  1. That sounds like a Steven Wright joke...;)
  2. Best you can hope for is that re-flashing the firmware will undo whatever chaos the universe has wrought...it'll ask you if you want to keep the presets currently on the guitar. Say "yes" unless you want to start from scratch with whatever adjustments you've made in Workbench.
  3. No, because the only thing that proves is that you have a warranty card. For all they know, you could have bought the thing used 3 years ago, and the card just happened to still be rattling around in the case. I'm a bit of a pack rat with paperwork...I have warranty cards for items that were purchased years ago. Doesn't mean the stuff is still covered. And right or wrong, if you're a company, the first rule of warranty repair is "find a reason not to do the work". Easiest way to accomplish that is to demand proof of purchase, because it's the first thing everybody loses and/or throws away. I'm not saying it's right, but it is what it is.....
  4. Lol... Me too. In fact, I'm not here. These aren't the droids you're looking for. ;)
  5. Lmao... it's a regular "How To Win Friends and Influence People" seminar in here today.
  6. I'm sure there's a point hiding in there somewhere, but I'll be buggered if I can find it. The definition of "new" pretty much guarantees that nothing has been fixed yet. "New" means unused. Thus, any lurking defects are as yet undiscovered... As for buying "refurbished" anything as being an "advantage" because it used to be broken, but was nursed back to health....were that the case, "new" stuff would be a whole lot harder to unload. But, I gotta tip my hat. I used to work for a guy who would to say stuff just like that all the time...the man could sell ice to an Eskimo.
  7. "Scratch and dent" generally means some minor cosmetic flaw, or a few pick scratches if it was used as a demo....got mine from Sweetwater too, and I had a hard time finding the "scratch". But to me "refurbished" screams "this thing had a problem"...otherwise there's nothing to "refurbish". Same reason I won't buy a used car. You never know what you're getting, or what was done to it. And warranty or no, as far as I'm concerned, a unit that already has a history of problem(s) is more likely to have future issues than one that hasn't been out of the box yet.
  8. It's always a good idea to mute the rest of the strings when trying to tune, particularly with the two E strings, as they're even multiples of the same frequency. Sympathetic vibrations from one will set the other string in motion if it's not muted. Any guitar in the world can confuse a tuner this way.
  9. Yup, dimmer switches and their idiot cousins, ceiling fans, are the two worst offenders for extra guitar noise...eclipsed only by the neon "Miller Lite" signs that every bar insists on hanging 8 feet from the stage. ;)
  10. You'll need a dual amp patch. Clean tone in PATH A, dirty tone in PATH B (or vice versa, doesn't really matter). Assign the channel volume parameter of each to the expression pedal. Heel down (the "minimum" position) for the clean, and toe down ("maximum") for the crunch.
  11. If you ask me $800 is a little steep for "refurbished" (Latin for "previously destroyed" ;) ), when you can buy brand new ones for $1K all day long.
  12. I sympathize with you, but no company on earth is just gonna take your word for it that an item is still under warranty...they'd go out of business fixing stuff eons after it was sold. You always have to provide proof of purchase.
  13. I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that this is probably why sound is coming from the speakers. ;) Turn 'em of, and/or unplug them...
  14. Hate to rain on your parade, but 415.3 Hz is Ab, not Eb....but regardless, as others have already said, the tuner is chromatic. You can tune to any pitch you want as it is.
  15. May as well ask for the next update to come with a parachute and a beer cozy.
  16. The internet is like the waiting room at a giant psychotherapy free-clinic that just ran out of happy pills. Now if you'll excuse me, the voices are telling me that I have to replace the candles on my "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" Pat Benatar shrine.
  17. "Refurbished" is Latin for "RUN! BUY SOMETHING ELSE"....;) But seriously...I like my JTV69 a lot. It gets tons of use...but at just 3+ yrs old, it's developing some issues. Intermittently now, sound just starts cutting out when using the models. No rhyme or reason to it that I can find. So far re-flashing the firmware has "fixed" things...but eventually it'll do it again. No idea why. Sooner or later, I expect the modeling will crap out entirely. Hasn't happened yet, but since intermittent problems are nearly impossible to genuinely "fix", I'm waiting till it sh!ts the bed completely before pursuing a repair. But I am a bit reluctant to gig with it at this point. Never know when it's gonna happen. Point is, these guitars are quirky on a good day. No guarantees, even with a new one. I'd be very skeptical of one sold as "refurbished". If there hadn't been something wrong with it at some point, then there wouldn't have been anything to "refurbish".
  18. I like mine too, but don't hold your breath. There aren't enough of these things in the wild for any 3rd parties to bother making aftermarket accessories or necks. They'd never get their money back...too much of a niche product. It's just dumb luck that Strat replacement necks happen to fit the JTV69. A pickguard you could get though. There are companies that will make you a custom one if you send them a tracing of the original, and tell em where the holes need to go.
  19. No Warmoth replacements...heel dimensions are different, and there's 2 extra frets.
  20. That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I think I'm gonna cry...😢
  21. Well...I'm not entirely sure that beer can actually improve anything. But on the bright side, if you have enough you'll definitely stop giving a damn if something sucks, lol. ;)
  22. I find that there are precious few things in this life that are not immediately improved by the addition of bacon.
  23. A moment of silence for George Carlin...😢
  24. Can't tell you anything about the neck, as I've never played one. But as for the rest, if you want a tremelo, then you're getting a Floyd. The regular 89 is a stop-tail, though I was under the impression they're not making that one anymore. Not sure tho... Floyds do exactly what they're designed to do, and they do it well...but personally they drive me insane. Changing strings is annoying enough, I can do without having to take the lock nuts off, and clipping the ball ends off the strings. The little saddle inserts that anchor the string are easy to pop out and lose, too...so I gave them up long ago. But they do have their uses. If you're a dive-bomb guy, you'll love it. They stay in tune well, they're just a hassel.
  25. Locally harvested? Those things get nasty...
