  1. I have no experience with the the Kemper, so I'm in no place to argue that point... but my experience with a number of modelers over the years has been the exact opposite. If I'm going to have to tweak anyway, then why pay for the privilege when I can start from scratch for free?
  2. Three things: 1) Feature requests need to go in Ideascale... nobody's gonna see it in here but other users. 2) The current Variax line is a decade old, and hasn't seen any development in 5 or 6 years now... they're not adding anything at this point. 3) There are only a few L6 devices with mobile device apps, like Sonicport and Amplifi... and they were designed specifically with that kind of functionality in mind...for anything else, it ain't happening.
  3. Hoping to rely on someone else's patches, created with different guitars, on a different playback system than whatever you're using, in a different listening environment, and all dialed in at an unknown volume, is a recipe for failure. You need to learn how to create the sound(s) you're after yourself, because a drag and drop solution doesn't exist... there are simply too many variables. YouTube is overflowing with Helix tutorials... start with Jason Sadites' channel. He explains very clearly and concisely how and why he uses certain things to achieve a given result, and that's what you need at this point... the perfect tonal solution can't be purchased. You gotta do it... and once you understand the device, it becomes second nature.
  4. Because the moon is in the Seventh House, but you my friend are still knocking on the Sixth Door....
  5. Lol, well despite it being my native tongue, English is a stupid language...and while this is no doubt becoming more than a little silly now (and unless I miss my guess, it'll probably devolve further), you are correct. ;) Deflate, defund, decaffeinate, delete, descend... detune With precious few exceptions, "de-anything" means lowering, removing, subtracting from, etc etc.... not raising or adding to something.
  6. Experiences with the Variax are all over the map, and you'll find plenty of players who'd argue this particular point all day long... over on the Variax forum there have been numerous discussions over the years of strange artifacts, particularly with the 12 string acoustic model. I can hear some if I listen closely with headphones... in a live mix, not so much. It's it a deal breaker? Not for me, but I do think the 12 string sounds somewhat artificial. Bottom line is none of this stuff is perfect, and as far as the Variax goes the individual unit one gets, and the player him/herself weigh heavily on what "works well", what doesn't, and who can hear this, that or the other thing when it's isolated under a microscope all by itself.
  7. Seems to me that anything that isn't EADGBE standard tuning is an "alternate tuning"... it's an umbrella term, encompassing every other tuning out there, from the commonplace to the weird. What else would we call it? Now if we really want to get into a semantic argument, what the new poly features can't do is produce open or drop tunings, where different strings are shifted by different intervals, and/or one or more strings are shifted and the rest are left alone entirely. That's where the Variax has the edge... though in my experience, they're far from perfect.

    64 Bit?

Truer words have never been spoken...;)
  9. Unless you're used to listening to a mic-ed Diezel (or anything else for that matter) monitored through some other output, you will be forever disappointed with anything a modeler has to offer. The "amp in the room" tone ain't happening...
  10. Anybody else remember how this turned out a few years ago when somebody tried to distribute something similar for the Helix floor? ;)
  11. You mention "patches"... if you're looking for presets for Helix or other device, I'd post this in the the appropriate forum... it won't get much traction in here. If you're asking which model to use in the Variax... the guitar you mention is basically a 335 with pointy horns and diamond-shaped sound holes... start with the 335 model and tweak to taste in Workbench. That's probably as close as you'll get.

    64 Bit?

I think we can all guess until we turn blue, and in the end most of those guesses will be way off base as to what the next box will have in it on day one, and comically wrong with regard to an ETA... hell, the release date of the next firmware update for the device we already own is a complete mystery. Trying to predict the arrival of "Helix 2" is like trying to put a date stamp on The Rapture.
  13. But what if it's a joystick? ;)

    Big Sur

No, and there won't be until they eventually announce "Here it is!"... it's just how they roll. As for being repeatedly prompted to update, just keep clicking "remind me tomorrow". It take 1.71 seconds, and after a couple of days you won't even notice you're doing it anymore...
  15. Congratulations! You've now landed in the absolute last place where anyone "official" might chance upon your question/gripe. This is a user forum...not a customer service department, the UN, or any other venue where a grievance might actually be addressed. Best of luck, and may you one day find a better joystick with a clearly visible date stamp on it... ;)
  16. Free tip: Asking someone for assistance and concluding your request with an insult tends to yield unsatisfying results....
  17. Dude, you really need to relax... if you keep muttering about joysticks and 2015, the men with the really big butterfly nets will come and take you away. :) It's a toy... no toy is worth ruminating over to this extent.
  18. That's easy... for most things you'll ever buy, you don't. It's not a Gibson with a date-coded serial number, for which there's an easily decipherable formula that the whole world knows. Line 6 can probably figure it out for a given unit, but that doesn't mean you can, nor does it mean that they'd tell you if asked. For most stuff, even if there is a date of manufacture baked in there, it's far from a guarantee that such info is publicly available.
  19. Your guess is a good as anybody else's around here... the powers that be tend not to broadcast "progress notes" on anything... and what little they do reveal appears over at TGP, not here. This is the "Forgotten Forum"...;)
  20. Posting it in here won't do any good... submit it to Ideascale.

    3.01 Update

In situations you clearly don't have...;) I dare say that the overwhelming majority of us haven't noticed anything either, otherwise this forum would be overflowing with whining about corrupted audio. This is like the dire warnings that accompany prescription drugs... you might experience constant bleeding from both eyes and demonic possession...or it'll just lower your blood pressure like it's supposed to. Don't borrow trouble...or just do the update, and then it doesn't matter either way.
