  1. GK-3 should fit without removing the pick-up. Same for the Triple Play. Have had different types of Variaxes come across my bench with these fitted on them, and it hasn't been a problem.
  2. Correct es345tds,... programming is one thing, playing through it is something else. Just had one on my bench a week or two ago, took out the main board and the battery box circuits because of that.
  3. What amsdenj said,... drip some isopropyl alcohol onto the saddle with a cotton swab, then blow it out with canned air. -Being that it's just two strings, could be set-up. -If you do string pulls a lot, the nut slots for those strings may be wearing. -Could be something deeper, for that, it should be serviced at a Line 6 authorized service center. And for that, log a support ticket in your account. Dates of your guitar,... it's probably due for some servicing to it.
  4. Pick-ups should be in the correct phases, and should have DC/Bulk Resistance specification of between 6k-Ohms to 8k-Ohms, or the tone EQ may be either too dark and deep, or too light and thin.
  5. 1) Thru the amp, chances are it's dual tone effect. Hearing the strings in standard tuning and Alt Tune through the amp at the same time. 3) If there was a previous owner of the guitar, they might have modified it. If you're the original owner, then it not relevant. 6) Intonation and tuning go to the guitar set-up. If it isn't spot on and dialed-in, slight overtone differences can be exaggerated when using Alt Tunes. And coming out of the amp with dual tone affect, it's even more so. 7) Being the guy at Line 6 that services and repairs guitars, it sounds like a good idea to have a maintenance check every now and again.
  6. If the mp3 of the JTV-69 is recorded direct and not thru an amp,.... -If it's strung for left handed playing. -If the previous owner tampered with the way the piezos are wired. -Distance of pick-ups to the strings inducing warbling. -What is the Flash firmware version? -Intonation and tuning has to be spot on, or frequency artifacts can occur. -Being an earlier batch, it's probably long over due for a maintenance check.
  7. " For me it sounds like as if the physical tuning and the modeled tuning is being played. "--- Correct. It's called the "Dual Tone Effect", hearing the strings in standard tune while hearing the Alt Tune coming out of the amp. Typical solution is to turn the amp up until it's louder than what you are getting from the strings. Or using headphones. I it does it when using headphones, then the guitar may need the set-up adjusted. Tuning and intonation may need to be dialed-in a little closer. Also the pick-ups have to be at the specified distance from the strings or warbling can occur. And with piezos you can hear it more, and with Alt Tune engaged, warbling get worse. ---Things to be aware of. Thanks arislaf.
  8. Hmmm, I should check again on that bleeder cap. I know the orange chicklets are popular, Stew-Mac sells the real thing by the handful. One of my guitars with separate tone control uses the bleed cap wiring, works good.
  9. Problem with the interface cable between the control board and program board, or the program board itself. Either way, needs to be serviced at a Line 6 authorized service center.
  10. James Tyler likes Duncan pick-ups, so the JTV pick-ups are modeled and spec'd after those. And of course the pot and capacitor circuit in a guitar in general, will determine the tone color (EQ) of the sound.
  11. Haven't come across any yet on the Standard, or the JTV-69 either.
  12. No problem arislaf. BTW,... I was pushing for that 59 pick-up when they were deciding that, as it has more bite and good specs for a bridge pick-up. It's closer to a Seymour Duncan humbucker that James Tyler likes. Have had chats with Duncan at the trade shows about the comparisons of specs on that.
  13. Pick-up in the Shuriken SR250 is the same as the bridge pick-up in the JTV-59. Aside from that, arilaf is correct about the other stuff.
  14. Yes, though easier on a 89/89F than a 69/69S, may need some soldering with a 69. Sounds like there may be more to it than just the jack plate, which is why I recommended a service center.
  15. Could be the digital program board. Going that long without a tube change,... may be a volt pull down somewhere. You've gone as far as you can go. Needs to be serviced by a Line 6 authorized service center.
  16. Yes, and it's a "medium", so that one is fine.
  17. So I shouldn't use a 12AU7 for the pre-amp or inverter as is indicated below? --- Correct. The digital section and the analog section must talk nice to each other or problems will occur. These are not "all analog" amps, and are not forgiving with mods or deviations. Use the specified tube for the specified amps.
  18. Two things with the 1/4" jack that it could be. Would need a Line 6 authorized service center tech. If the volume and tone controls are loose, carefully pull up the knobs and tighten down the retainer nuts. Before with the alignment or the Model knob might hang up. Foil under the pick guard contacting the casing of the potentiometers is part of the chassis ground. If it still acts up, then it's a deeper issue and needs a Line 6 authorized service center tech. Line 6 authorized service center tech has access to service info and me for more detailed deep dive stuff. And judging by your serial number, it's time for it's 50,000 mile check-up, and maybe round some worn frets. Contact Line 6 Support, they will let you know what the options are on that.
  19. Don't do it yourself, have a guitar tech do it, preferably a Line 6 authorized service center.
  20. Not a good idea. Know a number of people who plugged into something else and damaged the internal supply circuit. It would not be a "supported use" should it get damaged.
  21. 1) You can adjust the saddles with the screws. It is all about balance and tension. Though best to take it to a Line 6 authorized service center to have the set-up adjusted. 2) It's probably the piezo wire. It can be damaged, but that is rare, I have only seen two come across my repair bench so far. Just be careful, or better yet, let the service center deal with it.
  22. US ones are hand crafted here in California by one of Tyler's people.
