  1. From the manual page54: Global Settings>Exp Pedal Position Determines whether each expression pedal position is recalled per snapshot, per preset, or applied globally. If you want a Volume Pedal or Wah to maintain its position when switching presets, set this to “Global.”
  2. Helix has a problem processing a CC at the same time as it receives a PC. You could try sending the PC at the end of the scene, and the CC at the beginning of the next scene. The solution to the first problem may also solve the second problem. I'm away from home and Helix, OTR with my HXS and laptop. I don't have LIVE11, but I do have Live 10 on my laptop. If you can send a more detailed description of a "test" configuration, I can try it with what I've got. Also, what do you mean by "Hold Pedal2"? To change snapshots you send CC#69 with a Value of 0-7 (SS 1-8).
  3. 1) If the phone can send MIDI, it'll work if the OTG cable is compatible with the HXS USB (IDK). 2) If you want the swell before the effects, you'll need a volume block before the split. If you want the swell after the effects, you can a) merge the paths with a volume block last, b) use a volume block on each path (separate outputs), or c) assign the expression pedal to the volumes on the Output Block(s).
  4. No. MIDI over 5-pin or USB (thru computer) only.
  5. Sounds like time to open a support ticket.
  6. You're going to need MIDI to accomplish all of what you've described. You should look into small MIDI controllers like the Morningstar MC6/MC8. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the MIDI commands required to do these things in the MIDI CC section of the Helix manual. Most of it should be doable, but you're asking a lot, and will have to prioritize your needs, experiment and think outside of the box to get there. There's no modeler I know of that will do all of what you're asking natively. Last thought - when I played in cover bands (back in the stone-age before modelers), we had setlists. They usually went out the window when we got to the gig. You may still need to fall back on that spreadsheet once in a while.
  7. 1/4" TRS to Dual TS - Tip (L) to KC, KC back to L/Mono Return, Ring (R) to SD. OR TS from SEND to KC, TS back to L/Mono Return SPLIT PAN A = Left 100; PAN B = Right 100 MIXER PAN A = Left 100; PAN B = Right 100 OUTPUT = CENTER L/Mono Out to Bad Cat R Out to SD I'm away from home, so I can't really test the second method except with headphones, but it seems to work. NOTE - there'll be a slight delay on the right (delay/reverb to SD) due to the additional da/ad conversion at the Loop. This should just serve to "fatten" up the sound, but the further apart the amps are, the more pronounced it might be. If it bothers you, using a delay on Path A before the MIXER as I did on the attached method 2 demo might fix it. Smudge mod1.hlx
  8. Re-install HX Edit 3.01. Reinstall v3.01 FW. If it still doesn't work do a factory reset.
  9. Put the KC in a loop on the path to the SD. Put the split after any effects you want before both. See the attached example preset. Smudge.hlx
  10. In Command Center, set the expression pedal you want to use to send CC#7 . Leave the min/max values at 0/127. Leave the MIDI Channel set to BASE. Connect the Helix MIDI OUT to the Powercab MIDI IN.
  11. That's already available via MIDI. IIRC, it's CC#7.
  12. I've switched presets from Reaper. I've controlled the Reaper Transport from Helix. Unless you have all of the Helix presets that you use also configured to control the Transport, whenever you switch presets to one that isn't also configured to control the transport, you'll lose those functions. In Global Settings>MIDI/Tap, MIDI PC RECEIVE has to be ON and if you're using USB, MIDI OVER USB needs to be enabled. 5-pin MIDI ports are always enabled by default. Reaper needs to be sending to Helix on the BASE Channel. As for your weird speed problem, the only thing I can think of is to make sure you're using the latest version of Reaper. There's an update at least once a week. You might try asking about it over on the Cockos Forum.
  13. On MIDI Channel 16 it's sending PCs 12, 13, and 14. What that means is that the GT8 numbers it's PCs 0-127, and your amp recognizes PCs numbered 1-128. Change your Base Channel to MIDI Channel 16 and the preset (mod3) should work
  14. Note on A/B boxes: I have two - a passive LiveWire (sold under several brand names), and an active Morley. They both add considerable background hum. If you go this way, spend the money for a better quality unit with at least a ground switch. These can get pricey. Also, be aware that most A/B switches have a 1M input, so you'll lose the advantage of the Helix Input Impedance function.
  15. Re-install HX Edit 3.01 with all drivers selected. Do this even if you think you already did. If it still happens, come back with the MAC OS version.
  16. The +15v is usually there to power the LED. What you want to ask L6 support is if that could damage your Helix. As most oem channel switching footswitches have LEDs, I suspect that it's not a problem, but it doesn't hurt to ask specifically.
  17. I had a quick look at the GT8 manual. If your GT8 is using the factory settings: MIDI Receive Channel = 1 MIDI Transmit Channel = MIDI Receive Channel (1) MIDI PC Out = ON (transmits default PC#s when GT8 preset is loaded) Bank 4 Presets send: 1 = PC#13 2 = PC#14 3 = PC#15 4 = PC#16 Here's your Helix Preset set up to send: SS1 = PC#13 SS2 = PC#14 SS3 = PC#15 I'm doing this on my Stomp, so 3 Snapshots is all you get. RANDALL 4 CORD Mod3.hlx
  18. Also, with the MIDI monitor, check what the GT8 is sending on the Bank/patches that work. If the GT8 is sending PCs instead of CCs, then we'll try that.
  19. Test this. Put a MIDI monitor on your computer and make sure that your helix is actually sending the MIDI messages. You'll be testing MIDI over USB, so make sure that is enabled. MIDI over the 5-pin is always enabled, but if you have a separate 5-pin MIDI interface, try it that way to make sure that's working as intended. If your Helix is sending MIDI over the 5-pin, then either the Randall docs suck SO bad that we're totally getting it wrong, or you've got the Randall's MIDI channel wrong, or something. As for why the GT-8 works, maybe it's sending in OMNI (all channels) mode. That's all I can think of on that. MIDI is MIDI and if it works from one device it will work on an identically configured device.
  20. You're still not saving correctly. Do this. Go to Global Settings>Preferences and set SNAPSHOT EDITS to RECALL. Do that, and as long as you save the preset on the desired default Snapshot, all your changes will be saved. Try the attached. RANDALL 4 CORD Mod2.hlx
  21. Usually, re-installing HXEdit 3.01 will restore all of the drivers and fix the connection problems.
  22. Disregard test suggestion, you found the problem!
  23. Get a new TRS cable? My Moskey works fine, but I have no clue what kind of TRS cable it is, just some old generic thing I pulled out of "the cable box". You could test the Moskey and the cable using a continuity tester to eliminate that as the problem. Maybe one or the other is just faulty?
