  1. Try searching by price < 5 or < 10, some interesting stuff, smaller packages and/or older.
  2. Thanks Denny, nice bit of kit.
  3. That flight case looks great if you're after such a thing. How much was shipping to the US? Only room for the cord, nothing else? Not that that's a deal breaker, just info.
  4. A DAW environment is a classic situation where you want all the resolution you can get. It really would be a shame if Native was usable only at lower res.
  5. Very cool sir! Is the Big pack add-on a standalone package, or does it use IRs from the main big pack? Wondering if it'd make sense for folks who are interested in what you've been up to lately, especially with the newer Helix models, while being less of an investment than the big pack.
  6. If this thread is about octave fuzzes, as opposed to harmony generators, I really really like the sound of the GNI Octa Fuzz, which is apparently what Andy Timmons uses, like in . Never played one, but I like the demo and of course what AT does with it. EDIT: Server not found on the link to GNI, can't find it, too bad, hope it's temporary.
  7. I grew up in Rochester NY, used the MXR quite a bit back in the day, and your right, squash city. Like you, I don't use the one in Helix, but have found uses for all the others I think. Another move I've been experimenting with for clean sounds is the Deluxe or Studio comp, followed by a 3-band compressing only highs. Helps keep high spikes in check.
  8. I've been experimenting lately with setting the mix control at 95-97% (something less than 100% IOW) to let a smidgen of pick attack through. Lets the compressor add sustain and smoothness, but coutneracts some of the "dulling" vibe.
  9. Light colored fabric reflects rather than absorbs heat, but might look less cool and get dirty quicker.
  10. Props to you both :) And to your mad money fund, puts mine to shame. If I actually had one it would anyway...
  11. See also this: http://www.ownhammer.com/tutorials/helix/ No idea how subtle those effects are.
  12. It's not just too hot, it's already been distorted and tailored for flat response playback, which even the clean channel of a guitar amp is very much not. That's why your ok going to the board, but not through the amp. Coming in the fx return is much more likely to work ok, but you're still going through a guitar speaker, so you'll want to remove the cabs in Helix.
  13. Most importantly, the breadth and specificity of their vision. Keep playing and the rest will take care of itself. You'll have to actually do it, and learn how to do it, and gain the skills, but that's the bedrock it's built on.
  14. Speaking of taking someone/thing seriously, I just don't buy that that's the one remaining obstacle between you (or any of us) and a "professional guitar sound". I'd like the ability to move the mic across the speaker too, but really.

He was their sound guy, then bass, then rhythm guitar and keyboards, now is co-lead player. Check out his podcast, those folks can play anything.
  16. To copy a preset on Helix itself, just click Save ONCE, then select a different destination patch.
  17. Sorry I wasn't clearer. Pretty much all my real presets use snapshots, they're just awesome. I just meant that I'll often start a new preset by modifying an existing one, so a bunch of controller and switch assignments, as well as routing and processing choices, are already in place.
  18. It's pretty quick in general I think, but you can absolutely safe a copy of a preset, then swap out the amp and/or cab, and maybe some of the FX. Thing is though, when you change blocks, like to a different amp or cab for instance, all those assignment go away.
  19. That's how most of my paches are set up too, but note that pressing the Mode switch puts you in 8 or 10 stomps mode, another press and you're back to 4 and 4.
  20. Lowest possible delay time probably isn't 0, you may be hearing phase cancellation from mixing a slightly delayed signal with the original.
  21. Not at my Helix, and I don't remember for sure if I've ever tried it, but I think tap tempo still works if delay time is set to time rather than note subdivisions.
  22. I keep an Evernote note with that info, update it from my phone just before doing an update or anything else that might mean I'll need that info. It doesn't change that often, for me.
  23. @ZSchneidi, are you happy in Kemper-land without their dedicated foot controller?
  24. On Helix itself, it's not on the Save screen, it's in the Presets screen you see when you press down on the Presets knob.
