  1. This is a mixed signal device, so whoever does the work will have to know about grounding a mixed signal circuitry or there may be problems.
  2. Yes, don't tinker with the electronics. Be careful when undoing the pick-ups, the adjusting springs can pop loose and get lost. Make certain that when remounting the hardware to the pick-guard that it's snug to the foil underneath or you will lose the shielding, and hum and other radiant noises will occur. That said, make certain that the pick-guard has the foil underneath. An option would be to get the Tortoise shell pick-guard from Line 6, special order through Full Compass. You will need to specify whether it is a JTV-69 (HSS) or JTV-69S (SSS).
  3. Use pick-ups with a DCR spec of between 6k to 8k Ohms. Yes, his custom wounds are pretty good. Had chats with him about that at the trade shows.
  4. That would depend on their ability. These are not the usual routine guitars with passive electronics. One slip and it will end up on my bench,... even for what may seem to be an easy job. https://line6.com/find/service_center/ ... for the authorized service center in your area. Check the sub-heading pull down menu for those that also do our guitars.
  5. What phil_m said. With CoVid and Trade squabbles, distribution flows good one week, slowed down the next. And retailers might have it in stock or order it special for you.
  6. Yes, "C",... that's the correct speaker output for the DT50-212. Because of how the two speakers are wired.
  7. Check with Support on old Variax with Helix. Being the age difference in these two, I've heard mixed info. Some have no problems, others some. Check the force/don't force patch on the Helix. If it's in Force mode, the Helix decides or "forces" the preset onto the Variax, in 'don't Force' mode, the Variax decides on what Model it uses. 600 is a 15 year old (pre dating my time here at Line 6), pre HD product, while JTV, Standard and Shuriken are current with the HD series, and so made to be compatible. Don't know off-hand how backwards compatible the Helix is with older Variax, but I know it was considered in the Helix functions.
  8. Get with Line 6 Support and see about sending it to Line 6. My lab mate is really good at dealing with DT25's.
  9. Cotton swab, drip it into the piezo/saddle, blow out with canned air. If it's still a problem, then it may need servicing.
  10. This works with piezo/saddles. The saddle is the chassis ground, debris can get in and create intermittent grounding. Cotton swab, drip it in, then blow it out with canned air. If it's still a problem, then it may need servicing.
  11. Also, check out my posting on vacuum tubes here,...
  12. Pick up swaps,... 1) No active pick-ups, voltage is not compatible with the variax system. 2) Pick-up DCR spec should be between 6k to 8k Ohms, or the EQ tone will sound different. Keep the DCR in that range.
  13. Should be fine. As the others have said, it's a set-up thing. The 59 does seem to be like the Les Paul, and the set-up feel is similar. Rock-n-roll!!!
  14. There is a Gm and Ip number on the tube labeling. The Gm has to be the same on both and the Ip has to be the same on both, then they are matched. Would've been easier to take it to the Line 6 authorized shop and let them order the tubes from us. Sorry it was such a problem for you.
  15. Has to be the HD version of Workbench for the Shuriken.
  16. Use the real thing. Li-Ion is not something to be messing with cheap knock-off. Had nothing but problems with those. Think, does iDevices from Samsung and Apple going smokey in peoples pockets ring a bell? Not to mention that dive boat that went up in flames off the California coast from iDevices being charged. They are cheap for a reason. Don't go there.
  17. No more parts I'm afraid. We stopped fixing those a while ago. Spider III was phased out around 2007/2008. If the board is burned or traces damaged, then it's a lost cause.
  18. White goes to +, black goes to - .
  19. There should be some good tips on that in the manual. There's this Forum and also a Facebook group for Vaiax users to consider. From Facebook, people post links to other resources. With Workbench HD, in many ways, it's like building a guitar room "almost" scratch. Lots of time means lots of stuff to explore. Enjoy the explorations.
  20. This is not your normal guitar with passive electronics. Should not be attempted without significant experience at this sort of thing. Done my share of mods here, so I know. Good staring point would be the Forum Knowledge Base here. Line 6 does not support mods that alter the function of the guitar. Should you get in over your head, and the guitar sent to me here at Line 6, I would be limited in what they would allow me to do to it here. Just want you to know what's involved before you go diving in. Some general guitar aspect will apply, after that you're in a whole other world of active electronics for guitars. I can't walk you through it, but I can point out the pitfalls of doing mods on these. Info on guitar mods, lots. Info on mods for these,... different story. And not all the advice is good. Some here do know their stuff though.
  21. Get with Line 6 Customer Support to see what your options are.
