  1. Yay, so, will you be using it with a POD? Variax? Etc.
  2. Check the switch on the front is on direct rather than amp...
  3. No, they drop from like £600 to £250! Big shame as they are great amps. I’ve seen one in St Albans but I’m guessing that’s too far? Not too much petrol from where you are though...
  4. I have a back up of my pod as bundles and individual presets (of my main patches). You never know if the pod will die or I might save summint in the wrong place... And then I can play with patches knowing I have a copy. To be fair I have 2 banks for gigging, one direct and one dual path, and I don’t generally play with those. If I tweak anything I save it to one of the other banks.
  5. The presets model how you might set up a signal chain. No reason why you shouldn’t experiment.
  6. I would just save them next to each other so you can ‘a/b’ before deciding. Make you you back up a copy of patch b though Bette you overwrite it!
  7. They usually have them at Anderson’s in Guildford. That’s where I got mine. Ok I bought new but they have had / can get 2nd hand if that’s what you want...
  8. If you have a new pod you usually have to press REALLY hard to switch from Exp 1 to 2
  9. There are a few on eBay at the moment...
  10. Depends what you are looking to do. If you play an acoustic guitar through that set up it probably won’t sound great. The electric sounds should sound good though...
  11. As far as I am aware it can. You do the routing on the mixer page in Line 6 Edit. Just use left and right as your two paths.
  12. As I usually need my POD more than the length of the power cable away from a socket I fashioned an extension from parts from Maplin/Radio Shak. This is taped to my L6 lead so I always know where the ends of either are - and my POD/ amp are plugged in in the same vicinity. If you have a problem you only have to replace the male or female connector. And you can get a right angled end to go in the POD so it’s less likely to be stepped on.
  13. I'd get a DT25 (or 50). That will sound brill and integrate really well. If you buy a Variax you will end up with a Dream Rig.. You will probably find a great deal on a DT too as people are put off by the name, thinking it's a modelling amp, not a valve amp...
  14. I have a Variax and when I use the acoustic sounds (basically the same thing I guess) I send the main signal to the pa from the fx out. There is a CustomTone patch called ‘acoustic DT’ which splits the sound. No idea about the delays I’m afraid...
  15. If you are using the Master Volume knob this is not saved in a patch.
  16. And make sure the switch on the front is set to line and not amp
  17. As Silverhead says, the amp (and 500x) are stand alone bits of kit. Are you getting any lights on the DT? If you peer in the back do the tubes glow?
  18. Might be better to try the AMPLIFi or Shurikan forum as this is more for DT/POD/Helix users who have a Variax/JTV/Shuriken. For my 2p I have an AMPLIFi 30 I use for practising with My JTV and it works/sounds great. The downside is that you won’t be able to change configuration on the Variax with the footswitch without actually changing the knobs on the guitar. One of the major plusses (for me) of my POD/JTV is that I save changes of amp & guitar in each patch then call this with the press of a footswitch.
  19. I would think that Workbench would run off a cheapo netbook. It’s not a heavy user of resources. It used to run on Win7 when I had that so try tracking down an old netbook? You could save files to that and back up on a USB key.
  20. I’ve always used a balanced 6mm (1/4†for your side of the pond) and have great results.
  21. Lol. I think you will get more out of Cruisinion’s points 1-6. And no one is trolling you. If you read other posts in the forum you will find this is an often asked question that has never been answered by Line 6.....
  22. I've been playing for over 30 years and until recently I would have agreed with your friend. When I started a PA was just about capable of taking vocals without distorting. As tech progressed the boards really only took mics hence micing gear. Nowadays PA is much more sophisticated and can handle DI and loads of different feeds before distorting. It's great for 'feel' to have amps on stage and have your trousers flapping but it's much better for the audience if (as you say) you keep the stage volume to a minimum. It's kind of down to who are you playing for? You or the audience. In a packed place, using amps, the people directly in front of you are only going to hear your guitar (and the ubiquitous drums). Now, they might want that. But that's prolly if they are musos. It's more likely they will want to hear the band so going direct and having a low stage volume (have you considered in ear monitoring?) will be best.
