But you can play through the mixer with the record playback playing? I guess you can leave the record window? I actually have done that to adjust the mix, so clearly I have answered my own question now. Thanks SiWatts for the clarification.

Wifi USB adapter dropping connection
Digital-sound replied to RONBLACK1's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Does it matter though? I don't know the answer. I just assumed as long as it wasn't getting in between my ipad and the router, it wouldn't affect me. But can it burden the 5GHz just by putting weight on the 2.4GHz? In any case, my ipad connection was solid everywhere since switching to 5GHz. But, I am not usually far from the board. At a small festival last weekend, I was only doing sound. When too many people got between me and the board, I had dropouts. But the router was in a case, very concealed and behind the stage. Probably an easy fix if I put it even on top of the case....exposed. -
FBS reduces the gain
Digital-sound replied to oove's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
When everything is set right, and not trying to overdo it as mentioned, the feedback manager is great. I only ever hear a quick squeak now. If you need more out of your system, back off the effects. The drier the vocals, the more volume you can get if that is what you need. Reverb will work against you. Also, watch for reverb in the monitors if the feedback is on stage. It can easily appear on the monitors if you don't check that it is not linked. The effects start as global until you remove them. -
Build Your Own Custom Presets
Digital-sound replied to dboomer's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
You mean you want your presets along the selection list....instead of the default...good idea. There are so many I never use, and I have to scroll around. I would even like to rearrange the defaults in order of preference. Never tried. -
M20d drivers for Mac
Digital-sound replied to tj6000's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I didn't like using the USB connection to play music. I found a lot of latency. Just pushing play and stop. Not a huge deal for just play back, but if it is slowing your computer that much, just use the headphone jack if all you need is play back. Plug into inputs 17/18 on the board. Works great, and 0 latency. -
Moshi brand does work. I use it all the time, and it has a USB port so I can use the USB to ethernet, and backing track on a USB stick. It is most easily found on the Apple Store website. I got mine at staples. About the same price as the apple brand, but has the USB port for a stick to be used as well. Edit: Sorry, Si....I see you already credited me.....note to self: READ the whole post BEFORE commenting!

M20d screen freezes on me -- AGAIN!
Digital-sound replied to dieterstoll's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I really feel for you guys. I haven't had this happen, but I do understand. There are still quite a few bugs, and hopefully another release comes out soon to fix, and improve the current version. But as Don says, it may not be firmware. Worth checking. I had issues with my A aux being very faint. I dealt with it fine as I usually use only the L6 link. So no need for that output. I was certain it was for aware cause it started after the last update, and if it was hardware, it should be on, or off....I would think. Not faintly working. A gig came up where I was to do sound using a house system. I told them i wanted to use my system as their board is not in a permanent location, and it was predicted to be very busy so I didn't want to guard a board all day. Rather just an ipad in hand. So a couple days before, I tested all my outputs cause i was gonna need them. Still had the problem with A aux, and now the left main too! No time to send off. I decided to take a quick "peek" in the board to see if maybe it was just an issue with a loose wire on the jacks. Well, I would suggest not bothering with that unless you are a electronics person, and warranty is up anyway. I was stopped when I seen circuit boards in my way. Too much to do on my lap. So I put it back together. And, it is now working fine! All outputs and inputs. So problem isn't fixed, but I am certain it is hardware now. Clearly, I moved something. I pack my board around a lot and it is only in a rolling rack case. Not shock mounted. I am guessing that is the problem. Long story short....and I know you case is different with the screen freezing....but again, it may not be firmware. BUT, the firmware does have known bugs....Line 6 knows too, and I am confident they are working on it. -

