The VDI Ethercon is for connecting Variax guitars. The foot controller to the rack, use CAT5 or CAT5e.

Tremolo FX does not work until you tap the FX button

Log a support ticket in your account. It is not a user fixable problem. Needs to be serviced by an authorized Line 6 service center. -
Shouldn't make a difference, though you can try it.

Oh and, Tom Scholz used a tricked out gold top Les Paul with soap bar pick-ups. A gadget nut back then.
-
" I'm thinking that may have been Alan Parsons that stumbled on that one though. "--- Sort of. There was a guy at EMI Hayes (Abbey Road Studios and EMI Hayes are part of EMI back then) who came up with stuff. The Beatles would go to him with gadget ideas and he would have something for them within 48-hours. Him and Mr Parsons' working in the Pink Floyd and post Beatles and Abbey Road Studios days for him, is what did it for Mr Parsons. He always was into innovative audio even back then. Have had interesting brief chats with him about his Abbey Road days and his techniques. Interesting fellow.

Needs to go to a Line 6 authorized service center for a check out. May need fresh tubes and a proper biasing. And a check-out to be certain that any old tubes didn't have an adverse affect on anything else.

Got lucky, most people who put in Mesa blow the amp within the 6 or 7 weeks. They're mediums, the ones that we get. I'll be at the trade show this weekend, and I visit and chat with all the tube tube people each year. The problem you have tough, will require Line 6 authorized servicing. It's not just the tubes. The way the fuse blows and serial number tell me other things that make it a "none self repair". Only a Line 6 authorized service center. There are three in your area. https://line6.com/find/service_center/ There are parts that will be needed that can't be had through Full Compass, an authorized service center is needed for that.

How long since the last power tube change out?
-
Properly biased stock tubes are a must. The tube section and digital processor section have to talk nice to one another. Using Mesa tubes messes with that. Don't mess with anymore fuses. Log a Support ticket. It may or may not be fixable. It needs to be evaluated by a Line 6 authorized service center.

Not meant to be humor, just an analogy. Didn't want him wasting time and energy on search. Having worked on a number of those, I know at what point, when it's time to let it go. And I'm not a tech that gives in, yet I know when it's time to fish or cut bait, as the saying goes. If there's a unit on eBay to use, or take parts from, then that's an option. Hope that works.

Even Superman couldn't save everyone.

Sorry to say then, if it's what I think it is, then it's a lost cause. Schematics not available and it won't help.

" ... audio consoles used are going to have phantom assignable on a per channel strip basis. "--- correct. Truly professional grade recording/mixing consoles have individual channel enabling of phantom power. Global phantom power is one step down from professional grade.

5 Way switch not working (Variax mode only)

Intermittent connection under the pick-guard. Needs to be serviced. Log a Support Ticket in your account and check for the Line6 authorized service center in your area. There is also Mark Wright Music in Northampton. Mark used to be my opposite number when there was a Line 6 in Rugby. He knows this gear well. Good tech, good mate. -
" So how come that web page says that the cable works and that the Line 6 Monkey and Variax Workbench recognize the Variax? "--- 1) He is talking about old Variax, going to MIDI, and MIDI boxes are active devices. He doesn't just use a cable. 2) The correct interface set up for JTV is an active device, which is required to get it to work. There are no short cuts in this.
-
What phil_m said. To correct micah,... my prior post stands, since I'm the guy that does Shuriken (JTV and other guitar) repairs here at Line 6. Log a Support ticket and they will fill you in on your options.

There are things to be doe to the new board before you can make use of it. Another reason for this to be serviced by an authorized service center. -

What ever you choose, make certain the DC/bulk resistance spec is between 6k-Ohm and 8K-Ohm, or the tone color will change, and it will have a different sound to it. -
Advanced manual for Variax 300?
psarkissian replied to RobLewis's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
No advanced guides for that. You may be thinking of the Workbench app,... https://line6.com/software/ 300 Electric I presume, for the alt tunings? -
Where is the Workbench software download?
psarkissian replied to jbernard54's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Yes, for your guitar, it's Workbench HD. -

Re-Flash would also not be possible if the unit is not registered in the account. It would come up on the Line 6 Monkey as an "invalid device". -
