True. But again, not relevant to the thread topic, which is simply a question about actual measurable latency WITHIN the HW, not whether or not it affects my playing, or your playing, or what to do about it. Just, simply, "What is the actual real world objectively measurable latency of the hardware?".

I'm 99% sure that a solution to this problem has been requested on Ideascale, and more than once! Go there, do a search and VOTE!

The question has nothing to do with "ITB (DAW)" latency, two different animals. The question relates to input to output latency within the Helix/GT1000 themselves, which is primarily caused by the AD/DA conversions, and secondarily by the processor speed. Since converters these days are all pretty fast, as phil_m suggested, the difference between the Helix and GT1000 could be the oversampling, 48k vs 96k.

Once I found a .heic converter I saw that. You need to be comparing the 26 ON the HXS to the 26 ON the Helix, BOTH through the ASC10. That's the only way you'll find the problem. Also, take some other presets from the HXS and put them on the Helix. A/B multiple presets through the ASC10, HXS vs Floor. When I did my comparison I moved my HXS from my office to my studio and ran the 26 preset side by side on my Floor into a mixer and on to a set of studio monitors. As apples to apples as it gets.

Of course, if you don't like it, you don't like it, but I think it's one of the best medium gain amps in the box!

HX Stomp sounds better when HX Edit is running. Why?

No difference here, I even tried just in case I'd simply never noticed before but, no difference. This. -
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! I'm not even sure he's human......I mean, ALIEN LOVE SECRETS! How else can he be explained?

As stated repeatedly by the designer (search over on TGP) it's NOT a Dumble. As is well known, all Dumbles were made specifically for the original purchaser, so no two Dumbles sound the same, and therefore can not be accurately modeled. Insofar as there is a clone that people think sounds like some Dumble or other, the Fuchs seems to be the one, and it's at least well thought of by Dumble fans, so I do hope they model it. Go over to Ideascale (there's nobody here from Line6) and search for Fuchs, then VOTE for all of the posts by those who didn't search before posting.

This.

26 is identical on both my HXS and Floor. Main Rig won't fit on HXS, so not sure why you sent it.
-
Can you attach your preset? I'll try it on both my HXS and my Floor.
-
DAMN you're fast! Back to the factory reset!
-
Is the 1/4" TS or TRS? The HXS outs are balanced, so you should be using TRS.
-
If everything is set the same, and both are running through the same playback system, I can only guess digital gremlins. Back up your HXS (including Globals) and do a factory reset (reboot holding FS 2 + 3). If that doesn't work, call an exorcist (or open a support ticket).
-
Are they both running FW v3.11? Also, check Global Settings Ins/Outs and Preferences.
-
BUT, BUT, Steve Vai can hear 2ms! :-) I hear you, My HXS in the office is connected to an ancient 8gb i5. When I fool around with AT5 or THU, the best I can do without glitches is 128spls, which results in 20.9ms. I can "feel" it, but it's not nearly so bad that I can't still have fun.
-
Make sure the FW version is 3.11 and the HX Edit version is 3.10. If yes, do a factory reset. If that doesn't fix it, open a support ticket.

Assuming you're referring to @dj3000, he says he's getting NO signal and, as I have the same device, that's not an issue. As to "true-bypass" vs not, that has more to do with loss of high frequencies due to cable lengths and stuff I never really understood (and not even the experts agree on). My 535Q is the only analog pedal I have, and I only use it with my HXS (my "noodle" box), I have a Floor for serious playing.

Thanks @phil_m. I thought maybe something like that, and maybe to do with their use of a proprietary purpose-made chip vs the SHARC.
-
Thanks for doing that @PierM. My thoughts were similar to that and @Kringle. The only time this matters (to me) is when someone wants to use all 4 FX loops to for additional digital devices, the latency adds up. I got interested because there's a guy on another forum that aggressively pushes this latency thing and when I called him on it, all he could do was link the video I linked. This is a spec that it would be nice to see provided by Mfrs.
-
Not losing any sleep, just asking a question. It only really matters when I'm trying to advise someone who wants to use all 4 FX Loops for additional digital devices, as it adds up. I won't be running out to buy a GT1000 to recover 1.5ms. :-)
-
I know all of that. None of it is entirely correct, but that's for another discussion. I'm asking a question specifically related to the difference in latency between two specific pieces of hardware, which arose from a discussion I was having in another forum. I asked the question of someone who is known to have some knowledge of the subject, and has commented on it previously. The answer is of interest to me, and that's all that matters.

Presets with their snapshots, yes. Snapshots by themselves, no - they don't exist by themselves.

@phil_m 4 years ago you posted this: There's always going to be some latency with anything digital, but the total throughput latency of the Helix is very minor - like around 1ms. Someone on TGP posted about the much better latency of the GT1000, and made me watch a long annoying video wherein a very well meaning guy tested very scientifically(?) and came to the conclusion that the latency on the GT1000 = .5ms vs Helix = 2ms. BOSS GT 1000 vs LINE 6 HELIX vs a Real PLEXI: FEEL and LATENCY test! - YouTube I won't torture you by making you watch the whole thing (like the TGP guy did to me!), just skip to 15:40. What say ye? This came up during a discussion of 4cm, where such tiny differences can add up quickly with multiple FX loops.

Seymour Duncan, Quilter and Orange (and others) make pedalboard amps at higher wattages, but you'll pay as much for a 200 watt mono amp as for a 300w per channel stereo PA type power amp. If you want a little mini thing on your pedalboard vs a rack sized unit, that's where those come in.