Would easily accept a refurbished unit as well while waiting for repair. -
Great Gig Last Night
Digital-sound replied to saundr00's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I have also posted a lot of positive....for the same reason. I am still amazed at the simplicity of the set up. Yet, it can also be done in as complicated of a manner that any pro audio engineer would like! Last weekend, I did an outdoor show with three bands playing and an MC going all day. I had the full system going, with four monitor mixes, in less than an hour. Using pretty much only the presets as I didn't really know the bands that well...only how many members and instruments. Sound was great and lots complimented. Only complaint I had was not enough bottom. Would like another pair of LS3's. Lots of top just with 2 L3t's, but couldn't quite get the bottom I like, and subs had the yellow limit lot coming on regularly with the kick. So were pretty much at their max. But lots of compliments, and even one from the MC, who is a radio DJ, about the spoken voice quality. And one of the bands has asked if I will do their sound for their future gigs. The system is awesome, but still so unknown to so many. -
I would have to take a look and I will when I get a chance. But I am wondering if there is a way to do it in the recording section. When you record on the m20d, and then play back, you can adjust each channels level. I haven't tried an external recording, but maybe there is something in the recording section that lets you import a multi track recording and have each track on its own channel? That would be pretty useful and is probably what you are thinking? What I would try, is to put your tracks in a folder on an sd card, and then see if you can see them in the recording window. There is nothing about it in the new manual. And even if you do see them in the recording window, I don't know how you would play through the mixer with the tracks. Which would obviously be the point. Maybe this feature was supposed to be added, but they didn't? It does say all over the Internet that it is a new feature in the current firmware....

Wifi USB adapter dropping connection
Digital-sound replied to RONBLACK1's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
If you are on 2.4Ghz, the dance floor, or just a filled venue, will be a problem because almost everyone has a cell phone now, and often, Bluetooth is activated. That can be a problem. I also found that my wireless mic and guitar would be great in soundcheck, and then have many dropouts during performance. That was fixed by using the other mode. It is line 6 gear. Now, nothing gets in the way of my wireless gear, or my 5GHz connection. -

I had drop out problems with my apple express when using 2.4GHz mode. In the 5GHz mode, it is solid. It doesn't seem to matter that you can't turn off the 2.4GHz. Just don't connect to it. Be sure to connect to the 5GHz connection which you will have to set up. -

For me, it is my retailer that looks after me. They never leave me without gear..... -
When I finally realized my problem, I opened the ipad to the L6 configuration page. So I could see what was happening. That is when I could see the speakers rebuilding their connections. The page would go blank, and then the speakers would come back. It was the first time I used the system on this particular stage and I started my L6 run at a monitor. I am certain it was a loose connection causing a break from vibration of drums and bass. The problem would range from about a couple of seconds to up to 10 or 15 seconds (which feels like a lot longer in the moment!). The cables seemed in place too. So even if we were looking, we would have seen the connection lost, but everything else would seem fine. With the speakers off of the stands, it could be very likely the vibration causing a "disconnect"?

Wifi USB adapter dropping connection

The Moshi brand works as well....it is even sold on the apple store online. And, it comes with a USB port, so you can use a USB stick at the same time. I have done it very often. Our backing tracks are on a USB stick, so I can access the backing tracks, connect with my airport express, and record to an SD card. -
I have never used auto trim. I have always set the trim the old fashioned way. I do engage trim tracking on all channels just as a safety to avoid clipping (usually later in the night if you can imagine). I have had some issues with my board, but have overcome them usually by paying careful attention to what I have done. There is usually a reason for everything, and Dboomer and Arneline6 have seen and worked through many to all of them with people. Try to answer their questions, and send a back up file, and believe me, you will arrive at so every stress free, "set and forget", mixing. (And don't thin the 01v has no issues. Just using it, compared to the m20d, is an "issue". But there are others.) I don't mean to try and play down or deny any issues you may be having. I am just suggesting that if you need help, try to answer the questions. Sometimes, the solution is way off where you thought it would be.

I still don't see anything that indicates that trim tracking increases the level. It only decreases. At least the manual does not talk about increasing trim. And it shouldn't increase. We set the trim level where we want it. In the case that player increases there volume to the point where distortion would be present, it will decrease the trim/input gain, and increases the channel level. After that, if the player goes back to the volume they were at, the trim level will not increase. The instrument or voice would have to be re-mixed using channel levels manually. When trim levels are set manually, the idea is to have the performer play, or sing, as loud as they expect their loudest part of the performance to be. Drummer should hit kick as hard as he might anytime during the gig.....after a few beers even. Singer should scream into mic if that is what he may do during the night. That way, there will be no clipping at the loudest part of the night. You don't generally mess with input levels/ trim once they are set unless you hear clipping. The m20d does this for us. But it won't assume you want the trim turned up. If more volume is needed, it would be done with the channel gain...not the trim.
