback-x4-delay/
  12. Sweet!! Looks really cool; will be interesting to see how this fits into the grand scheme of things. It does guitar modeling and pickup modeling, and of course the various alternate tunings, pitch shifting and the auto-tune / tuning correction. Very intriguing.. Thanks for the info Steve!
  13. This... NAMM 2015? http://www.autotuneforguitar.com/products/products.php?category=ATG-1_Auto-Tune_for_Guitar_Floor_Processor_1
  14. Interesting, no word yet on this thing, though it's definitely "real", there are photos of the test peeps using one.. For those looking to distract themselves with G.A.S. related issues, the manual is here: http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=13067.0 http://www.snapagogo.com/uploads/source/3402014/1417989490_633926875_20141206_164018.jpg
  15. This video is *outstanding*!! Well done sir, and thank you. I have an older HD500; bought it around the time it came out, 4 years ago? Lately been looking into adding a second DT25 to run my rig with dual amp models; wasn't sure if I would be able to squeeze that in just sticking with the older HD500 since it's just the 'pre' versions of the amp models, or if I should look into upgrading - or waiting for the 'next' POD release.. Either way, this video is an excellent demonstration, that for anyone using full amp models, the 500x does offer more flexibility with that extra DSP.
  16. This is by far the best explanation I have heard for the intended use of the AMPLIFi line, well said!
  17. Would this approach work with "dual" DT amps and/or stereo DT configuration? (IE, two DT25 combos..) I don't recall how the mixer works for dual amp models. Thanks for all the work you put in on this! I downloaded that spreadsheet and printed it out, looking over the numbers now. Makes sense to think about it in terms of the poweramp side of the equation, rather than the preamp. It seems like the volume jumps are occuring when changing power amp / typology more so that with just preamp changes. This will be helpful for dialing in my single DT25 now, and if/when I add the second DT25, will help alot! I hope to do dual DT25's with two amp models in each patch, so knowing how to pair up compatible typologies will be crucial. I haven't taken the time to think it through like this before. Makes the whole thing seem a lot more clear! The preamp portions are the Line6 side, the power amp are the Bogner. This is clutch!~ It's how to pair the fewer selections of "Bogner" configurations with the larger# of "Line6" preamps. It would appear various preamp models share comparable power amp settings - this is so cool... THANKS! :)
  18. This is the closet thing I can find on IdeaScale: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Clean-piezo-signal-from-JTV/515946-23508
  19. I think being able to access the piezo signal; or at least, a 'piezo' version of the existing acoustic JTV models would be nice. It would help greatly with being able to dial in a better JTV acoustic tone using a HD500 linked to a DT25 or other DT amp.
  20. +1 to the M-Audio BX5! I have a pair of those at home. Got them on sale at Guitar Center, they were pretty inexpensive. Nice low end, they are plenty loud for home, doing some recording or playback. Nothing fancy, less $$ than KRK, maybe not in the league with more expensive 'home' 5" monitors (Yamaha HS5?) But I also run the output from the TV to those speakers, they crank. Watch movies and get those rockin.
  21. Yes! Good catch. I had that mixed up with the 1/4", which have the line / mic level switch. On a related, but slightly different topic: how does the cabinet emulation on the DT actually work? is it pulling any info from the HD500, in terms of mic model? I would guess no - I have no clue though. Seems like an effective extension of the HD XLR outs though - makes sense that the XLR outs stay mic level through out the various gear.
  22. Wow, nice! Yeah, I have the old Line6 VDI cable this all twisty and funky. I ended up buying a nicer cable from a place online, this new Line6 cable looks much better than the old one, very similar to the cable I bought from BestTronics - and probably much faster since Sweetwater takes only a day or two!
  23. With the virtual capo, the 12th fret is considered the 'nut'. -hold down the model knob until the model and tuning knobs are flashing blue -then turn the alt tuning knob to the tuning slot you want to over-write. -slowly strum all six open strings one at a time - this is telling it to drop the pitch -12 -press the model knob once to review the new tuning -if it's good press and hold the model knob to save
  24. Wow, that's gonna be interesting! It sounds like you will be able to make it work.. To a certain extent, you don't really need to do much other than Line6Link it, and start jamming. Yes, technically, you want to use the 'pre' version of the amp models, but it's not going to prevent the DT from working properly if you use full amp models. You will need to use the XLR out from the DT25 to feed the mixer / PA, not the XLR out from the HD500. Biggest difference is between 'studio direct', and the 'combo poweramp' modes. When using Line6Link to connect the HD500 to the DT25, it will automatically force the DT25 into 'combo poweramp' mode, disabling the mic modeling part of the signal. The XLR DI out from the back of the DT takes the place of the XLR out from the HD500, and it's worth noting - the DT25 XLR DI out is *MIC LEVEL* not line level. Yes, you will want to put that XLR into a standard mic channel strip, and likely will need to gain it up some, similar in gain structure to placing an SM57 or similar mic in front of the amp. The HD500 1/4" outs are swithcable between LINE and mic level, line level is a much hotter / louder signal. (I had this wrong originally, I wrote the XLR are line - the XLR out of the HD500 are mic level like the DT) Beyond that, it really comes down to how you have been using the gear currently. If you currently run your HD500 into the front 1/4" jack of a guitar amp, you might need to do some work on the patches - depending on how much of your tone programming is dedicated to compensating for the difference in tone of plugging into the front jack vs the FX return.
