  1. Probably this.... new option under software on the downloads page.
  2. IMO... there will not be a successor to the Helix, just another addition to the HX line. When nobody expects it they are simply going to come out with a new model... "HX <insert clever name here>" with all the features the masses keep asking for. Touchscreen, smaller form factor, more horsepower, etc... etc.... They've been releasing scaled back versions of the Helix regularly... HX Effects, HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL and now the HX One. Eventually there will be a "ramped up" model.
  3. I believe the Helix LT was the last device to get a VDI input and integration... with official word finally coming down I suspect that's the last VDI port we'll ever see. Both my Variax guitars are going strong.... a 1st Gen 300 and a JTV 69, both with replacements necks. Neither is my primary guitar but I have no intent in getting rid of them due to this news.
  4. I logged in with a little used Gmail account... but when it insisted on a phone verification (my phone number) I exited and will not return.
  5. I have no inside knowledge but I suspect the HX One FLUX option will be included on the next Helix/HX update. The infrastructure is already in place - and the coding has already been figured out for the HX One.
  6. As far as I know, Line 6 has never "removed" an existing model with an update. Everything is there, you just need to find it. Do you see where it says "Mono" above the models? Change that to LEGACY and you will find your "Heavy DIST" pedal. Repeat the process for any other effects you think may be missing.
  7. Probably because the amps themselves did not have that option. Did Line 6 remove the bright caps from the amps they modeled? If not... they are there - as intended by Marshall from that era and model.
  8. The only way to achieve a stereo return is to use both returns on the HX Effects. Option One - Stereo Loop using one block Use a Y cable to output Send 1/2 to a single mono input, or just try using one of the sends to see if you have enough signal. The other send is still getting the same signal, so it cannot be repurposed. Option Two - Using two blocks Insert a MONO Send (1 or 2) to send to the effect Insert a STEREO RETURN This option uses more blocks, but still leaves the other SEND open to use for something ese.
  9. I read that when it first came out... it's a must read article but I do have one issue with it. In his section about "P.A Speaker", he is clearly describing "BUDGET P.A Speakers" but forgot to include the word BUDGET. The final delivery of most modelers is via FOH (P.A Speakers) to the audience. When you buy quality for stage use, it is the ultimate of FRFR's not a compromise to one.
  10. I have little interest in moving air for my own enjoyment. I like to hear great tone mixed nicely with the others in the band - and let the FOH move the air. Modeling and full range monitoring accomplishes exactly what I enjoy most. Nothing against the traditional cab approach... it's all good. Just not for me.
  11. Sadly.... they cannot ship to Canada. Line 6 will not ship to Canada Long & McQuade does not have any... Yamaha Canada has promised me a battery for several months, but claim they cannot get stock from Line 6. @psarkissian... If Line 6 cannot provide stock... L6 should at least open up the agreements so we can buy from other countries! This STINKS!
  12. I prefer a good full range speaker (ie: FRFR) over a traditional cab, but I'm also a multi-instrumentalist that requires full range on some of my presets (acoustic, dobro, mandolin, banjo, etc..). A good powered monitor works great for me. QSC, Yamaha, Yorkville (Canada), etc.... My personal monitor for my Helix is a Cerwin Vega, but I only use it when the stage monitors are not up to quality. If I were to buy a marketed FRFR (not just a stage monitor), I'd go to the Line 6 Powercab or one of the new Fenders.
  13. Well... I'm not interested in a touch screen or a mobile app and my lower cost LT already has the Variax input. I'll need to see something more enticing. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the next firmware update. You can already assign parameter changes to any footswitch and make that switch latch or momentary. They just need to add in the transition options that "flux" includes. I use my external expression pedal for such changes, so it's already a manual "flux" control.
  14. For it's capabilities, the price is just fine. It's not much different than a single high end pedal and the usage is up to your needs/imagination. Need a Drop pedal on one song.... got it Need to do a simple synth line on that cars tune... got it Need a rotary effect that can ramp up... got it Need a tremolo for a tune... got it Need a chorus for that one tears for fears song you do... got it Need a phase for that Waylon tune... got it .... you get the point I am sure it is going to find a nice home on many pedal boards.
  15. Have you eliminated the power supply as the potential problem for the dead unit? You say you have a "working Stomp" so you obviously have a 2nd power supply to try. Failing that, ^^^ this ^^^
  16. I suspect the previous owner probably fried the board when attempting to change a broken USB connector. If the USB connector potentially caused the problem, simply remove it completely and make sure none of the leads are shorting with each other. I doubt the HX Stomp needs the USB connector to start... and that would eliminate that as a potential problem. If it still momentarily flashes... the USB had nothing to do with it. I hope you bought it for dirt cheap... knowing it didn't work.
  17. Do you know what you want? Have you made a check list of the features you need, and the features you would like - then compared them to see what's missing in the Helix?
  18. FRFR vs AITR ... The discussion shouldn't be a debate... it's just a preference. When someone doesn't understand the FRFR concept it will never work, and once someone does understand the concept it "may or may not" work for them. No right, no wrong! FWIW... In my beginning years of touring I was taught to listen to my amp through my monitor mix and side fills. This fundamentally changed how I would set my amp, and I started delivering far better tones to the FOH for the people to hear. Even with an amp on stage, I was already listening to the equivalent of an FRFR. This made the evolution to modeling and FRFR seamless for me. That's what works for me... I do not insist that it would work for everyone. ^^^^ I really can't say it any better than this! ^^^^
  19. In workbench, set the tone resistance to 1M and set the capacitance to 1.1nF That value almost nullifies the tone control, but leaves it open as a controller on the Helix.
  20. I would love an input level control... but I quickly found a work around that works fine for me. Every one of my presets has a GAIN block in the first position for this very purpose. It may not work well for those that utilize the "auto impedance" feature, but I always use a fixed impedance so it doesn't affect me.
  21. In this example... if the rhythms sound fine then the "scream 808" should give you the basis for the lead.. but be careful of the settings. You don't often want to add more dirt with a tube screamer, you want to hit the amp a little harder. Keep the gain levels low on the 808 and dial back the tone control to get a creamy lead tone while adjusting the level to keep the volume a little louder than when it is off. The end result when engaging a tube screamer should be a thicker/richer mid range (great for leads) that doesn't wander too far away from the core amp tone.
  22. IMO, the cab blocks were the weakest link in the Helix. The result was many people resorting to steep high cuts & radical EQ settings, or simply finding some IR's they preferred - which is what I did. The new cabs are a huge improvement.... again, IMO!
  23. I agree... but the OP asked for a way to do it.
  24. Try doing it via command center & midi, providing you are not using midi for something else already. Place a midi cable between the midi In/Out... creating a loop. Set "Global > Midi Temp > Rx MIDI Clock to OFF and Set "Global > Midi Temp > MIDI PC Rx to OFF Set a stomp pedal to the midi command that engages the tuner (I think it's CC#68, but you should verify that) Side benefit... this uses a footswitch, but not a block! I do a lot of stuff like this with my Helix LT... I haven't tried it with my Stomp, but it should work.
  25. IMO.... global EQ should not be part of your sound. I'd recommend keeping it off, and save it for those times it is the only solution... even then, it should only be temporary.
