Helix is supposed to emulate the cabs... 1x12, 2x12, 4x12 etc. If you have a cab let say 2x12... than u still have to emulate 1x12, 4x12 etc..... However, I really like Line 6 to come up with a setting profile for stage source... .. since Line 6 produce stagesource, it might be able to produce the perfect settings.. instead of us trying to eq and do bunch of things..

Even if there is spill over feature, it might not work with all patches as it depend on the amount of amps/effects loaded. However, I can totally sees that if one patch only uses 1 path switching to another patch that also uses 1 path only. In this way, it never loads up more than 2 paths or use more than 2 processors. Why not try to fit 2 patches into one patch.... this is like Apollo 13 problem... use the least amount of electricity with a correct combination of on/off

Got it.. I think the consensus is that bass is cut only in monitor mode. I was thinking bass is cut regardless... thanks everyone

I read somewhere the system automatically cut bass in horizontal position... is that true?

Is there a sound a difference between vertical vs horizontal position?

The Best thing is record the guitar with the looper and tweak the settings while looper is playing.... Forget the conventional wisdom and just observe how these settings affect the amp. The bad part is, looper always sound different than playing live..

I use a L2T... it sounds great with Helix in PA mode.. if you want, you can switch to amp mode.. the best part is I can use it as a acoustic guitar amp... it sounds like an acoustic amp especially with acoustic dsp... With digital connection between Helix and L2t, you don't worry about cable quality as along the cable meets the specs.

For digitech, you will be fine if only tuning down whole 1-2 whole .. anything more than that would sounds a bit artificial

I have the digitech drop as FX loop and tried the whammy... The whammy works ok when u have some distortion, cut some low eq.. and don't strum too much.... but clean or low distortion.. its very bad..... unless my machine is not working probably.... seems like others are experiencing the same thing... The digitech drop is totally clean...

Can you share your patch? Its sounds very good..

I use a Digitech shift.... works really well.. no wobble... But you can't have 2 instances of the same FX loop... ie path 1 and 2 both have the same FX loop...... that really bothers me...! The digitech shift resale price is quite good, so you can sell it once Helix has a poly shift

I can't wait until I can place it on the floor instead on a table.. I can't use the pedal right now...

I had a Pod 500.. and comparing to Helix.. Helix is far superior... even just comparing having only a single amp in the chain... if you found x3 is better.. there must be something wrong in the setting.... I output my pod and helix to L2T in PA mode....

DI, Is beta available?? Having the unit on a stand or table render the expression pedal useless.

It wouldn't be a problem if there is a meter at each amp and pedal... The Master is not a Volume control according.. but a control of Master stage distortion.. so where is the true master Volume of the power amp? It be nice to have Pre amp Vol and distortion control Power amp Vol and distortion control In this fashion, everyone is clear...

When my Helix is idle or when I am not playing... sometimes I hear the faint repetitive static "pop sound". It comes and go. But noticable right I after play sometimes..... My connection is Guitar -----Helix---- L2T. I am certain its not my L2T problem since I can hear it from my headphones. When the reptitive noise comes back, its there even I disconnect my guitar. If I kill the Helix volume, its gone. But its back when I turn the vol. back up.. Could it be the transformer / power supply problem? I have uploaded the audio recording from the speaker..... I run into a problem where I can;t place the same FX loop in Path 1 and 2. I have a Digitech Drop and I want to use in both chain. I know I can split path 1 into 2 or 1a and 1b... but I hit DSP limit. Here is the simplified diagram. Path 1: FX loop 1 ----- Amp -----delay----- ------output Path 2: FX loop 1-------Amp-----distortion-------output

Please advice: 1) Connection between Helix and stagesource speakers. 2) Settings in Helix. Global eq needed? I connect between them using 1/4", leaving all L2T preamp eq flat and selected PA mode. Helix is set to line out. However, I find there are some harsh high frequency that is hard to get rid of. it sounds wonderful with acoustic guitar and regular audio input.

Any idea on the best setting for physical Volume nob, levels, etc. In PODHD, the manual says the best setting for signal to noise is to set to max on vol. But this info is missed out.

I like to ask again.. anyone compare third party IR vs Helix Cab? ... forget about Pod HD...

1) Helix randomly freeze when I create patches from scratch.. like adding stomp boxes or amps. Don't know if there is a particular pattern or happens only with certain amp and stomps. 2) Sometimes, even let say I select 57 mic and later on change to 409 and save the preset... sometimes, the preset has 57 mic sound even its using 409.

The reality is every Helix message board has turned into Axe / Kemper vs Helix... Just as media create the "apple vs Android" No matter what.. No one wants to admit their 3000+ equipment is matched by a $1500 product... Remember those android post.. "my Oct core processor got to .. has to be faster than iphone 2 cores"

Anyone compare Helix cabs vs third party cabs?

1) What is the unit gain setting? Helix has Vol control on the front panel, channel vol and mixer level..... 2) I use Helix with a L2T. Should it sound better with 1/4" or line 6 link cable?

I have the Helix since Friday.... Compare to real amps that I have used (Fender, Marshall JCM and Orange), its very close. The biggest diff is I use L2T so I get the mic sound. I don't need amp in the room sound. But if you decide Helix is not as good as others for whatever reason already, you probbaly won't like it even it sounds the same side by side. To me... it sounds very similar to Axe FX2 (with my little experience ). There are so many very bad recordings of axe fx on youtube too. With its smart routing.. you probbaly won't run into DSP problems unless... unless.... u need 2 complete separate routings with some very heavy demand effects such as pitch shift and spring 63 reverb on both routes. I am able to create some very complicated U2 sounds with plenty of DSP power left. For me, the selection of amps and pedals are enough as I have the tools to shape the sound to replace the missing pedals or amps... getting close I imagine. But afterall, the ability to edit your patch on stage is a dream. I have used almost all multi effects units in the past few yrs. .(returned, sold, borrowed..)....none can be compared to Helix in terms "total stage control". I can edit the stomp boxes even standing up... But if you are one of the those that needs an amp not included in Helix and can't live without it.. buy something else. Its quite simple...
