  1. Anyone who's using Ownhammer IRs with Helix, I'd suggest reading the Ownhammer tutorial about that. My short takeaway for the subtly best results: If you're comfortable not mixing Ownhammer IRs with other brands, use the files in the Fractal folder rather than Helix His advice on keeping all parallel IRs on the same processor path seems more dubious. If that were an issue, seems like it would affect all patches, not just ones with IRs, Ownhammer or not.
  2. Just gorgeous! You're a lucky man!
  3. Two new models of that on the way too, a physically lighter version with the exact same speakers, amps, and specs, and an XL version, bigger and more powerful.
  4. Have a big Helix not LT, but I'm confused. There aren't 16 physical footswitches, so there's no place to configure more than 8 (or 10). Some way of setting up a second "page" of them and switching to it quickly on stage is an interesting idea, maybe post it on IdeaScale, see if there's interest. Personally, I don't see how that could be handy enough for live use, but if you have an idea of how it should work, post away. I also don't usually find myself wishing for more footswitches, they're pretty well matched to the available DSP, especially given that they already do double duty for stomps and snapshots. Or am I completely misunderstanding what you're asking?
  5. I think many people set the big knob to control 1/4" out only, leaving the XLR constant, so FOH has a consistent signal to work with. Let them worry about the mix on the room, use the knob to make yourself happy, and maybe your bandmates, depending on your stage monitoring setup.

    Tuner

I pretty much do exactly that, kinda take the top line as advice, maybe. How about global settings for Tuner Resolution and Tuner Time Constant, keep everybody happy. Or not...
  7. Just got around to updating to 2.21 from 2.20, and noticed afterwards that Windows says the driver didn't install correctly. I haven't been using Helix with computer audio, so maybe I wouldn't know, but the editor seems to be working ok. I shut down, disconnected Helix, reinstalled the Helix software, same msg at startup. Is the driver only about audio? I will eventually want to be able to use it with a DAW etc, so not having isn't great, if it's really not installed, or not up to date. Any ideas what else to try? This is Windows 7, up to date (old computer, please let's not get distracted by how that makes me an awful human).
  8. Yeah, well, soon here too, maybe... Empty slots are also a pain when loading IRs, have to separately place each group between them.
  9. I must be the only person in the world who doesn't really like PRSs. Total respect for their craftsmanship, and the best ones look gorgeous, but every time I've played one, I just didn't care that much for the feel of the neck, or the sound. Not sure what's wrong with me. That said, if you're thinking about this sort of thing glideman, you should check out the 513. EDIT: If you can find one, just saw on their site it's discontinued. On paper, that's my guitar - I love wiring with lots of possibilities - but I played one locally, and see above, it just wasn't for me.
  10. I've read that Kevin pulled some older generation IRs off the front page and normal navigation, but it is interesting that search can find them. I bet that's why there are way fewer files. Let us know what you think of them!
  11. I've discovered that if you have any empty IRs selected when exporting, extra files are created, with names resembling but not the same as the ones before then in the list. As an inaccurate example, since I've already deleted the bogus export folder, if the IR before the empty one was '003 my preset', a file named '003 my preset n', or something, gets created. Where this really bites you is that the name is similar enough that it may screw up sorting, so re-importing may not do the right thing. Moral of the story, until this gets fixed: DO NOT export empty IRs. It's kind of a pain to shift-select all of them, then go back through and deselect empty ones, but it's worth it.
  12. Also the approach mentioned by @TheDaveDaveDave, with a compressor with the mix at less than 100%, to let some pick attack through. I'm not such a fan of the Red Comp in general (try Deluxe, LA Studio, or 3 Band), and I've never wanted mix as low as he suggested, but even at 95%, the sharp transient at the start of notes adds a lot of life and expressiveness.
  13. Well you wouldn't if you had that KPA...
  14. I'm sure you're both right, never dealt w the HD, but heard what? The control at min setting when you adjusted min, max when adjusting max? Sounds potentially useful, maybe put it on IdeaScale.
  15. Very true, see this post from Kevin at Ownhammer. That said, each IR maker does seem to have a bit of an identifiable character, even though I doubt I could pick them out reliably.
  16. Try high Master settings, less preamp Gain. For some amps, that can get you compression/sustain with less distortion and mess.
  17. Bet she'd like it if you sold the Burman though... Never heard of it personally though.
  18. Honestly, I've never hit that limit, and I always use snapshots. I don't control everything, but I do control the things I want to. The limit of 8 controls per stomp switch is more of an issue IMO, but even that's rarely a problem since snapshots.
  19. Not bad, I expected much worse. I've seen people selling Kempers with "thousands of dollars in profiles", and I know MBritt is kind of the gold standard, so I figured, glad I was wrong. And you sir are a lucky man :)
  20. If you're changing the min and max values the pedal will go to, I wouldn't necessarily expect anything to happen until you moved the pedal to its min and max positions. Could you maybe just move the knob you're controlling to see what min and max you want, then adjust the controller min and max to match?
  21. It's actually pretty quick to set most or all amp parameters to be controlled by snapshots. That's pretty much the first thing I do after adding an amp block, unless it's a multi-amp patch where I know that amp is only going to be used in one snapshot.
  22. (Don't have a Kemper, but I pay some attention, 'cause I wish I did.) Am I right that he doesn't have an "everything" deal? Of you don't mind my asking, what did it cost to get all his stuff?
