When you're playing, is the guitar in the same place relative to the computer as the HXS?
-
Unless you've got a MAC and you've set up an aggregate device (I've read mixed reviews), the ASIO driver in Ableton on Windows set to the Scarlett will take the Inputs from the Scarlett, pass it to the DAW/amp sim, and send the output to the Scarlett Outputs. It doesn't even see the Helix unless Helix is selected as ASIO, in which case it doesn't see the Scarlett. Either or, but not both. Yes, there's ASIO4ALL. Good Luck. To use an amp sim with HXS and Scarlett you just put the HXS into Bypass Mode. That sends an unprocessed signal straight from the HXS Input to the Outputs and on to the Scarlett and the amp sim. Turn the knob (switch?) on the Scarlett to Playback so you don't hear the direct signal from the HXS. Or, instead of Bypass Mode you can create a simple HXS preset w/o amp/cab, just FX, to go in front of the amp sim. Best of both worlds.

Just FYI - These are ported cabs. As the speakers move, air is moved in/out of the cab thru the ports. Class D amps don't get all that hot anyway, and the small bit of air moving does the trick.

No problems in Windows. Compatible OS: Mac OS X, macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave, macOS Catalina Not compatible?

My K240's are 55ohm, and with the HXS HP Output maxed and the output block at 0db, I wouldn't want it any louder. That's just sitting at home jamming along to Spotify/YT/backing tracks, and those are set lower than max for a good mix. YMMV.

If you want to lobby for your idea, once you've posted the idea on Ideascale, go to The Gear Page>Digital & Modeling Forum and post your idea (and link) either in the Helix thread, or create a new thread with a title that reflects it's purpose. There's a MUCH larger community of Helix users there.
-
The thing I like about Ideascale, and the reason I keep telling people to post their ideas there, is that we all get to VOTE for those ideas we think would be useful, and DOWN VOTE those that we think are a waste of the L6 programmers' time and efforts. So, @dennisnv, POST your idea, come back with the link, and let your peers decide if your idea has merit enough to influence the L6 design process! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Yes. The Scarlett would be the I/O device (ASIO) in Ableton, and the Output device in Windows Sound Panel or the MAC equivalent for streaming sources (YT, Spotify, etc). There's either a switch or a knob (depends on the model) on the Scarlett that determines whether the outputs are direct from the inputs or coming from the computer (Ableton or streaming sources) or a mix of the two.

I haven't re-read the entire thread, but IIRC, most of the problems reported were not very specific as to cause, mostly random, and therefore hard to troubleshoot.. Since your problem is VERY specific as to cause, please report it to Support (open a ticket) so that if there's a solution, we might all benefit. Thanks!

With Snapshots, you have the option to reload - Global Settings>Preferences>Snapshot Reselect. Nowhere (that I see) is that option available for Presets, so, it is Standard Behavior. If the option was available for Presets, and didn't work, that would be a BUG, and you would be right to report it as such. Since it's NOT a feature, it's not a bug, it's a FEATURE REQUEST, and should be posted on Ideascale and put to a vote. You are correct, this is the forum for help. My double posted suggestion is boilerplate, since so many users post feature requests here and, I thought, implied the above. Sorry if that was confusing, I was obviously having trouble with reality that day! :-)

Sometimes I'm having so much fun I lose track of reality......usually a good thing.....

Wrong forum. This is where you go if you're serious about suggestions for changes and improvements: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting a new idea, please search to see if it's already been proposed. If 100 people vote on the same idea presented 20 different ways, it looks like only 5 people care about it! Also, post your ideas one at a time. I for one NEVER vote for multiple combined suggestions.

I jumped into the future (new helix went from 2.69 to 3.11)

Also, RTM! There's other options for the footswitches, and further ways to customize them using CommandCenter. -
Before posting something as a BUG, it's best practice to first find out if anyone else has the problem. If it's actually a BUG, then EVERYONE will have the problem. That is NOT the case here. You should probably do a factory reset, then examine your presets, then open a support ticket.

??? I set my two external switches for Snapshot Prev/Next on my Stomp, no problem. On my Helix Floor I set up two Stomp Mode Footswitches for Snapshot Prev/Next, no problem. Perhaps if you stated which device you're using and attached your Preset I can figure out what's wrong. EDIT: Sorry, you're using a Helix Floor. Just attach your preset and I'll have a look at it.

Question on using the Behringer FCB1010 with the Helix.
rd2rk replied to wiiqwertyuiop's topic in Helix
You're using the stock FCB chip, which uses the CC Toggling function within a preset. Since only one FCB preset can be active at a time, and the CC resets between presets, that's what causes the problem you described. If you want to stick with the FCB, get the UNO chip: FCB1010 add-ons This mod (very easy) will allow you to have 19 Banks with 5 Presets and 5 independent Toggling CCs in each Bank. To prevent needing a double tap in a case where the effect on the controlled device is already on and you want to turn it off (or vice versa) you can configure the FCB preset to send the ON message at preset load, so that the next press of the assigned Stomp sends OFF. This only works with HW/SW that uses Toggling (Latching) CCs. Sims such as BIAS FX, which toggle when ANY value is received from the assigned CC, won't work with this feature. If you go this way you'll also want the UNO_ControlCenter Editor. The free editors won't work with the latest version of UNO, and this editor comes from the creator of the UNO chip. Altogether it costs about $50 and there's a Forum where the creator (and others including me) are very active. Alternately, you could get the new UNO2 chip. This chip is fully programmable. You can make the FCB do most anything you want. The key word here is "Programmable". Unlike the stock FCB and original UNO, which use a GUI Editor to configure the FCB, UNO2 uses an actual programming language. It's relatively simple, and comes with an excellent manual, but if you're intimidated by programming language and text editors, it's not for you. If you go this way, the editor is included and support is available at the same Forum mentioned above. Altogether <>$70. Attached is the sample UNO2 program code that I wrote for Helix. It by no means utilizes every MIDI controllable function of Helix, it's a taste of what's possible. This, and sample code for several other devices/sims, are available on the aforementioned Forum. Sounds bigger and stereo. The two are not the same.

Tap - press - STOMP I find that my footswitches these days prefer to be STOMPED. Don't know if it's old age - Helix or me? Either way, hoping it doesn't get worse!

Be sure to let them know that it's been confirmed by at least one other. Even if it's a switch "sensitivity" thing (what I suspect, HW vs SW bug), it's good to let them know. Do please come back with their reply.

Maybe it is a bug. Mine does it too. I set up two presets to toggle back and forth as you described, and just alternated NEXT/PREV. Every so often it just randomly decides to skip, always (in my limited testing) on the PREV command. Curious!
