  1. And your bacon preference? Regular, maple, apple wood smoked, candied, Canadian?
  2. I guess Lollipop the auto-censor has the day off...;)
  3. No...don't over-think it. All it means is you can't put 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag. The cabinet can tolerate up to 320W of power before it will start launching speakers into next week. Try and feed it more than that and you will eventually destroy something. If you try to max out the volume on any power amp though, you're gonna break something...to say nothing of your eardrums. It's never a good idea.
  4. If you listen carefully at the 2:18 mark, what's missing is obviously MAPLE bacon....it's clear as day. I swear, sometimes I think everyone around here is deaf but me. ;)
  5. Unfortunately there's only one way to find out....sound clips won't help you much because until the thing is in front of you, plugged into your gear in a real-world situation, there's no reliable way to gauge whether or not you're gonna like it. On the plus side, as power amps go, this thing is practically free. Buy one from someplace with a liberal return policy, and try it out. Absolute worst case scenario if you can't return it, you're out ~$150. I've paid bigger bar tabs...
  6. Have you guys learned nothing from childhood? If you keep responding to him, this forum will be plagued by his bizarre one-song fetish until the end of time. He wants to instigate, and get a rise out of people. But without an audience, he'll vanish like a fart in the wind. Let him go....
  7. Yeah...a motor is just asking for trouble. Aside from just being something else that will eventually break, I can only imagine the extra noise it would introduce. It's hard enough to silence unwanted hum and buzzing as it is.
  8. Well far be it from me to discourage invention, but imho it didn't catch on because it's stupid....well perhaps that's a bit harsh. But it's definitely impractical. This is a solution desperately searching for a problem.... "Hang on boys...I hafta move my pickup for the next tune." Thanks, but I'll pass. It's not always necessary, or a "swell idea" to reinvent the wheel.
  9. Lol. Social media baffles me. Click..."Look world, I'm at the bank! Next it's Target, and then Walgreens. Not sure if I'll have time to get the car washed, because I kinda need to take a dump. Tune in at 2:30 pm for the wrap-up". Nobody cares...
  10. That little thing will probably surprise you....I've only used one live once (it was a few years ago) when my TS100 crapped out at sound check. It was plenty loud. Only problem with it is that at higher volumes it will start to break up a little, so clean tones will likewise start to get a little dirty. That may or may not be a good thing, depending on the sound you're after. But it's obscenely loud for something the size of an eyeglass case.
  11. No problem. Though I should have added that you do need to look at the wattage rating on the cabinet too. If the cabinet says "MAX 150W @ 8 ohms", don't try to feed it with a 300W amp, even if the impedance is matched.
  12. You can always use a cabinet with a higher impedance rating than the power amp...the trade off is that you lose power. An amp that's expecting an 8 ohm load will have to work harder to drive a 16 ohm cabinet. Sooner or later you run out of headroom, but you won't damage anything. The question is, will it be loud enough? Depends on the amp, and there's only one way to find out. I did this for years with a Marshall 25th Anniversary Jubilee 4x12 (16 ohms), and a variety of power amps. Some of the amps had selectable impedance, some didn't. There were a couple of solid state ones that topped out at 8 ohms...but if it's pushing enough watts, it'll work just fine. What you CANNOT do, is plug an 8 ohm power amp into a 4 ohm speaker. That will require pulling out your checkbook, and possibly a fire extinguisher. ;) Look for an amp with selectable impedance. That way you can match it to whatever cabinet you want, and should you get a different cabinet down the road, no worries...just set the amp where it needs to be.
  13. Well its not the typical alt tuning complaint...and this is probably a dumb question, but are you sure the modeling is engaged and you're not using the mags?

Free plug-ins are awesome, but if it's not sufficiently granular, then I don't want it. ;)
  15. Only if you're compelled to "selfie" the entire process of aquiring, consuming, and of course the post-mortem qualitative assessment of the coffee...which you then proceed to broadcast to everyone on earth with access to an internet connection, so that all of humanity may share in your "adventure"...
  16. Going amp-less is a lot like trying to quit smoking. If you don't actually WANT to stop, you won't...;)
  17. Why not look for an on-line source like Sweetwater? They might be able to hook you up...plus you'd avoid the soul-crushing experience that is shopping at GC. ;)
  18. Not an unreasonable concern...the HD series ain't new, and the current focus is clearly on Helix. I would not expect anything much to be added to the PODs at this point. Sometime in the not too distant future, I expect there to be some other offering in sub-$1K territory for those who can't/won't pony up for a Helix...but who knows? They could keep seeking the POD as-is for another 5 years, too...time will tell.
  19. This falls squarely into the "easier said than done category". Imho, if you want any kind of flexibility, one pickup ain't gonna cut it...no matter where you put it.
  20. If there's a PA, then it's an option. And if there's no PA, then your singer is gonna have a rough night...;)
  21. It took several years, but I finally converted all my guitars to stainless frets. Should have done it 20 years ago. Would have saved me a small fortune in grind and polish jobs in the long run. Unless you're currently 20 years old and playing 28 hours a day/9 days a week, you'll probably drop dead before a set of stainless frets will need work. And bending strings is effortless. Regular frets feel like sand paper now.
