I think you can do this by setting your Output Block and Track Input to 3/4 or 5/6. The return signal from Logic on USB 1/2 should then go direct to the Helix Output configured in Global Settings (default 1/2).
-
No. The Stomps that appear in 4x4 mode are either the Stomps assigned on the Top Row in Stomp Mode, or the Stomps that are assigned on the Bottom Row, and which row appears is set in Global Settings - Stomps/Snaps or Snaps/Stomps. That Global Setting can't be changed either per Snapshot or per preset - it's Global.
-
In Snapshot Mode the Scribble strips display Snapshot 1, Snapshot 2, etc. The photo shows Stomp Mode, and the Scribble Strips are blank because the Stomps have not been assigned to anything. You switch modes by tapping the Mode FS. If you Hold it you go into Edit Mode.

If it has a headphone (1/8"?) out, get an INSERT cable - 1/8" Stereo (TRS) to dual 1/4" Mono (TS). Connect it to the RETURNS and in Global Settings>Ins/Outs>Return Type set it to AUX. You MAY also be able to simply connect the tablet's Computer Out to the Stomp USB, which, by default, takes the Audio directly to the Stomp's Outputs, bypassing the signal chain/effects.
-
Only reason not to would be stage real estate/pedalboard size, extra buttons/inability to incorporate the outboard fx into snapshots, and static location in the signal chain. If none of that matters to you, go for it!

The X1 is a PreAmp. It does not have a Speaker out. A full blown Amp (which has a Power Amp and Speaker Out), has the FX loop between the Preamp and the Power amp. The X1, having no Power Amp, puts the FX Loop between the X1 Tone Stack and the X1 Preamp circuitry. Without using the X1 Preamp Out, all you get is another Tone Stack and the potential for a bunch of extra noise.. If OP likes the sound of the X1, that's what he likes about it (the sound of the full Preamp), and that's what it ADDS.
-
Using the X1 in a loop allows the option of using either the X1 or Helix amps/preamps alternately on a single footswitch (or snapshots) in a single preset, with pre and post effects for both. I assume that the purpose of the X1's FX loop is to allow having the effects in it's loop to be placed post tone stack, before it's output circuitry, which is not a power amp. Putting the X1 in a loop allows it's tone stack to be used separately from the Helix amps' tone stacks. IOW, the X1 becomes the equivalent of just another Helix amp option without adding it's own coloration when using only a Helix amp. It also allows the further option of sticking a bunch of pedals in the X1 FX loop, entirely separate from the Helix signal chain, or using a second Helix loop for discrete placement of Helix effects in the X1's loop. It also allows the the Helix impedance circuitry to affect those Helix effects which are sensitive to that (primarily fuzzes) in the way that the Helix designers intended. In short, it just increases the number of options available to the discerning (obsessive?) Tone Hound, which keeps us busy trying to troubleshoot their Rube Goldberg rigs. :-)

If it's MIDI, yes. If not, I don't think so, the regular Stomp can't, and I think the I/O is the same.

That would preclude using the Helix FX before the X1.

You can use fs 4/5 to toggle between two consecutive modes, or to scroll through the modes. Edit: this is not a command center function. You set the fs 4/5 functions in global settings>footswitches

I would put the X1 in a Helix FX Loop. By assigning a FS to Bypass the Helix FX Loop you would have the option of using the X1 or any of the Helix preamps/amps. You would assign the same FS as the Loop Bypass to the Helix preamp/amp and save the preset with one on and the other off, depending which one you wanted as the default when the preset loads. Example: Helix amp ON, Loop (X1) OFF or Helix amp OFF, Loop (X1) ON This configuration allows you to have Helix FX both before the X1/Helix preamp and after, between the active preamp/amp and the SD. Best of both worlds! Possible drawback would be if the X1 created excessive noise in the Loop, so you may have to experiment with the FX Send/Return Levels (INST or LINE) in Global Settings >Ins/Outs and the actual Send/Return Levels in the FX Loop Block. EDIT: this is a variation on the 4 cable method (4cm). You take the Helix FX Send Out (at INST Level) to the X1 guitar Input, and the X1 Output to the Helix FX Loop Return. Try the X1 FX SEND if you get excessive noise that you can't resolve with the previously mentioned methods. The Helix L/Mono Output goes to the SD. Also be sure to use quality shielded cables in the Loop, not the $5 GC specials that have been laying in the bottom of the assorted cables box for 15 years! :-)

If plugging your guitar into the L/Mono input works, but plugging your KP into the same input does not, then the problem is the KP or the cable, not the HXS.

