Still looking for this major... Only found Sergeant Major, 7th ESB...
-
To DI: I am - astonished ;)
-
A dominant ;)
-
Forgot to mention: I love my JTV and never had such probs. But - almost every guitar has its 'neuralgic zone' ;)
-
LOL - besides, who is Major 7th?!
-
Latest firmware?! Check your tuner settings (p 31 in the manual) and the string offsets - if your helix has the latest firmware, your tuner settings are not 'chaosed' and your guitar is set up well it will work ;)
-
Very spooky... Maybe you should post it here: http://line6.com/support/forum/39-james-tyler-variax-guitars-workbench-hd/ Connected via VDI? Battery in or out?! Power spikes ('EMPs' for all Matrix fans) certainly can lead to all kind of strange effects - but I guess that your JTV has a slack joint prob at least...

...and every set of speakers 'in my experience they ALL tend to do something to the sound', too... Dumb answer alert - from pro-audio veteran Meanwhile I'm working with many different kinds of speakers and headphones - and to me they all sound: different (in the first place). Seems to be a trivial insight, but I'm not looking for 'the one and only' set of headphones anymore, which don't exist anyway! I learned that it is necessary to compare sounds with different hardware setups to gradually lose that 'sound confusion'! Of course there are big differences between hifi / studio / reference headphones (not only the price ;)). For example, headphones (and speakers) with a more linear frequency response shouldn't sound just 'good'; they should sound (guess what) linearly - and then they do their job well! Furthermore you have to become familiar with 'hearing linear' - and that takes time and 'ear training'... So if something sounds harsh or treble boosted it doesn't mean automatically that your headphones are bad; maybe they are doing their job really well?! As my wise old zen master Klango Maleri said once: 'There is that difference between hearing and listening that can be explored with your ears, brain and heart'

I guess that you have to catch up on the audio routing (possibilities of your Helix)... My strong assumption is that you have build kind of a feedback or 'unwanted loop effect' that leads to a (unwanted) click sound. Please describe what goes wrong with the click - and how it sounds. If it has nothing to do with the tempo of your backing track, than you maybe have created digital artefacts... Your Helix works as a 'soundcard' (I/O interface), did you notice that ;)

Ahh, well - I see... Guess we all misinterpreted the frequently quoted remark: "Then the stupid fun begins"... Seems this was more like an anticipation of an inner disorientation

Thanks, DI - this was a very revealing information. Very tangible indeed... :P

Need USB Interface
klangmaler replied to musicimpossible's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Vote and hope ;) : http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/JTV-Variax-Workbench-HD-using-Helix-VDI-as-interface/789597-23508 -
Even Bluetooth 10 wouldn't work with the current Helix ;)

Beating a dead horse? Yes.

Sometimes it might be helpful to visit the 'neighbourhood' ;) http://line6.com/support/forum/23-dt50-dt25/ http://line6.com/support/topic/14267-helix-and-the-dt-amps/

Yep - except settings (global settings)... It's always a good idea to backup your setlists, anyway ;) And the IRs will be saved 'unsorted' (without order / numbering).
-
There are already several threads dealing with this, for example: http://line6.com/support/topic/17047-noticeable-delay-when-switching-patches/?hl=latency

Please vote up this idea - IRs - Import & Export automatic Number
klangmaler posted a topic in Helix
This should make the IRs import / export and backup function(s) easier: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Impulse-Responses-IR-Import-Export-automatic-Number/806973-23508 -
Maybe this decision was made because these small jacks are not stable / robust enough?! Anyway, you can still use sth. like http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CMP153 and your'e done ;)

I don't think that these IR 'legal worries' are really of further interest, BUT: This is something that bothered me... Thank you, amsdenj - an important explanation! All these attempts to 'build a guitar out of another one' or to 'model guitars via using IRs' are a bit more tricky than some guys might dream of... ;)
-
Last night I had a subtle hum sound on my headphones and it took me quite a while to assign it correctly. Guess what it was ;) So the hum parameter is 'hidden tricky'...