The second thing I did when I got my Stomp (after updating it) was, after I tried them, overwriting all the factory presets with New Presets. But I don't recall any presets that started with TJ:XXXX. Did you get yours used, and maybe the previous owners presets or mods were still on there? EDIT: or maybe you or the previous owner bought presets from that YouTube guy TJonthe road?
-
That, and it would be really nice if all of the next manual updates (v4.0?) would include the factory reset procedures.......
-
Yes.

When digital stuff gets wonky, reboot/factory reset. Make sure you're on the latest FW version - v3.01. Install HX Edit v3.01. Click the gear icon in the lower left corner, select CHECK FOR UPDATES. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! If you're already on v3.01 of BOTH HX Edit AND the FW, then do a Factory Reset. Reboot holding FS 2+3. Come back and update us.

MIDI doesn't carry audio, so you need two XLR cables plus the MIDI cable, so three cables instead of one. It also requires setting up in CommandCenter for every preset. The only time you'd want to use that configuration is if your device does not have L6 Link, for instance, with the HX Stomp or some other mfr's MFX. The only other scenario I can think of is if you want to use an exp pedal to control the PC212 Output Level, which I think can be done without MIDI ( page 28 of the 3.0 manual, L6 Link>Powercab Settings>Output Block>Speaker Level), and you'd still want L6 Link to simplify preset configuration and to eliminate the two XLRs for audio. So, no, there's no advantage to using MIDI vs L6 Link. Some people think that there's a difference in the way L6 Link sounds vs XLR for audio. I think L6 Link sounds better. YMMV.
-
I have the PC212. Love it. Yes, you can set the speakers to different emulations and yes, you can split the signal. Also, the stereo spread is amazingly good for two side by side speakers in a single cab. You will want to use L6 link and, though some will say "it's just an XLR cable", get the proper digital cable and you won't be back here wondering why something doesn't work or sound the way you think it should as being the fault of the cable. AKA pre-emptive troubleshooting.

In a previous life, I did quite a bit of computer application programming. It only takes a small error in an algorithm to let something like that happen. Writing code, especially the kind of complex code that goes into something like Helix, is tricky. It gets even trickier when you're modifying existing code, especially if the coder didn't write the original code. Then, in beta testing, if the mistake doesn't throw an error, and you're not testing that function specifically, the problem wouldn't even be noticed. And finally, there's always a long list of stuff their small crew of programmers needs to do. Even if the problem gets reported, if it's not high on the priority list, well, you know about the squeaky wheel. That's why we need to stay on their case if it doesn't get fixed in v3.1.

Since we have no idea what device you're using, or what your Preset looks like, there's no way to solve your problem definitively. The best I can do is say "Connect the Outputs to the PA".
-
A) I believe you are correct. This is not the first time this came up, and I know that it worked in previous versions because I tested it before telling someone else how to do it. B) The reason they gave you is technically correct per what DD said above. The Preset needs to fully load before a Snapshot can load. It's very likely the support person you spoke to was entirely unaware that this once worked, as it's not really something that a lot of users do, and he used the term "supersedes" (implies intentional behavior) when he should have said that the message is sent, but since the preset hasn't loaded, it just doesn't work as expected, it just goes on by into the ether. I think that what happened is that in the course of adding the new MIDI functions that came with v3.0, the piece of code which checked that if an incoming MIDI command is CC#69, Helix should WAIT X-ms before processing so that the Preset has time to load first, got lost. In any case, I reported it when I discovered it (another thread), you've reported it, let's hope it gets fixed in v3.1, If not, I assure you that I will bug them about it, and you should too! We'll gang up on 'em!

Some people like to think of Preset ordering in "banks", so 01A-01B-01C is Bank 1, 02A-02B-02C is Bank 2, etc. The majority of users have no clue about MIDI PC numbers, and could be confused by 000-001-002 as presets 1,2,3; 003-004-005 as presets 4-5-6. I'm so used to thinking in MIDI that I had to go into Globals and set it back to the default banks configuration to remind myself how that works before I typed this! The only advantage to using the MIDI PC#s (besides familiarity) is if you're using the MIDI PC TX function to correlate and call presets on an external device.
